n Sunday, July 27, 2025 I checked into Room 411 and I observed a small roach on the wall in the shower area. I immediately killed it and walked to the front desk to report the finding. I requested for my room to be sprayed with some bug repellent, but no one ever contacted me about my request.||||Later that night I felt a little uneasy about falling asleep because of the roach that I saw in the shower. I told my children to keep their suitcases closed at all times because of the roach that I observed in the shower area.||||On Wednesday, July 29, at 11:00pm, I began to clean the cooler bag that was on the carpet in my room. I immediately observed a bigger roach crawling inside of my cooler bag. I ran to the bathroom and tilted the cooler towards the toilet bowl in an attempt to drown the roach because there was water inside of it. When I tilted the cooler bag towards the toilet bowl, most of the water came out. The brown roach began to crawl towards the top of the bag, so I grabbed a piece of tissue and tried to swipe the roach out of the bag into the toilet bowl. I began looking for the roach inside of the toilet bowl, but I could not find it. I looked at my right forearm and observed the roach on my freaking arm. I immediately screamed and swiped the roach on to the floor. It started to crawl, and I immediately stepped on the roach. I had to wash my sandal off to remove the remains of the roach.||||I felt violated and disgusted! I immediately responded to the front desk and spoke to (JP), who was extremely nice. I explained to JP what happened, and he apologized. I requested to be put into another room on the 1st floor, but he did not have a room on the 1st floor. He stated that he could put me on the 5th floor in a room. I requested not to be put in the same room that a teammate of mine was in when we first arrived because she filed a complaint about roaches being in her room. While talking to JP I didn't know the room number of that my teammate was in at that present time. He stated to me that she was in Room 509 and was moved to Room 421. He gave me the key to room 527 and told me to go and check it out. ||||I responded to Room 527 and looked around and sprayed Lysol on the bed and other areas of the room. I observed dust in the corners of the room, hair and food crumbs behind the bed. I walked back to room 411 and told my girls to start packing their belongings. I told them to shake out the clothing items that were in their suitcases to make sure no roaches were inside of them. This took at least an hour to pack up and move upstairs. I was extremely frustrated and very tired because both of my girls ran a race at the Jr. Olympics earlier that day. ||||Once everything was pack up, we entered the elevator in the middle of the hallway and walked to Room 527. I told both of my girls to get into the bed because it was about 1am and they were extremely tired. I began to unpack and do a more thorough search of the room. I observed 3 dead roaches (see attached) in the closet area of the room. I immediately felt sick to my stomach and disgusted. I responded to the front desk and made JP aware of the situation. I asked if he was the only employee working that night and he stated yes. JP is disabled and is in a wheelchair, so I didn't think it would be appropriate for him to sweep up dead roaches. I requested for a broom/dustpan, and I followed him to the kitchen area to get it. I responded back to the room and swept the roaches into the dustpan. I brought the broom/dustpan downstairs and emptied the roaches in the trash can by the water fountain and observed a lot of fleas flying around the trash can. I reported that to JP as well and left the broom/dustpan by the kitchen door.||||I responded to the Room 527 and began to unpack my clothing items. I began to hang my sun dresses in the closet, but I changed my mind because of the dead roaches I had just seen earlier. I placed my sundresses in the top drawer and closed it. I began to open the second drawer and observed several roaches crawling around in the drawer. At this point, I was extremely upset, and I could not stay at the hotel. I contacted my ex-husband who was staying in a room on the first floor and requested for him to take us to a different hotel. ||||After waking the girls up and calling around to find a hotel it was about 3am. We finally got everything downstairs to the front lobby and I told JP what happened, and he apologized to me. He attempted to give me a refund but stated that he could not complete the transaction because it was booked by the Police Athletic League. He told me to contact the manager in the morning, and he would send an email to the manager as well.||||I responded to the Holiday Inn, but they were sold out.||||I responded to the Marriot Hotel, and they were able to book a room with two double beds for me. (Great hotel by the way) ||||My girls were frightened by the situation, and they were extremely tired on the following day. Everything that happened is UNACCEPTABLE. I do NOT have roaches at home and when I travel and stay in a hotel, I expect for the hotel room to be clean and meet my standards. ||||The staff is amazing, but I feel as though your hotel need to be exterminated. ||||I spoke to several managers during this time period and Amber stated that pest control was contacted and that didn't find anything, however I spoke to at least four people from our group several hours later, who stated they had roaches in their room, and some were moved to another room. ||||I also found out that my teammate was initially in Room 527, and I stated to JP that I did not want to be in the same room that she moved out of. I don't know if JP was confused, but my teammate stated to me that she was initially in Room 527 and was moved to 421. ||||The manager gave me 15,000 points and refunding me for 3 days, being that I had to stay at a different hotel. They also refunded 3 other people $100 because they complained about roaches being in their rooms. ||||Attach to this google review you will find my Marriot Hotel Receipts, pictures of roaches in Room 527 from my phone and pictures of roaches in Room 527 from my teammate's phone.||||Please do not stay there because I feel as though the hotel is roach infested. I suggested to the manager that they shut down the hotel for a least a week to spray, but I do not believe they did. ||||Whenever you stay at a hotel, there should NOT be dead roaches on the floor. Apparently, they're not cleaning the rooms, and they have a roach problem if I found dead roaches on the floor. This experience was HORRIBLE, and I hope no one has to experience what I did. ||||I'm sorry that it took so long to post what I experienced. Again, the staff was great and the manager, Mark Yakoubek was super nice and handled the situation. His supervisor, Amber never called me back after I reported the incident. She basically told me that I needed to speak with the person who booked my room. I explained to her in an email that I was the person who stayed in the room, and I deserved a call back from her. ||||It should also be noted that after speaking to other teammates they confirmed that it was roaches in their rooms, but they didn't report it. ...
