This is a pet friendly, non-smoking hotel. It's $75 for a pet to stay the duration of your visit. Smokers will be fined a $250 non-refundable fee if you smoke in the room . My suite had a "full kitchen" w/a decent size refrigerator (it had collected considerable dust on top) w/ working icemaker, glasstop stove, microwave, & dishwasher. Silverware & eating utensils were provided, including spatulas. I was disapointed that the cookware was not non-stick & the size of the pot I had to work with was not what I needed l(1 lrg pot and one small colander). There was a small table outside the kitchen where l set up my electronic devices & ate my meals. I loved the large windows by the bed. Lucas Oil Stadium seemed close enough to touch. The city lights were so lovely that I left a curtain open to fall asleep to the soft red, pink, blue, and white glow. There was a pull-out sofa bed w/ a chaise lounger attached to it. I had a queen size bed with ample pillows. The bed was decent. I didn't wake up in pain like I have at other hotels. I prefer the bthrms that have the sink, toilet & shower in one room, but after taking care of bathroom doo-ties, one would have to open the btrm door and wash their hands in the sink just outside of the bathroom. The outlets near the sink have motion detection and light up when you reach to plug in a device. This is a nice touch, especially if you are someone who wakes up while it's still dark in the room. The drapes do keep the room dark. There is a hand-held blowdryer, iron, ironing board, and laundry basket, so there are probably washers and dryers on the premises. The room was modern and very clean except for the dust on the top of the fridge. Though the bathroom towels were not the softest, they were bright white. The associates at the front desk were very polite. When I checked in, I was informed about a reception/social that was being held on the ground floor. There was a buffet with soups and salads. I was told that they also had wine and I believe, beer??? I enjoyed not hearing guests' toilets flushing and doors closing in the mornings and evenings. That has been my experience at some hotels that have more stars, unfortunately. When I checked out two days later, l learned that there was a breakfast bar. There was a waffle maker (though I didn't see any batter); there was bacon, eggs, fruit, oatmeal packets, coffee, juice, walnuts, and glazed nuts. My only recommendation to the mgmnt would be to set out a bell for customers to ring because l stopped by the front desk twice to check out and no one came out to assist me. I got the attention of someone in the kitchen, and they had to walk to where the attendant was (in an office just in front of the check-in area) to let them know a customer needed assistance. I gave Staybridge one star for location because it was not fun driving through downtown to get to the hotel; parking was $25/night; there is no parking in the front of the building, so you have to drive around to the back of the bldg to park, walk back to the front to get your room keys then you can walk to the back to get your belongings from your car and let yourself through any of the doors on the ground level. I almost forgot about the pool. Yes, there is one! That's all I know. I saw it, but I did not indulge. Yes, there is also a fitness room. Given the choice, l would have stayed at the other Staybridge in Indy, but l did not realize there were two of them in the city. Despite the beautiful view, the other Staybridge had a bigger suite and FREE parking. I don't think they served continental breakfast or wine, beer, salad, etc, but I usually pack everything l need, so l didn't anticipate free food and would not be disappointed if I woke up to no bagels, etc. Paying for parking was a shock. Plus, l hate driving around downtown! I will definitely take my time to Google the other Staybridge Hotel next time. If you are not swayed by the inconvenience of the downtown traffic and pricey parking, there is no reason not to stay at the Staybridge. It was...
Read moreWe stayed at Staybridge suites for 7 nights. Check in was easy and we were able to check in a couple hours early which was much appreciated. Due to covid there was no housekeeping which we were fine with but when calling to request towels we were instructed to go to the front desk. So every evening we had to visit the front desk for new towels. The breakfast was just ok...we ate it 2 out of 7 days. After that we opted to eat elsewhere as it was redundant with eggs and sausage with toast or bagel. The nightly reception was a joke. There were plastic cups of beer and wine which was fine. A friend tried to pour himself a glass of wine and was yelled at by the women working. She said she had to serve. The snacks the one night we came down was a small box with 2 pieces of salami the size of a half dollar, a baby carrot, 2 small pieces of celery, 2 stale crackers and 4 tiny squares of cheese which tasted spoiled. Parking at hotel was hard to come by. We frequently had to park in the garage that was two lots over. That's fine in the middle of the day but when returning to hotel at 11pm it was creepy walking through garage and back to hotel. There were always people parked in the fire lane next to hotel which was unsettling and was not enforced as there were cars there all the time. After the first few days our AC in our room continued to not cool and it was warm and humid. We contacted the front desk and they promptly sent up maintenance. The maintenance worker changed the filter which looked like it hadn't been changed in a year or more. I had been coughing since our arrival and now I'm wondering if that's why. After replacing the filter the AC still wouldn't cool properly. The front desk offered us a new room. We opted to move but it was a pain because it wasn't on the same floor. The floor we moved to as well as the room had no baseboards and there were holes along the bottom of the wall which made it seem like they'd had a water issue and cut holes to dry out walls. Several times in elevator we could smell pot. There are only 3 washers and 3 dryers which were full all the time. I did try to do some laundry when I saw an empty washer. I separated the clothes and added detergent only to discover the washer didn't work. It wouldn't turn on. Upon removing my clothes I discovered many were wet from old and smelly water. We packed up all our laundry and went to a laundromat which resulted in my husband missing 1/2 of our sons competition that day. The keys never stayed active no matter what. We always kept them away from our cell phones but they would just randomly deactivate resulting in us having to visit front desk to get new ones. On a positive note...the staff was great. With exception of the women working the nightly reception, everyone else was incredibly nice...
Read moreI am an IHG “Platinum Elite” member, and have been loyal to this hotel brand for 11 years. On check-in my status was not acknowledged, as is customary. We stayed for three nights at this hotel. On the third night around 10:30 pm, a COCKROACH crawled next to me on the bed!!!!!! I called and asked that the front desk personnel assist me: they offered to move me to a different room; they inquired whether there was “only one (roach), or a lot of them?” Needless to say, I told them that I wanted to move to another IHG hotel, far across town!
I asked the hotel to please book me a room across town, and asked how I would be compensated? I was told that there was a room across town, but that I would need to book it (and pay for it) myself; any compensation would be through IHG, and I would need to call them. The young man at the desk was kind, but had no reasonable alternative for me, and had (apparently) no authority.
I spent at least 2 1/2 hours on the phone with IHG over 2 days; my calls were dropped at least 5 times, I was transferred “to another specialist” at least 6 times, and I was on hold for literally hours (LOVE that music). I was told that “the most they could offer (in compensation for me changing hotels and PAYING cash for it, being exhausted for lack of sleep, having to fumigate my car and belongings, throw away some packaged food, and being totally grossed out) was a few points (equal to about 1/4 the cost of some rooms)**. With discussion, I was told that the “very most” that they could offer was double the first number of points. After a while, the absolute “most” was about 3 x the first number of offered points, equal to about 1/2 of the price of the room; (we had paid for the room in cash plus points). Few ,if any, of the (lowest quality) IHG rooms in the country that I have seen can be purchased for the offered number of points. No cash compensation (despite the room being paid for partially in cash), or ANY compensation for the new room across town was offered. Needless to say, I’m through with IGH!!
** The exact number of points is not listed here, so as to comply with the terms and conditions required to post this review, as I...
