The apartment itself is beautiful, and the maintenance person German was responsive (not sure if he still works there, I moved out July 2022); those two factors are what earned two stars here instead one.
Beyond that, this place really cares not about tenants, nor former tenants. I received a call from a debt collector in late December about a bill of more than $1000 that has gone to collections from Magnolia on Zang due to move-out fees. I HAD RECEIVED ZERO NOTICE OF AN OUTSTANDING BALANCE. They claim it's from repairing drywall and replacing carpet. First issue here is... why did I pay a deposit if I'm going to be hit with a $1000 bill when I move out? This is a Google review from a random person so nobody is obligated to believe this but -- my wife and I, aside from being generally responsible, clean people, hired professional cleaners before we moved out. Additionally, we patched up holes from nails where we hung paintings and repainted and textured over them.
Besides the fact that we feel these fees are unjustified, we are upset because I did not receive one inkling that we had remaining fees due until a DEBT COLLECTOR called me!! No attempt to contact me about this even once.
Quite the contrary, I have attempted to contact them now four times since December. I have asked for an itemized receipt of the costs of repairs/ materials that warrant a $1000+ bill. The receptionist has taken my info down, assured me a manager (who she claims is "very on top of the ball") would get back to me. Nothing. Literally zero attempt to help mitigate the situation.
This whole clusterbomb of a situation aside, I will give another anecdote about when I moved in that speaks to their blatant disregard for integrity. I toured the available apartment on the third floor. The manager at the time, Cruz, and I were walking and chatting about the apartment. I asked innocuously somewhere in there, "does the apartment have an elevator," to which he replied "yes" and then trickled off with his words and quickly moved on. I didn't twice about this because, why would I think someone would lie about something so silly? I just assumed we chose to take the stairs up at that time.
So I signed the lease, and the minute we pulled up with our moving van, we scaled the building and immediately discovered there was no elevator. Ok, so I just assumed I had misheard Cruz and brushed it off and went on with life.
Within the coming months, in speaking with SEVERAL OTHER TENANTS who were moving in, I discovered they were told the exact same thing; that the apartment had elevators. That's when I, and the other tenants I spoke with, knew these clowns lied because they knew some tenants would rethink a lease if they knew it did not have an elevator.
I have not received such poor, unprofessional treatment from a property management group since I was an 18 year old living in the ghetto.
If you have the money to move into Magnolia on Zang, don't. Go...
Read moreI spent three years at Magnolia after not living in an apartment for over a decade. And it was a really good experience for someone not used to apartment living. They are just small enough to not feel overwhelming to me like most apartment spaces. And the staff was so kind and accommodating to Me around my constantly extending move out date as I waited for the tiny home I was moving into to be finished The manager Cruz and office staff Lauren were super nice and helpful throughout my time there and they have The best maintenance staff. Pete and Tanner are gems. For someone with not that much apartment experience I really expected this to be a hard stay and it was the best outcome I could have had why I waited for the tiny home to finish. The neighborhood is vibrant and close to downtown and truly culturally rich. My favorite thing about the place was how the make up of the residents reflected the kind of world we should want to Live in - people of all cultures and races - mostly Millineals who put up with my Generation x old school self.
Because of its location it’s got a lot of activity around but even as a very sound sensitive person living in a side unit facing most of the noise I did not really ever have trouble sleeping because the design of the bedroom nook and the loudness of the air conditioner, which was a plus given my location on the back of building. You will however hear the hum of the neighborhood from the back units during the day when you’re not asleep but I imagine the middle units are cushioned from that sound and like I said it never affected my sleep as a extremely sensitive person to sound.
It’s also nice they have a locked gate for the parking lot because there can be some issues parking on the street with space and some petty crime and reckless driving in the area. Overall though I felt safe there as a woman on the second floor even if I didn’t feel especially Safe walking around the outside of the complex at night, but don’t exactly feel super safe doing that anywhere. I Think they could benefit from putting a keypad on the back entrance for times you get locked, especially for women, to save you from having to Walk around the outside of the building at night. I also would mention that if you take one of the few units on the front and back of building that are mostly all windows around the walls, expect a higher electric bill, especially in winter. So if you’re trying to save money in that regard I would consider a middle unit although the windows are really Nice for light.
I also really liked the aesthetic design of the building something I really personally appreciate. And there is an absolutely beautiful serene pool Area shared with their neighbor Chymes. Overall it’s a great place to stay with really...
Read moreI have not had hot water or any pressure for cold water in the shower for 4 days. I have placed a work order on the resident portal (website) and called them to inform them of the issue that needs to be resolved immediately since I cannot use the shower/bath at all. I have been calling the regular phone number and the emergency maintenance number for 4 days, leaving them voice mails but without success. I would call the emergency maintenance number and it would say that there are no agents available and the call would end. This is not cool at all. I work 12-hour shifts and I can't go a day without taking a shower so I had to go take a shower somewhere else at friends. This is unacceptable from a community that offers "apartments with high-end finishes" "state-of-the-art living experience".
Also, 1 month ago I had a rental car for 2 weeks while my personal vehicle was in the shop for some fixes. Magnolia on Zang does not offer any visitor parking spots inside the apt complex parking space. I had to park my rental car on the side street and I could barely find a spot to park. One day I came home from work so tired and there were no parking spots anywhere in the area surrounding the apt complex and I had parked inside the apt complex. I woke up the next days with my car missing, finding out that my car was towed due to not having a sticker for being a resident. I had talked to the manager saying that there are no other ways to park so I had to do it because of the area not being the safest, and across the street neighbors always throwing parties and having a lot of people out on the street doing shady stuff. They refused to reimburse me the 175 dollars that I had to pay to get my rental vehicle back, even though there are NO VISITOR PARKING SPOTS AVAILABLE that are within the gates of the apt complex. Honestly, it was not safe for me to park on the side streets and was always scared that something was either going to happen to me or with the rental car. I am really upset with this situation and I just renewed my lease for...
