When I'm not enjoying my favorite dishes in Chicago, I'm traveling. I like to go to the Mountains in Carolina and was in Hendersonville recently. I was hungry and was looking for some good food. Maybe I'd have a burger, but It would have to be the best damn burger because I had some excellent burgers, but I was in the mood for the best damn burger. I found this spot called Guidon Brewing Company, 415 8th Ave, E Hendersonville, where I ordered the best damn burger.
I had
Smash burger/Blended meat/chuck, brisket, short rib, doubled patty - with drunk diced onions, slick pickles, American cheese, on brioche bread… Your mouth should be soaked and wet after reading this. I asked the chef for the play-by-play that I've just given you. If you have not been, what the hell are you waiting for? If you are not here, don’t complain about how thin and overcooked the burger is at whatever burger joint you go to instead of coming to Guidon...
Read moreUPDATE in response to owners reply. 3 people hanging out behind the bar, talking. One of them could have greeted us and taken a drink order and explained the process, especially with no 'order here' sign visible. It's not like the place was packed with people! My review stands.
I wouldn't recommend this place, at least based on the LACK of service we received. I heard about this place on NC Weekend and thought we'd stop in and check it out as it sounded interesting. We walked in around 4ish on a Friday, there were about 10 people at the bar and a small group out on the patio. We grabbed a table and waited for someone to greet us while we checked out the surroundings. It seemed like a nice place, clean, comfortable, not too loud, but after 12 minutes and not any kind of acknowledgement from any of the 5 staff we saw milling about, we got up and left. There are far better establishments that offer much more attentive service in...
Read moreI love meeting friend at Guidon for events or get togethers. This year, I was the president of the Hendersonville Woman's Club, and we had our holiday party in Guidon's lounge. And I love supporting this local brewery!
Their beer is delicious (I usually go with the Swartzbeir because I like dark beers)! But they have cocktail and non-alcoholic options as well.
The staff is so friendly and courteous! I've been there enough times that the owner, Connie, recognizes me. And she always such a good job of welcoming her patrons. Plus, the regular bar tenders are always fast and friendly, even if there's a line at the bar.
This is a great local watering hole to kick back, relax, and enjoy some authentic German-style beer.
For our get together, we had the party catered by Guidon's catering partner... But they do have a kitchen with a nice selection is you get the munchies while you're...
