I hadn't been to Denver area in 10 years and was looking forward to the trip. I picked this hotel since it was central to what we had planned and I am also Gold Elite Marriott member. I had reserved one bedroom suite for a week. ||I checked in on line and was told we would be notified when room was ready - no notification. I called them before 6 to let them know we would now not be arriving until 10:00 PM ish. When I was speaking with them, I was not told that the electricity at the hotel was out. When we arrived we were told there had been electrical problems earlier in the day, and not everything was up and running. We had to be checked in manually. The room I was given was first floor. I do not stay in first floor rooms and that is in my profile. Person at desk said they had not read my profile and I was told no other rooms were available. After much back and forth a room was found. It was on the 3rd floor. I was give two keys. Went to floor 3 and neither key worked. Back to desk. Was given two more keys and an emergency key and non of them worked. Was offered a studio, but there was no exchanging the next day for a suite. Ended up staying in the first floor room with the understanding we would be moved the next day. In the morning I inquired about getting into new room. Was told maintenance was not in. We had an appointment so we quickly packed up and took suitcases to lobby. In my haste I left two item in the room - one in the refrigerator and shampoo in the bath. I had hoped since the desk knew we left quickly these would be saved for us, but they weren't. Was told we could leave out items and when the room was ready,, our items would be put in the room. They weren't. We received a call about 4:30 PM saying we could get into our room. When we arrived we saw our luggage had not been taken to the room. We arrived and they keys worked. Room was very hot - 80 degrees. We turned on the AC - it was turned off. The room never cooled below 75 no matter what temp it was set at and the AC ran all night. In the morning, the temp started to rise. I let the front desk know. They said it would be on the list and they would get to it when the could. I told them if it wasn't fixed, we wanted another room. It was fixed late morning. It was better but never really worked right - either too cold or too hot no matter the temp. We lost electricity two other times when we were there - Wednesday evening until 10:30 PM and Saturday - on and off for a few hours. We were not given updates as to when the electricity might be on. Would have been nice for the front desk to offer some water. Many of us were sitting outside. Water didn't have to be cold - just something to drink while we waited. ||Room was okay. There is a two drawer stand in the closet. Can't open the drawers all the way because it hits the 1/2 door (no full closet door) of the closet. Door would not easily slide if you wanted to hang something up of any length or use the iron/ironing board. Bathroom was small. There was rust around the plug in the tub. The shower pressure was good. Only 1 place to hang a wet towel for 2 people. Bed was okay - nothing fabulous, but okay. Kitchen was interesting. No ice bucket and the drawers were so small the silverware container was not able to be put in any drawer so it was out on the sink. We didn't use any cooking supplies, plates, etc. or the microwave. ||A light cleaning is to be every other day and if you stay for 7 days then a deeper cleaning. Since we moved into the room on Monday, we should have had a cleaning on Wednesday, but it did not happen until Thursday. ||Desk staff at best was average - really didn't go out of their way to make me fee welcome and cared for. ||Breakfast is from 6-9AM - Monday thru Friday and 7-10AM Saturday and Sunday. Breakfast was okay - eggs, egg whites, sausage or bacon, cereal, bagels, muffins, waffle iron, bananas, green apples, juice, coffee, whole and fat free milk and 1% chocolate milk, 3 flavors of yogurt. The attendant kept food area clean and stocked. ||Did not use the fitness center, business center, pool or patio which was accessible from outside or the lobby, ||Location was great for what we had planned. Staying there again would be iffy. Hotel needs to invest in...
Read moreOur stay was not pleasant unfortunately! Most of the staff was quite rude and annoyed to answer the phone/questions. The room was spacious enough for us. We booked one with a fully equipped kitchen. The fridge was big and clean, the dishwasher old but clean. The rest not so much. Kitchen in general, like the countertop and some utensils were dirty/sticky and even had food stuck on. The laminate flooring in front of the kitchen was disgusting-very dirty and sticky. The mattress and the mattress of the pull out sofa were not comfortable...older/worn and saggy. We didn't sleep too well. The cleaning personnel did a nice job cleaning the room though. We were told we have to schedule the cleaning, that they wouldn't just come every morning. We didn't schedule but someone was there one morning, when we were not in the room. Big issue with pool use. There's a sign on the door, saying that only 5 people are allowed in it. Then we were told, that two rooms (no matter how many people) can use the pool. Then it was 10 people max and then it was only two family at a time, and then only one family. We were denied access twice because there was one family in there already. So we scheduled a time slot for us only and suddenly another person came in and then another group of 6. When we asked what's going on, we were told that they allow 2 rooms at the same time. When we asked why we were denied the last two times we got yelled at and she told us we were rude/didn't let us speak, threatened us we should pack our stuff and leave the hotel, if we don't like the rules. We talked to the manager the next morning and we scheduled another time slot just for us. That was the best time we had in the hotel. The kids had a lot of fun and enjoyed being in there without stress and rude staff. Don't count on breakfast...many guests left disappointed and empty handed as there was not much to choose from. I know that due to Covid there's no warm breakfast offered but there should be other options offered. P.S. When we were at the pool and the other room with 6 girls joined-one later told us she was celebrating her birthday with her friends. Her mother booked a 2-bedroom over a week ago so all the girls could stay together in a room. When they arrived they were told that their room was canceled and were given two 1-bedrooms instead. The girls had to split up and could not stay together. There's dog poop and cigarette buds. I walked my dogs somewhere else as I stepped in...
Read moreWe had a wedding in Golden. The bride reserved a block of rooms down the road at another Marriott (which was beautiful…and 1/2 the price!) but I “upgraded” because I always prefer a residence in . As I was flying in, I received an email that the hotel was under construction and the pool and fitness center were closed and there would be construction noise. At the time I got this notice, all other hotels In the area were booked for the weekend.
Check in went well…proceeded to the elevator, it was filthy with construction paster, the walls and control panel were duct taped together. I was afraid we weren’t going to get to the next floor. The hotel hallways were covered with plastic liners and there was plaster pieces and dust throughout the hall. Looks like it was never vacuumed.
Got to our room. It was dated, but thankfully clean…but very hot and stuffy. We raised AC and left for dinner…came back, still same temp. AC not working! Call front desk…not other rooms available and maintenance would come take a look in a.m. The windows only opened about 4” so no air circulation . Called back, fortunately they had fans which made it comfortable but it was an unseasonably warm night
Next morning went to breakfast. It was a pathetic spread, but due to COVID I know this is the norm. Due to lack of social distancing, Didn’t want to eat in the breakfast room. our room was being worked on so we opted to eat In the “courtyard”. The chairs were piled up in the corner…no where to sit! So we rearranged the chairs. When I tried to go back into the Lobby to use the restroom (I forget to mention our toilet didn’t flush, had to manually fill the tank with water) the door was broken I I had to walk around the hotel to get back in. There was a sign that door lock was broken In The courtyard, but not when you went in…so it was already too late since the door automatically locked!
The “market” refrigerator where you can normally purchase light bites to eat was empty.
The A/C was never really adequate….and getting ready and dressed for a wedding is very uncomfortable in a hot stuffy room on a 90 degree day.
I have pictures to document...
