Stayed here for a little over 30 days. The following written represents solely my opinion - If I had it give it a grade out of 5, I would give it a 4.4, or a B+. My key cards worked through my whole stay, which was great. I did not see any bugs in my room, A/C worked great the whole stay, WiFi was strong on my laptop everyday, but for some reason had to re-authenticate WiFi on my cell phone everyday. Bed was actually quite comfortable and I got good decent sleep every night. Maid service is once a week (for longer term stays). I am not sure about shorter stays. They have trash shoot room downstairs to manually take down any trash if you have to. Breakfast is very simple - granola bars, muffins, oatmeal, and coffee/tea, stuff like that, it's grab'n go.
NOISE - Was usually minimal, doors shut pretty hard, so neighbors nearby shutting doors early in morning may disturb sleep, depends on if you are a light sleeper. GYM - none at this hotel, but can use nearby Extend Stay America hotels if they have one. ICE MACHINE - None in this hotel, so make sure if you need ice, the ice cube trays in your freezer are filled up right as you check into your room, or you can go to nearby CVS to purchase. LAUNDRY - There is a coin operated laundry room on the first floor, I believe the washer is $2, and not sure how much dryer is, but there is also 2 vending machines in there, one for sodas, and one for snacks. UTENSILS - Yes they have them, you have to custom order utensils for your room. There is a little cardboard cutout that should be in the kitchen which lists the utensils - I ordered a coffee maker, 2 cooking pots, 2 plates, 2 mugs, silverware, toaster, and a drying rack for dishes. They delivered it to my room and it's included in your nightly rate. Room had a comfy bed, iron board (stained though), working iron, several lamps, big chest of drawers, TV, Study Desk, few hangers and tons of closet hanging space, small microwave, cooking range, small sink, and decent sized dining table with bar-stools (no oven, however).
TV worked great and I had no issues with it. Bathroom was okay sized and served the needs. SAFETY - never really felt unsafe. Lot's of lighting at night for cars parked and security guard walking around after a certain time. Lock your car and don't leave any valuables inside. Front desk people were quite helpful for the most part. If you want to trade in some towels, just take them downstairs during business hours, before 11pm and they usually swap them out for you. Fees - Seems like a lot of negative reviews on here are about surprise or hidden fees that they didn't expect. I didn't see a fee list posted at this hotel's counter, but did see one at the Westheimer location and took a picture of it and attached a photo. They should put a fee list in every room, so customers are aware of them. Their corporate HQ should take a look at relaxing some of them, otherwise they will keep having customers writing negative reviews about their frustrations with these extra fees.
If you are going to stay long-term here, I would recommend you bring some liquid hand soap, dish washing liquid, paper towels, extra toilet paper, Lysol disinfectant spray, and little disposable things like that. Also, if you stay 30 continuous days or more here or at any hotel, remember, in the state of Texas, you get all of your Taxes back (which I believe is 17% here). So, you can either apply that credit towards your next stay, or get those taxes refunded back to your credit card (which I did), but you have to let the front desk know how you want that tax refund back. I hope this review comes to be useful for someone, sorry it's so...
Read more*I stayed here AND THIS MESSAGE IS FOR ALL THE PEOPLE WHO COMMENTED on this extended stay location. *
LISTEN:
YOU GET what YOU PAY FOR IN THIS LIFE. This is an Extended Stay. This is NOT a high end Hitlon Hotel, this is NOT the 4 Seasons, this ain't even the Marriot. This isn't even The Holiday Inn
The average price for any of the hotels i just mentioned above are AT LEAST $150 a night...... .....The average price for extended Stays is generally $50 to $80 a night. So you already are getting a huge discount compared to what the majority of Americans are paying in regards to hotels.
Extended Stays are not really "hotels." They are short term housing solutions for people who are in a TRANSITION in their lives. People who need a quick 3 month to 9 month stay without needing to sign a contract.
"Transition" means someone who just moved into a new city and hasn't signed a lease for their apartment yet, or someone who just got divorced, or someone who is waiting for their new home to be built.
This place or any other Extended Stay is not supposed to be some type of Luxury Style living for a discount price!!! THAT DOESNT EXIST.
Alot of people in this comment section are entitled. They want Extended Stay to provide a luxury or high standard living experience while ONLY charging $50 to $80 a night !!!! These people cannot afford a high-end hotel but want Extended Stay to provide them that experience with only $75 LMAO !!!!! ITS LAUGHABLE.
