PLEASE DO NOT EVER STAY HERE!!!! WARNING!!!!! My husband & I were supposed to stay here for our 10th anniversary. We have 6 kids so it is very difficult for us to arrange care for our children to go on any vacations alone. So after many months of arranging we were set to be in paradise for 5 days, with no children. From the reviews & pictures we saw we expected to have the most amazing time staying at Heron House Court. Much to our dismay & extreme disappointment we only stayed 1 night & that was under the understanding we would get a refund for our stay. Let me paint you a picture of our experience. After leaving Miami & having an amazing drive through the Keys, we pull up to Heron House Court. It was charming from the outside. That all stopped the moment we walked in to the front desk. After asking about amenities, the very rude woman who checked us in told us that our room was right next there & pointed. Well, that room happen to be right next to the front desk, under that stairs that go to the rooms upstairs & right next to where breakfast was being served every morning. I looked at her & said, wait a minute all the rooms are supposed to be facing the pool per your pictures & description. She said all but this one does & this is all we have left today. I told her I was not happy with this room & that is there any way we could be moved to another room. She said "honey, you're probably tired from your long trip, take a look around & you will love it here". Ok, so first she is telling me I'm just tired & that I just need to chill out basically. Let's just say that didn't go over well at all. We did look around & realized that all the advertising was false. 1 room opened to the pool, all the rest were open to courtyards. Which would have been better than where we were. So, I asked if we could move to another room the next day before other guests got there. I was told absolutely not, that the place was booked up already. I said yes, but they haven't checked in yet, why can't we move in the morning. She said that was not possible. I asked to speak to the manager, that was met with attitude, moaning, talking under her breath & then finally when I pushed. A call was made. While we are sitting no more than 10 feet from her she starts to speak with the manager. The language she used & the content of her conversation with him was to say the least rude! After listening to her talk about us to him, we were done. When I finally get on the phone, I told him all that happened. He convinced us to stay the night & speak with him in the morning. While during our short stay here we experienced people walking by our room so we had to shut the blinds (giving no light to the room), constant walking up & down the stairs, hearing every word said at the front desk & every word & sound of the breakfast that was being served on the other side of our door. We knew if we could hear them speak, they could hear us speak & anything else we would be doing in our own private room on vacation. Due to the way we were treated when we arrived, the noise, the lack of privacy & so much more I could go on about...we were done! When we spoke with the manager finally that morning, we were expecting the refund he & the woman from the night before promised us, but again, that was not the case. He proceeded to get very condescending & rude. He said he could move us now, but he was not giving us the refund he promised. As you would imagine, that was not received well. He had lied to us the night before & now went back on what he promised. When we expressed our issues with the front desk lady, his exact words were "How mean could an old Cuban woman really be". I said very politely, you have cameras, maybe you should check that out & see if you can find that answer there seeing how everything is recorded here in the lobby. So, we have lost $1,000 on a room & can't get my money back! WARNING!!! PLEASE DO NOT...
Read moreThis was our first stay at the Heron House Court after many trips to Key West and we will certainly be back! I read all the reviews before we booked and there were many many comments about "Roman" the concierge. Well now I understand why! Roman was the greatest. He recommended so many places for us to go and even got us booked very last minute on a wine and cheese sunset cruise at a discounted price. Thank goodness he did because it was the PERFECT cruise that I just happened to get engaged on! Roman was so personable, inquisitive about our lives, and was one of best memories from our trip! He laid out fresh pastries from Old Town bakery down the road everyday and INSISTED we stay for a "sweet bite" every time--it was just too cute. The rest of the staff was great as well when Roman was not there!
Our room was very reasonably priced for the season we were in and located right off the port where the Key West Express comes in (which we took). It was a GREAT location! A 15 minute walk to the bars on Duval, but a very enjoyable walk in good weather! If we were in a rush to get somewhere, we took a taxi, but most of the time we wanted to walk.
Beware, however, this is not a party house. It is very quaint and perfect if you are looking for a quiet Inn to rest your heads and be respectful of others. This is not the place to go if you want to be loud and obnoxious. The pool and jacuzzi are smaller, but we were able to enjoy some drinks out by the jacuzzi one night which was very pleasant and we didn't seem to bother anyone. The place was really perfect for what we were looking for. Room was very clean, nice bed and nice bathroom, but we only used it for sleeping or changing our clothes; we were out and about most of the time.
It was truly just perfect for our romantic weekend in the Keys with very comfortable rooms and extremely MEMORABLE staff! Loved this place and...
