I am giving this review for the Drift Hotel a five star review yet to be completely transparent my experience was not five star but I believe they have the potential to be five star for everyone once a few things are addressed and adjusted. I loved it here and it has been two weeks since I departed but have yet to write the review due to hospitalization (nothing to do with the trip or stay here). The room faced the street with gorgeous bay window panes and beautiful floors featuring an abundance of space and most welcome modern touch. When I first arrived I was taken aback somewhat at the cluttered feel of the office which definitely could use some organization as this was my first impression wondering what my room might be like. Not to worry however as the room as splendid. The location is a dream one block from the ocean. The advertisement on their site that they offer towels and chairs and sunscreens is no joke. They really do and there are many so no guest goes without. I arrived back to my room in the evening after being at the beach all day and the room was like a sauna. The air that was on when I had left was now off. It turns out it was on a timer, so future guests please be aware of this. The staff members I spoke to did not know how to program the remote. I guess this is a new feature. I spent 45 minutes watching you tube videos of the model air unit in my room to learn how to program it to remain on. The ATM was a great convenience until I realized it was not operating, and not even plugged in. Cruz at the front desk is a delight. She speaks no English at all and you must speak into her phone in which she then allows google to translate. It is not annoying if one realizes your choice is to come to a land that is mighty in its diversity so no complaining for what some consider to be annoying. Not so. One thing that did annoy me was the smell of an abundance of marijuana everywhere one walks. The courtyard of the hotel is beautiful looking serene but one guest was out there the entire time of my stay and getting high. I do not fault the hotel as how could they possibly be held accountable for the behavior of other guests unless they monitored them 24/7 (one must realize this is now the culture of the city as the smell is everywhere you go without exception). I don't seek perfection as I realize no such thing exist other than God. Yet this place and my stay comes close. And they do not know this but I am returning the week after labor day. I hope I get the same room. Thanks especially to Danny in the office and Cruz. Wonderful good hospitable folks. As well as the man who checked me in early who has such an incredibly unique name that I apologize as I can not recall it. Now put some money in...
Read moreTitle: Avoid at All Costs – Disappointing Stay at The Drift Hotel
From a consumer and supervisor standpoint, I regret to say that my stay at The Drift Hotel on Fort Lauderdale Beach was an overwhelmingly negative experience. I expected a comfortable and enjoyable stay, but instead, I encountered a litany of issues that severely impacted my time at the property.
The room cleanliness and hygiene standards were appalling. I discovered mildew on pillowcases, hair on the bedsheets, sticky floors, and, unfortunately, even baby roaches and a cockroach in the shower. Although the hotel claims to offer housekeeping services, there was no visible housekeeping staff or service available during my stay. Essential amenities were lacking: no toiletries, no microwave, and no one to answer the phone after hours for any assistance.
The Drift Hotel advertises free parking, but with only seven parking spots, availability is extremely limited. Arriving after 8 PM guarantees you’ll have to find parking elsewhere, with the next-door AC Hotel charging $30 for valet – which I was forced to pay on multiple occasions, even though I wasn’t a guest there.
Customer service was largely disappointing, with the sole exception of Mr. Napoleon, who went above and beyond to make my stay somewhat manageable. His kindness and helpfulness were commendable amidst an otherwise rude and unhelpful staff.
In addition, the room itself was outdated and poorly maintained. A constant, unpleasant odor filled the room, and the door was so insecure that locking it required slamming and twisting the knob simultaneously. There was also no elevator, meaning I had to carry my luggage up the stairs.
The Drift Hotel’s lack of accountability became clear when I tried to escalate these issues to management. Despite my repeated requests to speak with a manager, I received nothing but excuses that the manager wasn’t available. With no refund option and a broken sink, a non-functional toilet, and an array of other unaddressed issues, my five-night stay felt like a “nightmare on Elm Street.”
While the proximity to the beach was perhaps the only redeeming quality, it doesn’t compensate for the distress and discomfort I experienced. The Drift Hotel appears more like a rundown motel for transient guests, and I cannot, in good conscience, recommend this property to anyone looking for a pleasant...
Read moreLet me start off by no means am I bougie when it comes to hotels/motels. 1 look at he reviews 2 location and 3 price. Basically the biggest bang for my buck. Would I stay here again absolutely not. Location was perfect...block from the beach, walking distance to everything. Service was good. Only problem I experienced was a group was right outside my door and would not shut up at 1030pm. Called to the front desk asked him to handle it. 10 minutes later he hadn't so I came out of the room and told them myself with a few choice words and that's when the guy came flying out of the office (must have seen me on the camera). So why would I cont stay here again? Roaches and noise. Its Florida I get it..1 here or there outside. Oh no. Morning you flip on the light about 5 we're running. Had clothes sitting on the little table area (theywere on little table area so I didn't have to dig them out of my bag that morning)... Roaches on them. Day 2 I'm cautious as heck now. Order door dash set the food on a towel on the table, go to the fridge to get a drink...and a roach is crawling across the towel. Kill it and as I move pick up my food, another one was already on the wapper. We had 2 hours before check out and we booked it then. Left our bags in the office to run to cvs before calling our ride. When we returned was putting items in our bag and there were roach bomb containers in the trashcan as well as little bugs all over the counters. Noise. We were on the ground level. night 1 was OK. 2nd night we were up till 3am because of the noise coming from the upstairs. There is zero sound proofing from upstairs or outside. Oh not to mention the wifi is horid but the tv worked. So 100% beware if you choose to stay there or atleast if you get room 104 because your going to have friends...
