Cadillac Square Diner — Restaurant in Detroit

If I could rate zero stars for this restaurant I would. Our service began good...our actual waitress was very nice. But there was an incident with the OWNER of the diner. One of my companions dining with me was full and didn't want his waffle. He asked the waitress to take it away. That's it! He didn't ask for it to be taken off his check or anything...just taken off the table. Next thing we know a woman we assumed was the manager came over WITH AN ATTITUDE asking, "what's wrong with the waffle," in a nasty tone. My companion politely said, "nothing, I'm just not going to eat it. You can still charge me for it." She snapped back with, "oh, yeah cuz it's still going to be on your check." He said, "I never asked you to take it off." As she turned to walk off with she said, "you WILL be charged for it." We were so offended by her approach and attitude over a waffle! We asked our waitress if that was the manager and she informed us the lady owns the diner with her husband. I couldn't believe an OWNER treated their patrons this way. Not to mention we WERE going to order a few caramel cakes to go for our crew. But why would we give them anymore of our business. This lady's attitude was disgusting!! And...the food wasn't even that good. I would never recommend anyone in the Detroit area eat there. We're on tour with a play and would have told everyone to go and try them, but the OWNER ruined that!!!...

I was very insulted after stopping in this place. I had a taste for a cheeseburger so I decided to stop in.there to get one. Now I understand that I was downtown and prices are slightly higher, but I didn't expect to be charged nearly $14 for a regular cheeseburger and a pop. And even though I was dining in the bill was brought to me before my food!! Where do they do that?!!! Then when I opted not to eat there at all the waitress said that's what I thought!! Now how was I supposed to take that? Was she insinuating I looked like I couldn't afford $14. I'm black, but im.not going to assume race played a part because I'm sure they have plenty of black customers. But I definitely left there feeling very insulted. I Wil NEVER go back, and not because of the prices, but because of her nasty attitud.And if she happens to stumble across this review I had nearly $1000 in my pocket when I was there and I make $24 an hour, so trust me, I can afford to pay $14...

I don't wanna go back. The owner's style of running a business is to hire as few people as possible to run the restaurant and make this small number of workers take on as many tasks as possible. These kinda business owners don't pay their workers much by the way. Every time I go there I see only one waitress working, she has to take customers to tables, give them food, take orders, and process payments. Owner needs to have more than one waitress working at a time. Orders take long to get delivered, payments take long to process, because owner wants to hire as few workers as possible. This diner is downtown, they're always busy, they need to hire more people, expect your visit here to take longer than...
