This museum was like a hidden gem in the downtown Kansas City, MO area. More than a museum, its also a big basketball playground, with multiple activities. Didn't even know it existed until a local friend brought us during a visit. Such a fun experience, overall; all ages, all cultures, sports fan or not. Even if you don't follow much college basketball (like myself), the basketball activities are plentiful, and guaranteed to keep you entertained as you attempt each challenge over-and-over again; until you complete it successfully, and gain the sense of satisfaction/accomplishment. (Great for teaching kids, perseverance.) But even for older/elderly fans, it's packed with memorabilia/pictures/media from all the best moments in college basketball history. I compare this to a trampoline park; you can expend very little energy enjoying the facts and views of each exhibit, OR you can go all out, taking full advantage of every activity, having so much fun while getting an entire cardio workout without even knowing it. It's all up to you/you're level of engagement. It's your choice. So if you're ever in the area, and you want to make that choice for yourself, go to the College Basketball Experience. Just make sure to give yourself a couple hours, a good amount of energy, and comfortable sneakers. You...
Read moreIt's said good things come in small packages. That's the perfect way to describe the College Basketball Hall of Fame. The Hall of Fame is spread over three floors, but most information/history spans two hallways. There is limited creativity in the presentation, but the information paints an engaging story of college basketball. Remember to catch the video near the National Champion Trophy. A majority of the College Basketball Experience resembles a community center. There are several basketball courts, shooting games, skill tests, vending machines, and other interactive activities. You may need some guidance because the direction signs were difficult to follow, but the elevator maps provide a list of highlights on each floor. The College Basketball Experience hosts several youth events and can be rented for special occasions. On top of that, children under 3 are free, ideal for those large family outings. It's a great place to bring young children and let them roam free and wear...
Read moreLove this place! So fun for any lover of the game. I realize that it’s the men’s collegiate hall of fame, but I do wish they had representation of Women’s College basketball somewhere in the building. Came here with my three sons and daughter. It would be awesome to see this place create a space that would empower and inspire young girls to grow in their game and follow their dreams. Somewhere where they “see” themselves. Even the CBR phtoshot places their face on a male player. Awesome place, but doing more for young female athletes...
