I found my new home away from home. I absolutely love Key West and this hotel. It is such a casual, live/let live atmosphere. The hotel was a great choice because it was close to everything. Food, bars, shopping yet not in the heart of it all. Special thanks to the entire staff because everyone provided us with such great service and recommendations every day. Now the run down.|Staff|This team deserves every bit of praise sent their way. From the information they provide, to the recommendations to the housekeeping service, to the genuine quality of conversation and service. |Rooms|I had a nice room, with a private balcony overlooking the pool and bar (Room 26) I was traveling with friends, and all our rooms were different. They all agreed that everything was so clean, which was such a high point. |Bar|Great options at the bar and awesome pricing. Frozen drinks, martinis etc. Not top shelf liquors but still great call brands. Nothing too cheap. The bar did close a bit early for my taste, but there are PLENTY of bars on the island to keep you busy. Funny note, they have a slide show in the lobby with Key West facts and one of them is that Key West has the most bartenders per capita than any other city lol. |Pools|They have two pools and a hot tub, but it was too sunny and hot during my stay to try the hot tub, but both the pools were very comfortable. Never overcrowded. They do close early though. |Location|Can’t be beat. Smack in the middle of old town key west, but still in a quiet neighborhood. Walking distance to everything. Furthest walk was like 20 min if your going to the far end of Duval St. Most everything was 10-15 min walk. About 2 days in we decided to rent bicycles which is a great way to zip around town and cuts travel time down to 5 min for most places.|The Natives|I did have one morning where we woke up to some bug wings in our sink. I’ll be honest, they told me it was a common thing down here, but I didn’t believe them. They did immediately have housekeeping come clean it up though. However, However to their credit…I did mention it to someone I was chatting with at a bar when we were talking about where we were staying and they said their hotel had the same thing. The bartender heard us and said it was termite swarms that happen on island and he had them all over his shower that morning and that it was an “Island Thing”. He said they call them “bad weather flies” because they swarm all over usually when its about to rain especially in wood buildings. Lol. Ya learn something new. |Regardless, Key West itself is a vibe and staying at this guest house was the best choice ever. Highly recommend it and will definitely be back for another stay. Hopefully sooner...

Read moreMy first trip to Key West was an absolute blast, and choosing The Bishop for our stay was the best decision we could have made! We were traveling as a group of friends and each had our own room (4 total), and this being our first time there, we needed a place that was convenient in location and this property delivered on all fronts. I was a bit unsure about where to stay in Key West since it was my first time, but The Bishop turned out to be perfectly situated. The location truly is unbeatable. It’s in a quiet area, yet as the staff aptly put it, just 3 blocks to crazy (Duval Street). If you prefer a more relaxed vibe, 3 blocks in another direction is the seaport which still offers shopping, bars and restaurants, but much more chill and laid back with a more local feel. We found everything we needed within a three-block radius: a grocery store, convenience store, laundry, numerous restaurants, a Cuban coffee shop with breakfast sandwiches. It was truly a Goldilocks zone where everything was easily walkable, so we never needed a car. Plus, all the boat trips and excursions we booked departed right from the nearby seaport.
Things To Know - Keep in mind it is a guest house, not a sprawling hotel, so dont expect amenities like restaurant or laundry service. That said, everything you could possibly need, including late night cravings, is just a short walk away, and there is door dash on island which delivers all night. If you re planning a boat trip, remember to bring lotion sunscreen, not spray! They dont allow sprays on boats because they make the decks slippery. I learned that the hard way. Renting bicycles is the way to go for getting around. There is a rental shop just around the corner, and you can get pretty much anywhere in 10 minutes or less on a bike. Pros Location- near everything Staff- the team at The Bishop are incredibly nice and helpful. They are a wealth of information and recommendations. We even saw their amazing maintenance guy in action when my friend AC unit had issues—he had the old one out and a new one in within 20 minutes! Cleanliness - The housekeepers here are on point! Our rooms were spotless and sparkling clean every day.
A couple minor things Pool Hours - The pools close at 8 PM, which was a bit of a bummer. However, the staff explained it due to health department regulations, so its out of their control. No Full-Length Mirrors - A small detail, but full-length mirrors in the rooms would be a nice addition! I had in my room, but one of the other rooms my friend was staying in didn’t and girls need to see the full set before walking out the door. All in all this is THE perfect guest house, and we will...
