Oak Park Inn — Hotel in Hot Springs

We didn't stay the night there even though we had a reservation. It's in a terrible area and having never been to Hot Springs I had no idea it was in such a bad part of town (there's a pawn shop across the street and a very unsavory apartment complex). The room itself was clean enough, had probably been updated and smelled old but was bigger than newer hotel rooms tend to be. My toddler said she was "scared" though twice, my husband felt like someone would break into our car, and I didn't feel safe leaving my purse there while we went to dinner so we just simply couldn't stay there! My husband went to the office to tell the manager we didn't feel safe there and he refused to refund our money even though we were there 5 minutes tops. Do NOT book at this hotel!!! The Holiday Inn is not that much more and much nicer, not to mention the customer experience is way better! Or, stay somewhere near Bathhouse Row, not the racetrack! 85$...

This place doesn't deserve a single star however, I have no choice. I pulled in to the parking lot, awaiting for the rest of my family to pull into the same parking lot. So that we all could go inside to get rooms, however as I was waiting outside the owner (so he claimed) walked to the car & told my wife & I to leave. My wife tells him we are waiting to get a room, which he replied no waiting, leave now, I'm am owner, you blacks leave. Before my wife could say anything more, I told him fine. He then walks all around the parking lot till we pull off. We make our calls directing our family members to another hotel, before pulling off. My wife & I have never had this experience at this location before. I will not becoming back be of this. I hope next time tell treat potential...

Im from out of town and rent a room today. The owner asked me how many people I said two he said well Im gonna need both peoples ID I asked why. He never answered he proceeded to ask me where Im from I said why, he said because I no all the local and your not one of them. I said what does that have to do with you renting me a room. All the while hes eyeing the way Im dressed. He goes on well both people are goinh to have to be here. I said I never heard of anything like this he says its not me its tbe police. I will never go back to this motel an I would never refer anyone to this motel ever. Worst experience ever and we were really in need of some rest. He never considered that the other person could have been a child....
