My kids had a blast at the pool. This was our whole reason for going. Everything at the pool area was functioning properly and it felt like a safe and clean facility. The staff throughout the hotel were very nice and helpful. However, there were so many inconveniences at the hotel during our stay. There were lots of pool towels, but you were not allowed to take pool towels to your room. Only one elevator was working, so it took upwards of 10 minutes to get to our room (only on the second floor) each time. Our room was modern and comfortable, but was unclean around the bed frame and my kids found a used children's oral medication syringe there. When I inspected the area around the bed frame, I found a substance that resembled vomit splattered up on the wooden frame. The bathroom was very clean, but it was so small. There was only one rail and one hook to hang towels or swim suits and the door opened up with just enough room to clear the toilet, so it was difficult to help our children bathe. We went to eat supper at the restaurant in the hotel (Fyre) and the waitress let us order the kids meals first so they wouldn't have to wait so long. Their food came within 15 minutes of ordering. However, the adults' meals took over 45 minutes to receive after ordering. So, the kids were done eating and restless while we were trying to snarf down ours.
When I booked our room, I indicated two adults and two children. When we arrived at the hotel, we were only given two breakfast vouchers, so I assumed kids ate free. When we went to breakfast, again at Fyre, after finishing our meals, the waitress said we had to pay for our kids' meals because we only had two vouchers. So my husband had to leave the restaurant and go to the hotel front desk to request more vouchers. After getting the other vouchers, the waitress still presented a ticket for our drinks. She never told us that drinks weren't included when we ordered. Seems like a HUGE miscommunication in training between departments and results in confusion and poor customer service. The value received here was NOT a match to the...
Read moreWe drove up from Omaha to take our 7 year old somewhere other than Great Wolf Lodge and boy were we disappointed. Upon arrival, Sabrina the front desk personnel in charge of checking us in and ensuring our stay was a good one, fell flat with her zero attempt at such. She text me several times throughout our stay with what seemed like generic automated messages that go out to everyone, but it did give me the opportunity to ask about things like breakfast and such that we were never informed about.
The room itself was super small and cramped. The beds hurt our back and we all got the worse sleep imaginable from the combo of that with nonstop screaming kids that run up and down the halls at all hours of the morning & night.
The pool area is okay. Everything in the water has a thick coating of scum on it and the hot tub has a dark ring around it. They decided to back wash the pool while we were in the hot tub sending cold water and sand our way, obviously gross. The bathrooms are covered in soggy wet toilet paper and hair covering the floors and toilets.
As an IHG member, I always get late check out when needed without issue. I asked for late checkout via the app and assumed all was good to go so we went back to the pool for a couple hours. During that time, instead of using my cell phone that they used the entire time to contact me, they used the room phone to attempt to tell me that I couldn’t get late check out, since I wasn’t there…I had no idea. When I went back to change out of my suit….a man WITHOUT KNOCKING walked right into my room!!!
I furiously called the front desk and they told me that “it is 11:55 and check out was at 11 so we needed to get out of the room right away!!!” Nothing about anything else was addressed and the girl was SO rude! Everyone I encountered at this hotel was beyond rude. I was told that she “will let her manager know”. That was it. I’ve yet to be contacted about anything.
For nearly $300/night I’d rather stay at the Westin or many other places.
I would not recommend this place to anyone but if you do choose to do so, LOCK...
Read moreSo here we have the Crowne Plaza in Kearney, Nebraska. This hotel is an unexpected treat, given that Crowne Plaza is usually a brand found in larger urban cities than rural America. Located right off of I-80.
This property boasts 172 rooms, a nice restaurant, Fyre Modern Grill, a boutique, a licensed Starbucks, an arcade, meeting rooms, and a waterpark! And believe me, this place was HOPPING.
I didn’t realize that it would have all of this…especially the waterpark…when we checked in. We were in Kearney, because we were going to meet up with friends in Grand Island to go see a few attractions in the area. There were several families here for their family reunions. Most of the hotels in Kearney were sold out upon research. I am glad I was able to book a few days prior!
The room was spacious and emaculate, and the hotel itself had that brand new vibe, as it’s only a year or two old.
The restaurant, Fyre Modern Grill, had a delicious prime rib and crab leg buffet ($55 per person, but oh so worth it!), and the ambience was perfect.
We hit up the waterpark toward the end of the evening, and despite it being filled with kids, it was still spacious enough to move around, and the water slides were amazing! It was nice to see other guys my age (I’m 39) playing, too! Just beware that the kids who don’t dry off 100% will leave water residue in the elevators and corridor leading up to it, so please be mindful on a busy evening.
I recommend this property 100%, and hope you enjoy the photos! I would like to thank the entire staff there who take care of the property! I realize that on the other side of the fence, that by the end of your shift, that you’re so over it, and are tired of the screaming children and the needy guests, and I COMPLETELY understand it, so I just wanted to give my thanks and appreciation for all that you...
