Drury Inn's have always been one of my favorite lodging establishments, and this one is no exception.
We arrived around 9am after driving for four hours to get to St. Louis. I was hoping they would have a room ready that we could check into, but I would have understood if they did not. Many hotels do not allow such an early check in. As usual, with Drury Inn, the guests come first.
I approached the desk and asked Bob if we could check in early. He said they were not busy the night before, and they probably had a room ready. He took a look, and sure enough, they had a room with two double beds available. I had requested a top floor room toward the end. He informed me that they had a top floor room, but not one at the end. I told him that was great with us. He checked us in quickly. What makes the biggest difference to me was the breakfast was still going on. Bob asked if we had a chance to have breakfast, and told us we were welcome to have breakfast the morning we checked in. It had been a long day, and the offer of breakfast is just going the extra mile in my opinion.
We got to our room, and it was clean, comfortable, and well appointed! One post complained of the small rooms, and I didn't find them any smaller than any other midscale hotel. We had two queen size beds, a dresser, flat panel TV, a work desk, fridge and micro, a nice chair and lamp. The beds are amazing! The bathroom is a bit odd with the commode sitting at an angle, but that certainly didn't make a huge difference. The body wash, shampoo, and conditioner were the nicest I have ever experienced. The scent reminded me of being on a cruise.
The evening reception was a very nice welcome touch. From 5:30pm to 7pm they fed us dinner (and I am not talking light snacks). Last nights choices were: Pasta and Meatballs, Baked Potatoes, Chili, Fresh Steamed Hot Dogs and Buns, Build your own Nachos, and a Salad Bar. That along with 3 alcoholic beverages, or unlimited soft drinks adds a HUGE value to the reasonable price we paid for the room. The bartender was outstanding, friendly, and makes a very strong drink.
This mornings breakfast was good, but not wonderful. It was your standard biscuits and gravy, sausage, eggs, assorted breads and muffins, and beverages. It was plenty to eat, and got us going. The breakfast staff was wonderful, cheerful, and attentive.
Every member of the staff at this Drury went above and beyond what is expected! Every staff member from the housekeepers to the General Manager in training spoke each and every time they approach you in the hall. They were all smiling, energetic, and friendly. I would be proud to have any of them on my team!
If you on the fence of whether to stay at this hotel, fear not, you WILL have a great experience. It is not often that I compliment a hotel like this. I spent over 20 year of my life as a hotel manager, and retired a few years ago. I am VERY picky about where I stay, and without a doubt if I am ever in the St. Louis area again (and I hope that is not the case), I will look at this Drury, or another one...
Read moreFirst let me say the woman who checked us in and checked us out was wonderful, I believe her name was Christina (young black woman with a beautiful smile) and my husband had a nice experience with an older black woman in housekeeping that brought us an iron on our second day. These two ladies were only good things about our 2 night stay at the Drury Inn at the St. Louis Airport. Our stay started off well but after being moved to 3 different rooms from the time of check in until 12:30am we were not happy. The first time we had to move rooms was ridiculous. The reason for our move was because of the staff being unable to locate a plunger for the toilet. In a hotel with what I can only assume has hundreds of toilets, they could not find ONE plunger! So we were moved from a room that was quite nice on the 2nd floor to the 6th floor in a room that was smaller and smelled horrible! The staff at the time of my 2nd complaint decided to offer us the room next door to the smelly room. The woman working front desk this time was a younger white woman that didn't seem to know what she was doing. All the while my husband and I are trying to enjoy our wedding anniversary and spending time with friends(who were also staying in your hotel). After refusing to move to the other room on the 6th floor, we were moved back to the second floor. To a room next to our friends which was our goal the entire night but the staff "couldn't overide our king room for a double". We were told that since we were using Gold key points they couldn't change the type of room we were staying in. The last front desk person I dealt with the first night, simply picked up the phone and contacted the manager and figured out how to change the type of room we were in so we could be on the same floor as our friends. That gentleman at the front desk seemed overwhelmed with people checking in and phone calls but he did his best to keep his calm and handle all the situations that he had thrown at him. If it wasn't for the hotel being unable to find a plunger I think our stay would have been pleasant but that was not the case and because of having to move rooms multiple times our stay was very tiring and exhausting. My husband and I were taking a weekend without kids for our wedding anniversary. We used 30,000 points on Gold Key Card and I truly do not think our stay was worth a tenth of those points. Please let your staff have access to multiple plungers and the ability to change room types to avoid multiple moves...
Read moreSo, my friends and I were visiting ST Luis for a little trip before school started back up. We originally were gonna stay at the Quality Inn, but due to none of us being 21+ they denied us entry even with our reservations and the website saying 18+ check in policy. We spent 10 minutes walking to a different place, only to be unable to go. Then we spent 30 minutes calling around trying to find a place to stay. We finally found the Drury Inn! They have an age policy of 18+ for check in, and had an availability for our last minute booking of two nights. We were so happy to have found them and walked 30 minutes to the hotel. We got in, tired, hot and exhausted and the staff were so incredibly welcoming and understanding. We checked in and got to our room. The service was amazing, the beds were comfortable and clean, the bathroom was amazing, and the room was amazing. Their breakfast is delicious, especially for hotel food, and had amazing options ranging from biscuits and eggs to waffles and cereal and bagels. It was amazing!! The pool was nice, and the hot tub was an amazing way for my friends to gossip and relax. Dinner was delicious, the night we ate it, it was tacos and it was amazing. The food was delicious, and the staff was so incredibly nice, checking in and making it feel like a restaurant. I highly suggest staying here, it's one of the best hotels I've stayed at in the states. I will say the biscuits from breakfast were DELISH and I still...
