Incompetent staff, beautiful place. A friend paid for a night stay as a Xmas surprise. It started out great, clean comfortable room. My family decided to use the salt water pool. Then we went up to our room to shower from the pool. We noticed my daughters hot pink bath suit turned purple and had bleach marks all over it. She wore it the past two summers in chlorine pools (that are supposed to be way more harsh than salt water) and it’s remained like new color wise. As soon as we got back to the room my husbands eyes were burning (he was the only one to go under water). The shower didn’t help even though he flushed his eyes. His face got swollen around his eyes and his eyes were insanely red. The burning kept getting worse so he went to talk to the front desk to find out what was in the pool. He assured us it was only salt and let my husband take photos of all the chemicals in the pool room but that maybe it got shocked that day because they do that once a week. He told us a manager would call in the morning to let us know. He made a note of how bad my husbands eyes looked. We called our doctor and he said salt water would not cause a reaction like that to eyes or a swimsuit. He recommended we go to a pharmacy for eye wash and find out exactly was in the pool and to call an eye doctor in the morning to make an appt. we checked out in the morning after no word from a manager. We mentioned it and she called us shortly after leaving and told us if we needed anything to let her know. She was supposed to call my husband back once she talked to the pool maintenance worker. Shocker, she never called back. After leaving I found out my card got charged for the room when my card was only given for incidentals!! I called before arriving and so did my friend who booked the room and we were BOTH reassured everything was all set and no more info was needed since she was booking the room from out of state. I was NEVER informed my card was charged nor did I sign anything. My friend called me to let me know she received the receipt and they charged my card instead so she called and they told her all of a sudden that they don’t except cards not in person!! So I called and told them they did not have permission to charge my card and we were given the wrong info so they will be refunding my card. Then all of a sudden they are able to email a form for my friend to fill out so she can pay with her card instead. I also mentioned that I hadn’t heard back from the manager reguarding the pool and asked for a copy of the pool log. I was told a manager would get back to me via email. Surprise surprise...no word yet and it’s been over 24 hours since that phone call. This is a very serious matter!!! Marriot should be more careful about how they treat guests that they injured. They claim the pool was not shocked and there were no additional chemicals yet we have proof with photos of bathing suits and skin and eye burns that there was in fact wayyyyy to many chemicals for someone to even be allowed in that pool!!! I will be writing this review everywhere I can, contacting upper management, and will continue until something gets taken care of. Horrible horrible customer...
Read moreI would recommend for a short stay.
Overall the stay (7 nights) was good. The staff was extremely nice. The room was nice, beds are new but WAY too soft, and a nice 'livingroom'. They have a microwave, keurig, and a mini fridge (but it froze everything in the matter of a couple hours). The shower was great! Roomy walk in with great water pressure (they provide shampoo, conditioner, and bodywash). The temperature handle was a little stiff to regulate to the perfect temp, but it worked out just fine. The view from one side of the building was beautiful! It overlooked downtown, Empower Field, Denver Aquarium, Amusement park, and in the distance The Rockies! Breakfast was complimentary...but I would not compliment it too much! Normals like coffee, juice, cereal, yogurt, bagles, English muffins, fresh fruit (apples, oranges, and bananas), powdered eggs (didn't taste like eggs, and lots of water in the bottom), crustless mini quiche (spinach and swiss), breakfast croissant sandwich (powdered egg, cheese, sausage patty). What i would compliment is the very nice oatmeal bar and mini Belgium waffle maker (which was more in Marriott style). Out of 7 nights they had bacon 1 time. Other than that, the same exact thing every single morning. Shame on Marriott. For what you pay, they can definitely do better when it comes to breakfast.
The lobby was clean and inviting with a wall of floor to ceiling windows overlooking downtown and the Rockies! They also offer a few family games to play if you wanted. The 'Tavern' was under construction I am assuming. They had a mobile bar set up next to the front desk with a bartender there instead of at the actual bar. The Tavern area is very small with just a few stools at the bar (it is in the lobby).
The weight/workout room is ok size with different equipment to choose from. Seemed like an ok space.
The indoor pool area offered a small balcony outside, overlooking downtown. The pool itself maxed out at 3' ft deep, perfect for the kiddos or just a quick dip. The water temp was perfect.
There is a rooftop area, but closed to the general guests (only available if reserved for a gathering). It would have been GREAT to have a bar/restaurant up there to enjoy the beautiful views of Denver, and open to the guests.
Within 1 mile walk to everything, a 25 min drive from the airport, and Mtns about 1 1/2 hrs
Overall I would recommend this hotel for a short (weekend) stay. It's clean, the rooms are nice and the staff...
Read moreI have enjoyed my recent stays at Fairfield but this property was highly disappointing. 1.Property not as described in listing. Not accessible. Poorly signed. 2. Parking only for 15-20 cars & limited street parking 3. Few rooms have actual views 4. Staff rude and unwilling to assist. Upon arrival, the hotel lacked clear signage directing guests to check-in. In addition, no parking was available in the small garage (15 cars max) and all surrounding street parking was full. I attempted to call the front desk, but the front desk worker answered the phone & then immediately hung up. So I called back. The front desk worker answered and hung up again - so I went up to the lobby while my husband idled in the garage (not in a parking space). I asked the front office person why she hung up on me twice. She said the handset phone wasn't working - only the desk phone worked. (I can't understand why she didn't answer using the working phone OR answer the other phone "please hold" & then walk over to the working phone.)
Regardless, it was extremely rude to hang up on a customer twice. In addition, the worker was indignant and sarcastic when I asked why the hotel website didn't mention that only "limited parking" and "street parking" was available. The website said the hotel had parking which it did not. The front desk person then suggested that I - an older female - park at a Marriott 3 blocks away & walk back even though it was after midnight. I can't imagine how a handicapped person would fare.
Since we had to park so far away, we were unable to bring our luggage in. When we finally got to the room - the electronic app key did not work so we had to go back to the lobby for a key. When we entered the room - we were disappointed to see the room had a view of a wall - when the website featured rooms with views of Denver & the Rockies - and listing specifically says views of Denver. Also room was dingy with stained...