This location does everything you need. The basics. Thats it. Nothing more. And it is priced that way.
You need a quick kitchen? You need a quick bed? Quick wifi ? A general bathroom with shower? Extended Stay does that. And it does that in the MOST EXPENSIVE AREA IN HOUSTON.......THE FREAKING GALLERIA !!!!!!!
I hope you commentators understand that this area is filled with MULTI MILLIONAIRES WITH MULTI MILLION DOLLAR High rise condos and mansions. This area literally has one of the most expensive malls in America located just 1 minutes from this Extended Stay.
I am surprised Extended Stay even built a location here to serve the general public to be honest.
In review:
You get what you pay for in this life. If you are paying "$50 to $80 a night" for a hotel in the 4rth Largest city in the USA.....HOUSTON.......then you will get "$50 to $80 level" service.
This Extended Stay is fine FOR WHAT IT IS. Its relatively cheap and it's good for people who just need a couple months to stay somewhere until they get to their next destination in this life.
Alot of you are complaining but you don't have the money to stay somewhere REAL NICE or you wouldn't be at an Extended Stay to begin with. Alot of you can't afford a new Rolex or a new Ferrari. You can't afford a Hitlon or a 4 Seasons. Some of you can't afford to shop at the Galleria much less afford a high end home in this area but you want to look down on a Extended Stay.
I fully support the Staff here and fully support what the Extended Stay company is at least trying to accomplish.
This location is fine, the people who look down on this area but don't have the money to really live in the Galleria are the REAL TRASH.
YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR IN AMERICA..... .....YOU GOTTA "PAY TO PLAY."
You negative average people are trash trying to look down on this location
RANT DONE...
Read moreI booked a room for my Labor Day weekend from September 3-6 at Extended Stay America Houston - Galleria - Uptown. I gotta say that it was a HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE!!!! I live in Florida and decided to spend the weekend in Houston. You know get to know a new city and feel like a tourist. I got to the hotel and Daniel, I donât know he was the manager on duty but was the only representative there, ask me if I had a reservation. I said: âYes here is my ID and a credit card.â When he saw my name he said: âOh sorry we had to cancel your reservation, we are overbooked and the only thing I can do is give you a refund.â I felt homeless since I did not know anybody in that city, and what was supposed to be a really great weekend was about to become a nightmare. I kindly explained him that I was from another state, I did know anybody else in that city, and there was no way that my reservation was cancelled since I booked this reservation in advance. He said: âit has happened even to people that came from Louisiana.â Then, I gad this AHA moment. I realized that a couple of days ago there was a hurricane in Louisiana and everyone was driving to Texas. So what I think that happened was that since a lot of people from Louisiana will come in Extended Stay decided to cancel all reservation to âHELP OR HOSTâ people affected by the hurricane. Of course at a higher price per night. I felt dishonored because Extended Stay was not just taking advantage of people that were affected by the hurricane but I also felt that they were taking advantage of me. After 53 minutes going back and forth with booking.com representative Daniel went from NOT having any rooms available to have rooms. I got my keys and when I walked the hallways the carpet and the whole place was filthy. But it does not end there. I think that Extended Stay location should change their name from Extended Stay America Houston - Galleria - Uptown to Extended Stay America Houston BYOE (BRING YOUR OWN EVERYTHING). First of all I walked in room 205 and it smelled so weird. I could not find what was rotten. I looked everywhere and could not find what was that smell. But at that point I had to settle because any other hotel was going to charge me 3 times more for the short notice booking. Anyways, do you remember that this hotel was BYOE (BRING YOUR OWN EVERYTHING)? There were no towels, I could not turn the TV on because the batteries in remote were dead. I notice that there was not a single small trash can. Not even in the bathroom. There was no soap or shampoo. Thank God I always bring my own shampoo and soap. Finally, the premisses need to be safer after 11pm nobody is at the front desk. Representatives go somewhere in the back and leave a walkie talkie at the desk to be reach. Again, it was incredible. So, guest do not forget that this location is a BYOE (BRING YOUR OWN EVERYTHING) so donât forget: towels, blanket, batteries, soap, trashcans, shampoo, and Lotion. Until next time, if there is a...