Read moreUpdate - Stayed here again about 6 weeks later for over a week due to renovations. This time I had to do laundry and was glad they have a w/d on the 1st floor. Front desk was able to give me a roll of quarters for cash. Still good experience with the only complaint that they served meatballs 3 times out of the 6 nights I've been here so far. It is my least favorite and is annoying to be served the same meal on Monday, Thursday and Saturday. They served bbq sliders on Tues, tacos on Wed and on Friday chicken pasta. I hope to not be served meatballs again but they said Sunday is bbq sliders and meatballs AGAIN on Tues, plus tacos are gone. Menu is dictacted by corporate and now only have 3 dinners. They seriously need to vary the menu more. That said, I do really like this hotel, it is a good deal for the price, is very clean, and feels safer to me than many other hotels at this price point in Houston.
I needed a place to stay with my 2 cats for a week due to some work at home. Neat and clean hotel, well worth the price. My room was super clean! This is a great location in the Galleria near shopping and restaurants. Traffic is bad at rush hour but that is H-Town. It is well maintained and no ick factor.
You have the option to skip housekeeping and on those days you earn points.
The security is excellent. You need a keycard to get into the gated parking lot and the building at night. There is a security guard who walks around at night. Also cameras in the parking lot. I felt really safe.
My room was on 3rd floor overlooking the pool and palm trees, nice view. Near 2 elevators, one is glass which was cool. The lounge area in front is nice and comfortable with a high ceiling to top floor. The best part is I could bring my cats for a fee of $50 per day.
The king bed room was spacious enough with a large desk and comfortable office chair. The overstuffed armchair, bed and pillows were also comfy. There was a large TV with cable, mini fridge and microwave. The bath and tiolet were separated by a door from the sink and closet. A/C works great and it is over 100 outside. Everything in the room worked including the bathtub stopper. You can hear faintly other people including from the pool outside but pool closes at 10pm.
The dining area could have used a little more frequent cleaning of the tables, it was busy. They serve a hot breakfast as well as dinner. Breakfast was your standard fare and quality that most hotels include, eggs, sausage, biscuits, whole fruit, waffles, breads, cereal, juice and coffee. The dinner was very good, 1st night here was bbq pork sliders, mac n cheese, coleslaw, chili, nacho chips with cheese and mixed lettuce with dressing. They rotate menu daily. It is a free happy hour with drinks... I don't drink but everyone looked happy to get the free alcohol lol.
The pool area is great. Pool was clean, and has palm trees around it with patio seating. Also a tiny work out room with some barbells and treadmills.
There is a small sitting area in the back entrance as well with brochures on things to do in the area.
The staff were all very nice. I would definitely stay here again 100% and recommend it to anyone looking for a clean, well run hotel for a good price! You just don't find many gems like this one at this price...
Read moreOn June 27, 2025 I checked into Room 411. I observed a small roach in the shower area and killed it. I immediately reported it to the front desk and asked if they could spray my room, but no one ever responded. Two days later I was cleaning out my cooler bag and observed a large roach crawling around in the bag. I immediately ran to the bathroom in an attempt to flush it down the toilet. While scooping it into the toilet the roach landed on my arm!! I was so disgusted and immediately went to the front desk and requested for another room. I was put in Room 527, but unbeknownst to me, another parent requested to move from that room the day before because she saw roaches. After packing everything up I moved my two daughters to Room 527. It was extremely late, and they had a track meet on the following day at the Jr. Olympics. While placing my items in the dresser drawer I observed roaches crawling around. I attempted to get a video, but the roaches would not come back out. I IMMEDIATELY checked out the ROACH HOTEL because I was very frustrated and felt so disgusted. The manager refunded my money approximately 1 month later. I checked into the Marriot Hotel that is across the freeway. (Great Hotel by the way) After speaking to other parents in the hotel, they reported finding roaches in their rooms, and 3 of them were refunded $100 for the inconvenience. I spoke to other parents, and they stated they observed roaches crawling in their rooms but did not report it. The regional manager (Amber) supposedly contacted the pest control, but they didn't find any roaches. I find that quite strange, because I have pictures on the dead roaches in Room 527. Unfortunately, I didn't take pictures of the roaches in Room 427, because I killed both of them. In conclusion, please do not stay at this hotel because they're in denial about infestation in the hotel. The STAFF was amazing, so I won't take that away from them but when you come and stay at a hotel you should not have to deal with ROACHES! You can find my entire review on TripAdvisor " Drury Inn & Suites Houston Near The Galleria" Subject: Roaches in Hotel, by Mrs. Boyd. I also found a complaint on the hotel from 2013, and someone complained of roaches, sorry it took so long to post! I hope that whoever has stayed at this hotel since June 27, 2025 did not take any ROACHES home with them. Again, I'm so disgusted and this was such a HORRIBLE experience for my kids and...
