What a sad experience! I should think Motel 6 would want to have some minimal standard for it's facilities. This one certainly would not meet any reasonable standard. When we arrived the attendant was eating. She gave us her attention immediately but simply wiped her hands and came over to an already greasy countertop at reception and asked for my Driver's License, which came back to me after being in her greasy hands and then placed on the greasy countertop. All was fine then until we got to our room where a loud noise was broadcast from the HVAC unit; and the room clearly had no air conditioning. I called the front office to see if this noise was typical. I was told it was not. The attendant said she would call her Manager and then call me back. We sat waiting. When she did not call back we returned to the front desk. The attendant then shared what her Manager had said - Motel 6 could refund us $25.00 for our inconvenience. I explained that a room with a loud screaming sound and without air conditioning was not acceptable; that I would expect that they would relocate us to a room we could use. She said they were full. I reiterated that we had made this reservation weeks before; that I doubted they assigned a specific room to each person as they call in to make a reservation; that we were there and those who had not yet arrived could be offered that room if she had someone from facilities come fix the problem. Why they were booked but had not inspected the rooms to see if they were useable is beyond me. She said she'd have to call the manager. We were then told they could refund our money. I explained that I had not made the reservation weeks in advance so that I'd have to go looking for a place and pay a premium price. That if Motel 6 wanted to pay the difference between what I had reserved and what a room would call me elsewhere, that would be fine. She then asked if I wanted to speak to the Manager. I did. She thought we'd been in the room already and I explained we'd simply walked in to find the problems and then called the front desk and waited. She then spoke with the attendant and asked she move us to another room. That room was fine but for the fact that it was immediately next to the lobby. The attendant chose to vacuum at 10:15 pm. The elevator, ice machine, and microwave were next to our room. Not a good design for whomever stays in that room. So, I don't remember having of a worse...
Read moreI reserved a room at motel 6 as I usually do every week because I’m a travel RN. I went to check in and they said I was put the “do not rent list.” I have always been polite and kept to myself. The reason was housekeeping refused to clean my room after I had requested no housekeeping during my stay because I work nights. I had to call the front desk twice because the first front desk attendant didn’t pass it on. Both employees sounded bugged by the request. Motel 6 does not provide do not disturb signs so that’s why I had to request no housekeeping . This has never been an issue anywhere else. I always pick up and bag trash and my room is never left damaged or with trash everywhere. I could understand if I had been disruptive but I was there to sleep so besides check in in really wouldn’t see any other employees. I was offended and hurt because I thought I found my travel home. The fact that management put me on a do not rent list because housekeeping said they’d refuse to clean a room that refuses housekeeping tells me that the Motel 6 in Kearney has poor management. I stayed there every week for multiple weeks and this is what gets me black listed? Because housekeeping refuses to do their job so management puts me on the do not rent list- no call no nothing. And I guarantee if I had asked for a picture of the room that that they didn’t want to clean- they’re wouldn’t be one because I pick up after myself. So thank you spineless management for allowing housekeeping to...
Read moreGave it a 3 because compared to other hotels we have stayed at on our frequent trips to see my grandkids, it was very clean. Even compared to other Motel 6's.
Was pleasantly surprised.
We called before coming and asked if the rooms had a fridge, and pool said yes to the fridge, no to the pool.
When we checked in and got to our room, there wasnt one. The room was very clean and beautifully cool.
I went to ask if we had to pay extra for one or ask for it when we checked in, like some hotels. She said no, but she could move us one room over that had one. I said sure.
She asked if we touched anything and I said no, except that we sat at the end of the bed and turned the TV on. She said ok she would have to clean it otherwise.
We gathered our stuff and went in next door, it was still very clean, but horribly hot. We set the thermostat all the way down hoping it would cool off.
A few hours later it was still very hot. I asked and she said they don't keep the air on in all the rooms like other hotels.
We think we irritated them by asking about the fridge and moving so they shut the air off in our room and basically said, indirectly, they shut our air off.
We will never give Motel 6 our business again for being that petty. We would have happily stayed in the cool room and used ice to keep our waters...
