Save-U-More — Local services in Homer

I'm glad we have it, better than nothing. I wish it was locally owned, it would be a lot better. The DELI is the best. If you can drive to COSTCO, you'll pay ½ on most. Example.....chocolate covered coffee beans. $22 at Costco, where SUM gets their products from, SUM raises that price to $45. That's....ummm... not because of shipping..... that's down right sick greed. Owners, not employees. The employees are wonderful locals. Owners are not Alaskans. They price gouge. But.... given our shopping choices, they have what I need, if I can afford it, I'll get it.

The DELI...... GREAT PRICES. Very good food, good service, we eat here more than the other places in town, convenient, fast (kinda), good, and the prices are still low enough at the DELI to be worth it.

It has ups and downs but we appreciate it. Bathrooms are always cleaner than Safeway, but have an odd bad smell that never goes away,...

I was refused service for not wearing a face mask by a clerk who wore a mask below their nose. I was offered a mask of questionable provenence (poorly wrapped, no labeling, unclear indications for use, etc.) The masks in question are neither designed to prevent virion transmission nor cleared by the FDA for said indications for use. In fact, the safety and effectiveness concerns associated with such masks present certain health risks. Although Save-U-More is simply capitulating to imprudent public health guidance that is little more than a placebo, I am very unlikely to shop there in the future--even after the current mask hysteria. Amazon delivers products of better quality, cheaper. I prefer to wait for products or to identify more reasonable businesses than to spend money at a business that employs...

I love this store, especially considering that it's one of only two actual grocery stores in Homer, Alaska. The other one being a Carrs/Safeway store. They're also very competitive, price wise, with the Carr's store.

Their pies, and other baked goods, are done in the store, and second to none. The meat department is supplied by McNeil Canyon Meats. It's definitely an extremely high quality butcher shop and processor of sausages and other custom meats. The pet department is fully stocked with natural and organic foods and treats. The Deli makes the best carryout pizza in town, JMHO. The other foods available are generous portions at unbelievably low prices. It's a bit off the beaten path, but easy to find. I highly...
