We needed a place for the family to stay overnight while in the area, and were looking more for price than quality. So our expectations were low, but this place still didn't meet them.
When we tried checking in, I guess somebody just started laundry in the next room (utility), which flipped the breaker. They asked us to stand in the dark lobby while they went to the electrical panel to flip it. These things happen, but it wasn't a great first impression to realize the electrical infrastructure and who knows what else was not designed for the number of rooms they rent out.
We were assigned to the rooms on the end, near the dumpster. It looked fine - , no obvious mechanical issues, no odor. There was only one electrical outlet we could find in the whole room though, so charging multiple devices or working in the hotel room isn't really an option.
Then our neighbors started talking in regular voices, and we could clearly hear every word they said. The walls are paper thin, especially in the bathrooms. I let my kids know that we needed to whisper; cheap is one thing, but poorly designed with no privacy isn't acceptable. Watching TV is not an option unless you want angry neighbors.
Finally, we had a chance to check out the bedding. The spreads have numerous holes from longtime wear (included a picture of a few of the holes). I found a used toilet paper roll just under the edge of the bed (included picture). The lack of any type of deep clean before renting out a room is very worrying - I don't want to worry about what sickness or bedbug I might acquire from a previous guest after a superficial cleaning, and that was a definite concern for me here.
Between the bad electrical design, thin walls, worn out and holy bedding, and lack of cleanliness, I would suggest you look for other accommodations. You can find others in the area for a similar price, but with...
Read moreThis is probably the worst room I've ever stayed in. I'll start with the pros. Soft bed on an oversized bed frame. Cons: tub doesn't drain because the valve that controls the drain is missing the handle and has a screw in the hole. cant open bathroom window because the lock is busted and it's stuck in the locked position .Random stains on the walls(looked like blood), someone spilled nail polish on the bathroom floor. looks like someone attempted to clean it by smearing it around then gave up,broken toilet seat only connected by one of the fasteners, no lamp on nightstand the only light is the overhead light which probably has 100 w bulb in it, The electrical receptacle that the TV plugs into missing the whole cover. You can see drywall and exposed wiring, the plug receptacle near the bed, Only one of the plugs worked. The other one doesn't because it's so loose. It won't even hold anything you plug into it, no coffee machine in the room, the lobby is never open. They communicate through a ring door Cam probably not even on site. No vending machines or ice machine on site, when I asked about it they said they're going through management problems. Cigarette burn holes in the sheet on the bed, the door looks like it's been busted up paint missing from the wall crumbling corners.Could hear neighbors TV through the paper thin walls til about 11pm. It shares a parking lot with a subway sandwich shop so it nonstop traffic coming and going. Their 3 star review average is laughable by my experience. Room 2 is terrible not worth 100 bucks!! I will post the pics of ALL my...
Read moreI had the unfortunate opportunity to stay here in August of 2014. I was too tired to keep driving the last couple of hours home, and the Holiday Inn Express had just booked their last room. They said the only place in town that still had a vacancy was Mac's. I asked the Holiday Inn girl if it was a clean place - her extreme hesitation to answer should have tipped me off. It was HORRIBLE. It literally stunk, but we needed to sleep, so I kept trying to psych myself into ignoring how disgusting it was. It was so bad that more than two weeks later, we're still grossed out (My teenager was with me - I feel like a terrible parent for allowing her to sleep in that place). I tried to sleep on top of the ancient mattress and bedding, afraid to crawl in, but I got chilly and and had to give in and get under the sheet. I could not sleep because of the smell, and when I rolled over in the night, I finally figured out that the smell was coming from my mattress. At 4:30 a.m, I couldn't take it any more. We got up, went to the nearby convenience store to buy some NoDoz for me, and hit the road. When we got home, we felt like we should have burned the clothes we'd slept in. I couldn't forget the smell. NEVER AGAIN. We will sleep in my car next time. It was so bad that I'm writing my first internet review in hopes of saving someone else from a...
