A gem in downtown Homer. Though somewhat small, it is crammed with exhibits that provide an insight into the people who came to Alaska for a fresh start. Lots of interact areas with audio about the settlers, plan to spend a lot of time if you get hooked on one of the stories. We also enjoyed the videos in the basement area with the wildlife displays. A plus for my wife who is a quilter were a number of quilts around the building including one that was being raffled off.

Read moreThis was just okay. There was an art exhibit going on when we were here. The Harrington house outside was cool to learn about the early Homer homesteading. This part is free. The museum proper costs $15 for adults if you’re not a member. It has a variety of Alaskan related memorabilia, including some taxidermy of wild life. It's not a large building by any means, (but they do really maximize the use of the space that is available. There's art, videos, and information on the native peoples of the area, the history of the region, and life in a small seafaring community.
