Great hotel. We stayed at the Rainbow Tower 3rd floor. While the hotel is pretty old, it was comfortable especially for our family. Our room faces the lagoon even though we booked partial ocean view.

Beds are small. While a lot of resorts offer 2 queen size, this tower/hotel does not. One bed is well used, the springs stick out and caused a bad night sleep. We got used to it but not everybody will.

The elevator call system is horrendous. You call the elevator based on the floor you request with an elevator calling system. During peak times where everybody needs to use the elevator, the elevator calling system will only call one elevator. The problem is that there are more people than the elevator can fit. As a result, we are waiting 15 minutes just to go up to our floor or down to the lobby since it doesn’t know how many people need to use it. With 5 elevators in the tower (A through to E), that is not acceptable. With other resorts, you may get extra floor stops but at least there is a chance to squeeze it to any elevators that would stop. With their system, you have to wait for a particular elevator they would visit your floor based on the scheduling algorithm. Even during non-peak checkin time, it takes forever.

We didn’t use the room service nor cleaning/turnover. However the staff was very helpful and attentive when we needed something like extra towels, toilet paper, tissues, etc. We did received a warning that the hotel reserve the rights to inspect our room for our safety, but they did not enter our room despite the warning and the privacy door sign.

The tower was easy access to main lobby (front desk), ABC stores (brief walk), and the beach.

Kids loved the Paradise pool, so it was easy walk from our tower. We can easily see how busy it is from our room.

We can see the “real” rainbow from our room/balcony after the rain when the sun is shining. Maybe that’s why it...

Stayed in the rainbow tower on the 16th floor ocean view. View is absolutely stunning. There are two sliding doors that you can open and allow the breeze to come in. So nice. One balcony faced the city. The other the ocean. You can see the star light luau from the city side as well. Sat on the ocean balcony every morning to enjoy the view. Paradise. Several pools on site and you can go to all. The pool chairs are taken up early so if you go down later chances are you won’t get all the chairs you need for your family (lucky to get one). Fireworks on Friday was AMAZING. Started st around 8. Was a little crowded but was worth it. They put on a great display. Resort has several places to eat as well on site within walking distance. Wiki wiki cafe had the BEST shave ice (get the milk with it so yummy). Has several different places to shop (ice cream, coffee, clothing stores and souvenirs) on site. The only “negative” that I can say was this resort was almost like a tourist attraction. By that I mean it is always crowded (pool, elevator, sidewalks, dining). Have to wait for elevator and lines. Elevator was worst during “peak hours”.

Lagoon was nice. Calm, clear and had small fish in it). Kids loved it. Water was cool in lagoon but you get use to it. Can rent several things (water boards, aqua cycles, kayak) there too. No waves. Food truck at the end. Nice and quiet.

Ocean is beautiful. Reef helps break up most waves. You can see the bottom all the way out. Minor waves. Saw sea turtles every day. If you get here early you have almost the entire thing to yourself. Still have plenty of room when people get there.

All in all the best resort we’ve...

Stayed here for 1 night while on a cruise, the hotel came highly rated online for its view and location. Upon arrival I was greeted with a zoo of people in queuing lines for check in as if I was going through airport tsa. Heavily filled with tourists. 60$ resort charge on top of your stay and 65$ up charge on parking as well is not included. After all that I then was pointed in direction of the tower I needed to be in but had to ask several people along the way because the place is so vast it’s easy to get lost when there’s zero direction given by staff. I reached my room which I paid for oceanfront at 750$ along the way elevators were disgusting looked as if they hadn’t been wiped or cleaned in months. Strolling down the hallway the carpet is littered with stains and chipped paint. The room itself yes had an amazing view but the carpet was unclean and had hair from past customers, as well as chipped pain, broken tiles, dust bunny in corners of room, furniture was in disarray scratched smudged and beat up. For 750$ I would expect this place to be well kept, for me the vibe I get is that this is pure profit and little to no money going into this establishment literally looked like a holiday inn vibe. Air vents were caked with dust and mildew visibly noticeable. If you wanted to enjoy the balcony good luck I did not even get to go outside the neighbor on balcony next to me was smoking blunts constantly and just absolutely stinking up the whole area morning and evening, when I tried to complain to staff and get some sort of compensation for the bad experience they denied me stating that if they can’t catch them there’s nothing...

Great views, central location, very friendly staff. I'm a top level rewards member at Hilton, Hyatt, and Marriott. The waikiki hotel market has such high volume that the hotels don't need to offer great service or services at the $250/night price point. Only three stars because the rainbow tower has terrible noise problems, I heard all of the neighboring rooms conversation. The pool is right beneath the rainbow tower, so it's screaming kids all day long, and howling adults in the evening. The maintenance crews start with beeping tractors and leaf blowers at 6am. This isn't island solitude, it sounds like I am in Brooklyn near an elementary school. Plus, the hotel has consistently reduced its service level, HHonors benefits, and upkeep over the past ten years. I've stayed in four of the Hilton towers (not the Grand vacation facility.) I've been staying in this Hilton hotel over the past decade. Five years ago was when they really started decreasing the benefits for HHonors members by eliminating the lounge, and no longer offering complimentary breakfast. For a $50 resort fee, I basically get access to a beach towel after a 20 minute wait in line. I was in hawaii on vacation, and needed a hotel for a week unexpectedly. So I figured I would give the Hilton Waikiki Village another try after five years of not staying here. Unlikely that I would book here again. I'd try my luck at the other end of Waikiki. I'm sure the owners are happy, I suspect profits are up.
