BLACK PATRONS BEWARE. All i can say is WOW. Yet another black establishment that is filled with promise but lacks the businesses etiquette. This place should be closed should be closed down for there discrimination practices and the bad part it is against their people.
A friend and i arrived at the establishment at 7:30pm and we were told that we would have to pay a $20 cover. This is despite that the flyer listed on their website saying free before 9pm. I proceeded to show the door person (a black women with a long ponytail) the flyer and she proceeds to tell us "that is not out flyer, but i can knock the cover to $10". Im like the flyer is on your company website. Against my better judgment my friend requests to stay. This is when the foolery begins.
Within the next hour 2 white couples are seated at the bar. I have a great view of the front door and it appears that they were not charged a cover. There was another black couple that came on between the white couple and were charged as i saw them pay with their credit cards. Just to make sure, i went up to the black couple and asked if they were charged a cover, they responded yes $20 each despite mentioning the flyer. I went up to both white couples and asked if they were charged a cover, both couples looked at me surprised and both said no. At this point i realized that the door lady (black lady with ponytail) was only charging the minority patriots a cover and NONE of the white couples. The DISCRIMINATION was appalling.
I explained the situation to the waitress who said she was oblivious to the situation. I waited for about 30min and still no manager. The is despite the owner just walking around the bar (the waitress pointed him out to us, a tall black man). I finally was able to get his attention and as i was asking why white customers were not getting charged and black customers were getting charged, the door lady comes over and proceeds to be his mouth piece as he states "she is in charge of the door".
She the proceeds to try and convince me that the only 2 white couple in the establishment are regulars and she requires them to pay at the end of the night. Interesting because when i mentioned having to pay a cover to both couples they appeared surprised. Then when one couple left, they didnt even know where the exit door was....regulars sure...
It is a SHAME tha wre already have to experience DISCRIMINATION and oppression by the majority but to have our on people do it to us is so SAD. This place place should be boycotted, such a shame another black owned business due to its practices will not make it. The owner should be ashamed of himself. BLACK...
Read moreSecond time Iâve been here. First time was cool, they always seem to be short staffed but the bartender took care of us, eventually after she got done talking to her friends.
However, this time was very horrible! Given it was on a Sunday evening with a lot of events (Olympic Trail and Janet concert etc ) going you would think it would be better. Me and the fam walked in. We found a 4 seater table, sit down scanned the menu. Mind you the bartender is right there. She never ever greeted us or said anything. We are sitting there for about 15-20min conversing and the bartender walks past us 3-4xâs to the back area/kitchen, still she never says anything. Another couple comes in and asked something and pull chairs to the bar. Me noticing that we havenât been greeted or served went to ask if there is table service or if there is only bar service. She proceeds to say there is only bar service, which is a lie because it was the same way the last time I was there and the bartender came out to serve us and check on us. It would have been nice, and more understandable if she wouldâve said that as we walked in or came over and said that in the beginning. Instead, we sat there for 20min waiting on a server, and then I had to get up and ask whatâs goin on!
We just left and went to District Tap where proper service was given and we were greeted and treated as patrons. Probably wonât be back and def donât recommend if this is the type of...
Read moreFirst time at this venue was there to celebrate a birthday. We initially came this particular night bc the band Toy Factory had Rhythm and Blues on their event calendar for 8/18 but sadly they did not perform and that was disappointing. The band they did have was excellent however their lead singer OMG!! I will say this, they should have stuck to playing just instrumental. Pro, FOOD: I ordered the Cajun catfish. It was nowhere near Cajun but it was delicious I must say. Everyone else in our party seemed to enjoy their food. It did come out in spurts and our waitress did her best. Cons, floors were sticky, most of our seats were too, the menu is on a tiny card thats now really large enuf to read, It was nasty with all kinds of old food, sticky stuff all over it not to mention the shoe print where someone must have stepped on it at some point. No rolled silverware or napkins. They have to go silverware only but the thin little napkin that comes with thats it. Believe what turned us off the most was the dirty windows inside WOW! The owner needs to take a day and clean their restaurant thoroughly. The dirty glass windows and doors stick out like a sore thumb and why they dont see that is beyond me. Please reconsider your $20 cover bc we were not at all happy to spend $20 ea to come into a restaurant to eat. There is so much more but Im going to stop there. Sometimes we try but sometimes we...
