Overall, my week's stay was pleasant. My room was not thoroughly clean and it had a dowdy appearance. However, I could easily see some improvements that had been made, like very nice floor tile in the bathroom. I appreciated the big, white fluffy towels! The maids checked every day and gave me fresh towels, et al. My primary concern was the morning breakfast area. It was poorly stocked at times and not clean. Tables should be wiped regularly and the food should be lochecked to see that the coffee is hot and that there is milk, cups, & bowls. One morning, the coffee was made but cold. Since there was no coffee available during breakfast hours on this particular Sunday, I asked at the front desk for a couple filters to take to my room to make my coffee in the room. The clerk refused. This is very poor service. I shouldn't have to microwave my coffee! All during the week, a clerk named Ken was absolutely wonderful, answering questions and giving good directions. My final morning, however, a different clerk was attending the front desk. He was not friendly. He came to my room, "reminding me" it was time to go. I am an adult and can tell time! (He later told me that I had to get out because the room was rented already. I found that a little lame since the entire motel was practically empty...)Too, the lobby's north exit door was filthy, so I did not use it. If I did use it, I always used a kleenix as a barrier. People's sweat, dirt, & body cells get on doors, tables, and door handles and these kinds of areas need constant & daily attention, because these areas get sticky from the residue. Yay, Ken! He was a great clerk. The motel is in a fabulous location for walking to many of the sites. This motel gave me a weekly rate, which I appreciated. The breakfast is just fine, unless you are a pig. One bowl of cereal, or a roll with juice is plenty, in my opinion. Just make sure that whatever the breakfast hours are, adhere to them & management needs to check more frequently to be sure there is food and that the machines are working. I also used the washing machine, which was wonderful! Overall. I recommend this motel primarily because of its location to downtown sites. If you are busy site seeing or doing research & you only need a bed & shower (and not exercise rooms, swimming pools & a barista), I certainly recommend this motel. Everything you need is within a short walk. Again, kudos to Ken! This rating is for a motel in Springfield, Illinois!! It is NOT for the Fountain Motel. How on God's green earth could you get the wrong hotel for my...
Read moreLove this old motel. So much history. Beautiful stucco. In it's early years was the place to stay. Easy walking to Oaklawn Horse racing. Had a cafe!! NOW she needs a facelift and house keepers that CLEAN. NO bugs. It's for sale. A piece of history that could be saved. New owners w a vision?? Hot Springs has done very poor job in keeping several landmarks fall away. To many chain stores. But The Fountain is nice spot. Hot Springs city police are some of the finest. I can safely walk to the Casino. Managers husband & wife keep eyes on...
Read moreI really liked this placed cuz they were always good to me. When I started staying daily...things really got to me. Housekeeping never really came, except to give clean towels. The trash never taken out, floor never swept. The cost for the room is a lil too much. They need to find a good matience person to actually fix it up a bit. The older guy says one thing and the lady says another. And no visitors....like I get that but not everyone is trappin...
