We stayed on a Mon and Tue night in late Dec 2024. We used this location to stage for the Yankee Freedom Ferry to Dry Tortugas National Park.
The resort was super decorated for the holiday season. Think like Christmas barfed on it, but in a good way. The decor in the entire resort was nice. There were comfy chairs everywhere and it felt so welcoming. The chairs outside our door were a favorite to sit and watch the sunset and you can people watch down to the street level from the upper wrap around balconies on the front of the resort. They had a giant outdoor bird cage but they were always asleep when we passed by. There are bikes for rent. We always just walked to Duval Street (20 mins). There are some darker blocks which may be unsettling for some but we stick to well lit ones and in groups.
We stayed in the attic suite #220. We knew what we were getting into staying here but we needed the extra space for a 5th person. The attic suite is accessed on the 2nd floor of the resort but this is just the kitchen area. The beds/bathroom is located on the 3rd floor and it's all stairs at this resort (no elevator). So keep that in mind before booking.
The kitchen was well stocked with pots, pans and utensils and had a full size fridge. There were 2 electric cook tops. There is a bench picnic table seating tucked partway underneath the stairs. Tons of lights everywhere which made the suite look bigger and than it was. There is a ceiling fan for the kitchen area as the only heating/cooling is located upstairs. It was warm when we arrived in the attic but it was great after we got the AC units turned on. Not sure how well they would work mid-summer. There are also outlets EVERYWHERE! This is always appreciated. There are 2 TVs, one on each end of the very long attic suite. Water pressure was just okay and we seemed to have enough hot water for all of us. Linens are in drawers, not enough places to hang towels and shampoos and soaps provided.
There is plenty of floor space tucked into the corner for bags etc. We knew this was a attic suite and that the ceilings were low. Everyone still hit their heads multiple times. Our tallest person is 5'10" and shortest about 4'.
The pool is salt water and not heated. it was chilly but my youngest wanted to swim so I went with him and it was freezing. Air temp was in the 60s at night. No idea what water temp was. At least we had the whole pool to ourselves.
There is a water filling station on the pool deck with purified water and large tea selection! Around the corner from the bar was the ice machine. I felt bad for whoever had this room as it was right outside their door and I can imagine it being very loud. Also I never saw anyone order drinks from the bar which I felt bad for the bar tender as he was always there.
Parking is LIMITED! I knew this going in and was prepared to hunt for a parking spot. When we arrived Monday evening after visiting Fort Zachary Taylor until sunset, we made the first pass on White street and EVERY street parking spot was taken, very disheartening. We drove around back just to check as there are 4 regular spots and 1 handicapped. Miraculously there was 1 spot! We squeeze our larger minivan into the spot (the other cars weren't parked great to begin with). When we checked in and told the staff we found a spot out back, she gawked and said, "Never leave that spot!". She said from that point on we should walk or bike everywhere and we did. We saw other guests walking down the street with their luggage etc. and felt bad. We were super lucky. I think out front there are only like 6ish public street spots.
Breakfast was good. We missed it one day because we had to get up early to check-in at the Yankee Freedom Ferry for Dry Tortugas National Park. They had breads to toast and bagels with cream cheese, fresh fruit, yogurts and sausage links. Juices you ordered at bar but they were included (no extra cost).
We would 100% stay again. Everything about this place was just amazing. It did come with a hefty price tag of about $500/night. But that's Key...
Read moreIn general, I was satisfied with my 2-night stay at the hotel. I visited it during Thanksgiving. The hotel is recently remodeled, and its design is nice and charming, featuring bright, fun paint colors. The hotel consists of several buildings with a nice swimming pool area. There is also a small parking lot at the back, which is free of charge, though finding a spot can be challenging.|My check-in was fast and easy, but I have to say that the front desk staff I interacted with during my stay weren’t very friendly. On the positive side, I called the hotel a day before my arrival to request a room on a high floor, and they honored my request. I was assigned a Standard Room with a Queen Bed on the second floor, which I appreciated. However, the hotel has a few strict and silly rules/fees, such as a Noise Complaint Fee of $75 per complaint and an insane Non-Registered Pet Fee of $150. Additionally, the hotel charges around $30 (if I remember correctly) for renting a bike, but the bikes are old, heavy, and poorly maintained, with many having low air in the tires. These bikes should either cost a small amount or, ideally, be free for guests.|My Standard Room was tiny, but I liked its cute design and felt fairly comfortable. All the furniture was in good condition. The biggest downside was the lack of privacy and weak soundproofing, even though the room was on the second floor. My windows faced the pool area, which was busy during the morning and daytime, with loud kids adding to the noise, even with the windows closed. I also had to keep the curtains drawn, as people at the pool and those walking past the second-floor hallway (one window was right across the stairwell) could clearly see into my room. This made the room darker and less inviting, as it blocked natural daylight. Having a lamp-fan was a big plus, as I hated the small air conditioner, which was located across the bed under the window and blew super cold air directly at me. I only used the fan during my stay. The Queen bed was very comfortable. Another downside was the very small closet, especially the limited hanging space; moreover, there were only a few hangers for clothes. Unfortunately, the bathroom was tiny and uncomfortable. The shower stall felt tight, and the toilet was unpleasantly low, and there was no toilet brush provided. The bathroom amenities were of poor quality and didn’t smell nice. The hotel’s Wi-Fi worked well.|The hotel’s location isn’t exactly in the center of Key West, but the distance is walkable. It took me about 13 minutes to reach the main street in the heart of town or the waterfront. The best way to explore the town is definitely by bike, but, as I mentioned, the hotel’s bikes are not great.|For my stay, I paid $167 per night (including taxes and fees), and honestly, I found this rate slightly overpriced for the tiny room I got. I believe a fair price for my room type would be around $100 per night.|Anyway, I can definitely recommend this hotel for a short stay in Key West. It perfectly mirrors the Key West vibes and adds a bit of charm to your vacation, thanks to its...
