My Husband booked a room and drove down Friday evening just to get away. We arrived around 7:45 PM and proceeded to check in counter. There were two attendees however there was a family with three small children checking in.
We stayed about six to eight feet away from the family for safety concern for all. Once my husband finished checking in we started for the room which was handicapped and placed at far end of hall way. I had phoned ahead of time and requested accommodation advising I can hardly walk. Offering to prepay room in advance for two nights.
We could not sleep through the night due to noise from room above sounding like stomping on floor. I phoned down and requested fresh towels while we were out to be informed a decision had been made not to enter guest rooms until vacated. I accepted and advised my husband to search for a basket within the room to place towels outside. When we returned the towels had been exchanged and new ones were in kitchen area in basket.
I was advised it was an extended stay and no room cleaning services were available.
We appreciated discounted rate of $99 plus tax, however generally disabled consumers are in this setting for a reason and there should be some accommodation. Establishments want business but seem to not want to provide services.
I know we will not use this source in t he future and Will pay fair pricing. $99 seemed more than fair, it just was not fair for a person who can barely walk, not in a wheel chair, to be shifted so far from front desk.
Room we were in was near an external exit, however there was a dumpster at the end of the walk way, Handicap parking was on the other end of the building. Room was also very cold, in August.
Nice try but you loose our business and any recommendations...
Read morePros: It's centrally and conveniently located with friendly front desk staff. The trail down to Bishop's Beach is right next to the hotel, and it's within easy walking distance of the grocery store and several fantastic restaurants.
Cons: It's loud. Part of that is that it's right on the highway, so traffic noise is to be expected, but they really skimped on insulation or sound proofing when they built this hotel because you can clearly hear the people talking in the hallway like they're standing in your room. Children were screaming up and down the hall until almost midnight, and then you have the folks leaving for fishing charters at like 5 am. The mattress and pillows were not great. Between the bad bed and all the noise of the other guests, it's not a very restful or relaxing hotel. Additionally, the remote for our TV was not functional, and we were told since they don't have a maintenance person after 3 pm, if we wanted a remote that worked, they'd have to move us to a new room. They also don't have daily housekeeping, which is stated on the website when you book and we were fine with, but our bathroom very noticeably hadn't been thoroughly cleaned before we checked in. There were weird sticky-looking orange splotches on the back of the...
