First-time travelers to Indianapolis with my family for a weekend vacation. If I'm being completely honest, we chose this hotel for the pricing and because I've usually had good experiences at Holiday Inn's. I will say this was the worst experience at this chain I've had to date. First off, the parking is atrocious as it's off a main road in a big city and if you don't know where you're at, you'll have to circle the block a couple times. We go to check in and I find out that we have to pay an extra $25 for parking, mind you this is out of sports season and away from downtown by about a good couple miles. There's a parking garage literally right next door but it's tight.
Next thing my family and I noticed was the cleanliness of this hotel as it was filthy inside and out. There was trash outside, mobile scooters fallen over everywhere, dirty walls. Where we ended up parking, there was someone camped out in a broken down vehicle for our whole stay. Lastly their back pool door had a dead bird laying on the sidewalk for a good couple days. Our room was older, looks like they threw paint on pig type thing.
Next, we check in and on the counter they have a sign that says the spa is out of order until further notice, which they didn't advertise when I made reservations or try to give credit etc. We tested the pool water and it was FREEZING, so much so that my kids and wife didn't swim. We brought this to the hotel management staff and were told they'd contact us, which they never did.
The morning after our first night, we go down to their breakfast and it was terrible. We were told (rudely) we have to pay $19 for my wife and I to eat and the kids were the only ones free, never had this happen before. Breakfast was cold, hard and there were flies around most of it.
There's plenty more I could list, but for first time travelers to a cool city like Indy, we won't be staying here ever again and I wouldn't recommend it to my worst enemy. There's a Holiday Inn Express literally next door to this one, should've checked that one...
Read moreI was pleasantly pleased with the accomodations and staff at this hotel. I did however go to the wrong holiday inn as there are two very close holiday inns in proximity. When I did find the correct place to be I was greeted kindly by Audrey and checked in fast. I filled out information on my vehicle and provided a parking pass. If not it would be $25.00/day. You have th option to park In the lot or the parking garage next door. I was given the run down on the accomodations and the champs restaurant attached. Note the restaurant is not part of the hotel so you can not charge to your room. I really enjoy they had a pool, and a fitness center. The hot tub was out of commission with proper signage at check in and at the hot tub. I stayed in a king room #410. The room was clean and smelled good. I was happy to have a mini fridge and microwave. After a long day of work I was also happy that a restaurant was attached and an option to dine in. The cook Bizz and the bartender Waxx were very accommodating during my stay. It's lonely traveling alone and their kindness went a long way. I was made the best tequila cocktails by a fabulous mixologist (Waxx). I couldn't even tell you all the ingredients but they were very pretty in the cup as well as tasty. Paired well with the wings and the Chicken penne pasta dish from the kitchen (Bizz). Hands down good food, drink, and entertainment. I also enjoy the fitness center. All the machines were working. I used the treadmill and free weights. I also enjoyed the pool. Very cool and refreshing. The morning breakfast was everything you could ask for. Make your own waffles, biscuits and gravy, sausage links, potatoes, scrambled eggs, condiments, cut fresh fruit, yogurt, cereal orange juice, apple juice, milk, water, coffee you name it. They thought of everything anyone would want and need. Even had women's feminine products in the restroom in a basket for free if needed. Seriously.... Couldn't ask for a better place to be while...

To start off when we arrived I had to call the hotel 2 times before anyone showed up to the front desk. She seemed burdened that we were there to check in. During the check in she informed me there is a $25 parking fee ( I questioned that with Diamond level status) she told me I could call the manager and confirm with her. I blew it off at that point. We were told we could park in the garage or behind the hotel.
We park head up the room the hand rails in the elevator are broken, floor is sticky. Get the room smells like air freshener. Floor once again stickey. Pull the bad cover back to check now we are obviously concerned. Noticed the bedding is quite messy and questionable. As I'm doing so I hear my wife from the restroom scream. I round the corner from checking to make sure she is ok there is feceies plugging the toilet and sprayed all over the bowl and bottom and the seat. We grab our things and head down stairs.
Once again no one at the desk. I call 3 times before the woman working the counter come up from the back with her I assume boyfriend both looking rather disshoveled. Neither of them wearing what you normally see IHG staff wearing. Informed her of what happened and told her we will not be staying and the put everything back on my account. She says she doesn't have authority to perform refunds and the manager will have Todo that tomorrow.
Diamond level care call center did everything they could to make this right on the phone call immediately following loading our things into the car and continuing our trip very tired, discusted, and disturbed. The very nice lady at Diamond level service even stated she had to call the property 5 times before someone answered the phone.
I was told by the staff on property and the lady I dealt with at the diamond level call center that I would be receiving a call within 24 hours from the hotel manager. I have yet to...
