I would like to take a moment and express to Oscar Marks how much I enjoyed my guided float trip down the Gunnison River. He helped me to learn to handle my fishing as I was new to float fishing. He gave me some great new techniques to use as we fished along with the proper choice of flies for the different times of the day. The fishing was great and our conversations were not only instructional but also enjoyable all day long. His patience and teaching techniques allowed me to understand what I could do better and he never tired of coaching me! Of all the guides I have fished with over many years I would recommend Oscar to anyone--new or experienced--he has something to offer every angler. He kept me in the perfect position to maximize my chances at catching rainbows and browns all day! I see this review I posted got a response from the owner. The response is insulting. I have to wonder if you read what I wrote. Of course I did not make a purchase. Moreover, what you wrote is a lie. Your shop guy looked me in the eye and repeated "we do not have a public restroom." The door to it was open and visible from your sales floor. Not out of order by a longshot!

I travel from Denver to fish the Taylor nearly every week. A couple of weeks ago, before you closed for the winter, I broke my wading staff. I spent that $220 at Gene Taylor's. That will continue.

I will not spend another dollar at this shop. I refuse to do business with an establishment that would rather I pee my pants than let me use their restroom! I’m a senior citizen and when I have to go, I have to go. I had been fishing all day on the Taylor. Stopped for streamers and 0X tippet. Politely asked to urgently use the restroom and was told there is a restaurant across the street....

I have been coming to Gunnison at least once a year since 2014. I really enjoy the area and have tried multiple locations: East River, Spring Creek, Taylor, and the Gunnison. This year I decided to hire a guide. What a game changer! It was a huge benefit to get a local guy who knows the waters around here to show me some areas you can’t see from a casual look from a pull-off. Also, some new areas I’ve never explored before. My guide for the day was Gavin. Don’t let the fact that he’s from “New York City!” fool you. He’s a great guy to spend the day fishing with and is an expert on the local waters. Even though I’m pretty seasoned fly fisherman myself, he gave me a lot of good pointers and some new techniques that I’m excited to get out...
