Suan Thai and Japanese Restaurant — Restaurant in Fort Lauderdale

Just left the restaurant a few minutes ago after waiting 20 minutes in our table. Horrible serving and overpriced food.

My mom is from Thailand so she became a regular customer to this restaurant. Personally for me, the food is bland and overpriced, but I go with my mom because it’s near the house and is thai.

She always orders to-go online. Usually it’s a 30 minute wait, so we always order early, which is when the place opens at 5 pm. However, she wanted to eat in for the first time in 7 months. We went in, picked a table for 3 and for 20 minutes no one came to give us a menu, drink or even acknowledge our existence in entering the premises.

The restaurant only has one server, this mid 30’s Thai lady who just kept talking to this guy who sat behind us after we came first. Then when she left to get his drink, she literally wouldn’t leave his side. Who would have thought that after finishing her convo with him, the server would just go to the NEXT TABLE in front of us. 20-30 Minutes and still no...

What a shame that restaurant staff cannot be nice to customers. I made reservation over a week ago for 2 for today, and I received a reminder from Google asst of my reservation time at 4:30p, and I thought I would be nice and call and tell them we were going to be much earlier, closer to 4pm. The person that answered phone did not let me finish my whole purpose for calling, starting loudly telling me they don't take reservations for 2, I tried to talk louder and say you already gave confirmation, and I got reminder. But never got farther because the person continued to say No, we don't take reservations for 2 ma'am. Obviously, at that point, I have no choice but to cancel my online reservation that they "don't take" and go eat and give business to another restaurant. Get the avocado and crab (Kani) salad omg 🤤 Super tasty and filling. Heavy on the mayo but when you add soy sauce it’s really the perfect mix of creamy, salty, fatty and crabby. I like that they give you little things of eel, spicy and spicy mayo sauces so you can make everything just the way you like without calling the waiter over a dozen times. Skip the Naruto veggie appetizer.. well unless you’re trying to be healthy because it tastes only of spinach. And I like spinach.. but maybe I just enjoy hot spinach haha with that said...I ate the whole thing because it’s very healthy. I also got the sashimi appetizer with 9 pieces of fat sashimi, beautifully plated for about 12$. Such a steal and I thought it tasted very fresh. Staff was attentive so no complaints! Great place.
