First, it's not "Navy Exchange Lodge" it's "Navy Gateway Inns & Suites", known in Key West as the Fly Navy building. Note: You must be U.S. Military Active Duty, Reserve or Retired to use this facility. Active duty or Reserves on orders have priority. They are building an annex in the back but they didn't say when it would be open. Pros: Great location, nice rooms, great staff. Cons: Dining room is closed, bar is closed, mini-mart is closed on weekends, Friday Truck is closed on weekends. Recommendation: Re-open the bar (with food choices like burgers, fish and chips and salads) so it operates (at least) FRI, SAT & SUN.

This has got to be the oldest hotel in the Navy !! If you want to be apart of history sleep here. At first I was super angry for being put in this hotel but I realized that there is a bed and I have running water. People have less accommodations while on travel. The hotel is being well kept with what the staff has, but it's time for a remodel. Staff knows and are apologetic about the place but they are limited. I will say it's conveniently located to food and bars.

MWR Key West Vacation Rentals as of November 2024||Recently I was able to rent a 3 bedroom 1 ½ bath townhouse for four days on Naval Air Station – Trumbo Pt. Key West Fl. It is a remarkable deal for only $167 / night. No fees...no taxes. Here are the answers to some key questions I had before making this happen:|1. Veterans with a service connected disability are eligible. You must have a VA picture ID card with a bar code along the bottom and the words “SERVICE CONNECTED” under your picture.|2. A qualified Veteran may make a reservation up to six months in advance...space available.|3. Base access is an independent exercise. You must go to NAS Boco Chica Field to get the necessary pass. The office closes at 4PM and the process takes a good hour. You cannot get to your rental or anywhere on any of the base annexes without this pass. You need your VA ID. If you have guests (related or not) you will be the sponsor and they will need their driver licenses and social security number and fill out a form. The Pass office is just before the gate sentry.|4. If you are arriving after 4 PM. You must go to the Trumbo Pt. gate and explain to the sentry that you need to have your documents verified and a temporary overnight pass issued. We had to do this. It took an hour. You will have to have all of the documents mentioned above plus you rental agreement. They will give you a form to fill out.|5. With your permanent pass or your temporary pass you can go to the MWR Office at Trumbo Pt. to check in and get your rental keys. It is to the left of the entrance gate. They are open until 8 pm and have procedures if you arrive later than that.|6. If you late arrived and got the temporary pass at the Trumbo gate you will need to go to the NAS Boco Chica Pass Office the next day and do it all again. They will process your security clearance and take your picture and give you a pass certificate that is good for one year.|7. There are multiple annexes at NAS Key West:|1. Boco Chica - Pass Office, F18 location, Fly Away Cafe at Navigators Marina (good breakfast) Navy Police sentry. START HERE!|2. Trumpo Pt – MWR rentals, Coast Guard Base on far end, location of our 3 bedroom Townhouse, Navy Police sentry|3. Sigsbee Annex – Exchange, Commissary, Hideaway Grill at Sunset Lounge (good food and view) No active gatehouse at this location. All these facilities are available.|4. Truman Annex – Beach, Contract Security at gate. In the heart of down town. Some...

Not a lot of information regarding staying here, but I’ll post what I can in hopes it helps. We originally booked (only 30 days out) because that’s just how it is with the military posts… however, here we are, in Mid January and this place is not full at all. We just assumed it would be packed, it was not. When we first got to Key West, we went to one post where we were told to “check in”, they the clerk “pinned” on our phone where to go to find our hotel. It’s strange that no one had an address we could use, just a place to “pin”. The post you’ll stay at if your at Key West NAS is actually right by Truman Annex neighborhood and just put the Key West aquarium into your gps and it will take you right there. The location is about 2 blocks to Duval street. We did not even need a bicycle to get around. It was a nice walk. The lodging where we were are all one queen bed in each room. The rooms all have a very small kitchen (microwave, Kurig, and small refrigerator) is all you will have. In one of the buildings, there is a very small “shop” where you can get basics like sandwiches, drinks, snacks, breakfast burritos and such. Also laundry detergent.. Each building has free laundry available, so pack less clothing, just twice the money as Key West food is very expensive. The private beach has a lot of small rocks so if you bring either water shoes or rubber sandals, that would help. The bay there is perfect if you have something to float around on our would want to go for a swim. Not much for waves there so pretty mild. We could not rent chairs there due to Covid, but it would be worth it to go buy cheap chairs and leave them there and enjoy that beach. Back to the rooms… the showers are walk in, no pressure, but it got the job done. The a/c was limited to a low of about 73/74. However, there are oscillating fans in the closet that was a life saver for us. Kept us plenty cool. This was a very safe and quiet place to stay. I would not hesitate to go back. Book last minute and...
