Most of us that can afford to eat out, are not eating out for the food, but convenience, and service. In the DFW, there are thousands of choices with food service. Thousands. More opening daily, because some of them fail, due to poor service. If a corp doesn't care, the business can advertise all they want, and still fail. The Golden Chick in Hurst has chosen to hire a manager names Silvia, that truly exemplifies all that is wrong with the industry. Cares nothing for customers, the corporation she represents, and will no doubt just be there until she finds a new place to disappoint customers and her employee turn over rate will cause each business money. The collective of our reviews is enough to put a ding in each business we review, or help the good ones thrive. So this matters.
Golden Chick has an F rating with the BBB. That should tell you something about the way corp handles customer concerns. I am done with them. Nothing could convince me to return. We have more chicken places in my area than you can throw a drumstick at. Include all the grocers sell prepped meals and chicken of all varieties? There is no need to suffer one business in any category.
The food is awesome at Golden Chick. but service is a part of the meal, as that is what makes it a value. So I cannot give them what the food deserves. The ads on TV and radio are great to get us there, but the attitude of the managers kill the benefit of the ads.
If I leave the store without paying, that is called theft. In the same way, I should be able to trust that if I use my gas to get to your store, and pay in advance, I should be able to have full trust that when I open my bag at home, exactly what I ordered is in the bag, or you have stolen my money, and wasted my gas. I should not have to make two trips for one order. And I should not have to check my order. Check our orders twice before they go out the window.
Fast food workers work hard for the most part. Most of them do an excellent job, but even they know which workers are giving their industry a bad name. They too are customers at other businesses in their market, and wouldn't dare go to their own store as customers.
Golden Chick corporate is not responsive, or even reactive. They do not care. So a new Bojangles opened, and Raising Canes and Chick-Fil-A are consistently above and beyond awesome in this segment. Done with Golden Chick. My only regret is that I am sure there are some great employees at that store, and how they are not able to speak up when a manager is wrong, at risk of being fired. To them, I apologize in advance that you have to deal with subpar management. I did not say substandard, as this is standard for this business.
Peace folks. Take care. Go eat here anyway. No way you shouldn't suffer like...
Read more3 stars since the food was decent as it usually is. However, the service was way below par on this most current visit. Went into restaurant, so FACE TO FACE with the young lady taking the order. Asked for a meal. Asked for an extra roll. Asked for 3 sides of bbq sauce. When we got our meal it came with the gravy instead off bbq. Got back up to ask for bbq, SHE HANDED ME 2, i said can I have 1 more? Looked at the plate again and noticed only 1 roll... went back to counter and stood there. Had to ask for someone to give me their attention and when I did it was the cook. I said we asked for a second roll and only recieved one. He looked at the screen where the orders come up in the kitchen, once placed, and proceeded to tell me it wasnt on the order. I said fine I'll pay for it. Got my debt card and he took my card with his hand that was COVERED in flour and probably raw chicken, no gloves even. Then he told me my card was declined and looked at a lady who probably should have been the one helping me out and she said the card wont run for less than a dollar. (Roll was 75 cents) So by this time I'm pretty upset because now I have to get mad in order to even get a roll I tried to order in the first place. I said well I dont know what to tell you because I asked for the roll when I paid for my meal and I dont have cash, so...? And magically I finally got a roll that cost them almost nothing in the first place for free because they screwed up... in the first place. btw if I did the review on the receipt for my order I could get 4 free rolls with any purchase. Funny how I could have just given a bad review and gone up to counter, bought something relatively cheap and could have gotten 4 rolls for free, but they couldn't just give me the roll i had asked for already and was willing to pay for originally and then again when i was told it wasnt part of my order. It is as if they would rather have less customers and appear as though they need 75 cents than just to hand over a roll for...
Read moreLast week we got a family pack of chicken tenders with sides that served four of us and had leftovers for the next day or so. The tenders were excellent. I never thought i would find chicken done this well; light, crunchy, no grease residue.
Today we had the 6 spicy tenders (not really that spicy) combo with fries and a large drink. The large drink is huge! Six tenders served as meal for two.
We also got the three fried catfish meal with mashed potatoes and green beans. It brought back memories of a place several miles north of Atlanta where they raised the catfish, caught them that day, and stayed open until they sold out. You had to get there early to assure something to eat.
The Golden Chick catfish are excellent. Like the chicken, they were light and done just right. The coating was breadcrumbs or coarse cornmeal (I'll check next time I'm there and i assure you there will be another time!) and i enjoyed them immensely.
As sides for the fish I went traditional and got the mashed potatoes and substituted the drink with green beans. They were another blast from the past experience reminding me of my grandfather in southern Alabama who ate green beans doused with homemade hot pepper sauce. Not that Golden Chick green beans are hot but the texture and flavors were very southern like those served at Wednesday night dinners at chuch. Grandpa Charlie would love them!
I regret I have not visited Golden Chick sooner. I just assumed they were "yet another fried chicken place". You know: greasy, cheap cuts of chicken made to look better than it tastes. You bite into it and there's grease inside the skin! That is absolutely NOT the case with Golden Chick. Again, light, tasty, white meat chicken and flakey, light, golden cat fish. Great sides and large drinks. What more can a southern boy ask for? I can't wait to explore their...
