My overall experience was one of the worst in my 51 years on Earth. But the bed was very comfy and I like the hardwood floors, which were clean. The Motel had a severe shortage of towels, which I simply cannot understand. We had to beg for towels and were told several times that none were available, and to come back in the morning. Then we were told to come back in 30 minutes. Then in a few hours. When they did bring us towels, they brought 1 towel and 1 wash cloth which felt like sand paper. The wash cloths that were in the room upon check in were very dingy and rusty looking. The white wash cloths had brown rust around the edges and were very dirty looking as if they had been sitting there since Motel 6 was built.
The walls needed painting, The bed spread was dirty, the bathroom door didn't close all the way, the chair in the room was lopsided and leaned to the right. It felt like it was going to fall or break. We didn't feel safe sitting in the chair. It wasn't sturdy at all. There was not enough storage or drawer space. We only had shelves. The light by the mirror (outside of the bathroom) stopped working. It didn't go completely out, but it became very dim and worthless.
When I checked out, I asked the guy if he was the manager and he said no and I expressed my feelings regarding the towel situation. He apologized and said that they were trying their best. I asked for the manager and he gave me the manager's card but said that the manager has no control either and that it is the owners who controls the towel count.
We paid $250 for a two-night stay at Motel 6. I do understand that it was Purdue's homecoming weekend and all of the lodging rates are inflated. For the money that we paid to stay there, it was NOT worth it and the only thing that put a damper on my entire trip.
Note to Motel 6 Owners: You must do better to accommodate your customers. This experience was one of the worst and nothing was done to compensate for our inconvenience, with the exception of an apology. I think we should have gotten a refund, reduced rate or offered a free night or something to show your regret but nothing was done to make up for this terrible experience.
I will try my best not to EVER stay at another Motel 6, especially the one in...
Read moreUsed to stay at Motel 6s around the country regularly and never had terrible service (but haven't really stayed at a Motel 6 for over a decade now, tend to stay a places with a few more frills now) so I wasn't too concerned when the only room available in Lafayete area was at Motel 6.
I made the reservation about a month before on Motel 6 dot com and received a confirmation email, and nothing else after that. Drive 900 miles from NW Minnesota to Lafayette, IN for Purdue move in, assuming we'd have a room waiting for us when we got there. When we got there they couldn't find out reservation, they were stumbling with the interface of the tablet they have for check-in. They finally found it and said it was cancelled a day before, and said there was nothing they could do as they had no rooms and it was my problem, not theirs (the attitude the two ladies gave the whole time) when I asked if they could check other area hotels for availability - I searching my email box and texts and verified no cancellations messages were received ... I get Motel 6 reservations on the speakerphone in front of the front desk clerks who obviously didn't want to help anyone and had it escalated to supervisor, Perry (iirc), who verified the reservation was still valid, upon further investigation, found out some the day before had cancelled the reservation and immediately rebooked it (my guess it was the clueless front desk personnel at the property). The ladies at the front desk continued to give me the "not our problem" look, the reservation manager on the phone said the best he could do is get us in a room 40 miles away (we've already driven 900 miles), but was not able to discount the rate or offer any compensation for the trouble, so I didn't not take it, at least he apologized which is more than the people at the property could do...We ended up just booking a Wyndahm property about 40 miles away (adding another 80 miles to our travels) and they were pleasant to deal through the whole process with after Motel 6 gave me the absolute worst experience with a hotel in my 48 years, especially after a long drive, assuming they would honor a reservation...I will never again book at stay at any Motel 6 property for the rest of my life after...
Read moreIf I could do zero stars definitely would….. Rudest employees EVER, said I was aloud my dogs but they weren’t aloud to be on the bed, chair, or anything. They also threatened to kick us out MULTIPLE TIMES for having friends over from 4pm-8pm and we wasn’t even loud we literally just walked into the motel room when the front desk called up and told us to leave there premises or they were calling the cops because this isn’t “a guest motel” It was just me my boyfriend and brother staying and they kept telling me I was hiding additional people in the room even after they came to check multiple times, they also said other guest were complaining we were partying and breaking beer bottles when none of us are even old enough to drink and it was from the people in the hotel next door. They also refused to give me my deposit back bcuz i was “banned” from there property even though corporate management said my deposit had to do with the room being clean and it was cleaner when I left then when I arrived. Also on the phone I was told $58 a night and then when I arrived she ended up charging me $220 for 2 nights, we ended up only staying one bcuz she was going to call the cops and they refused to refund me even after my grandma called with proof it wasn’t us doing the stuff they said we were doing. I’ve never been to a motel/hotel that was so bad and rude especially for the price I paid for it. The employee was also so rude TWO DIFFERENT LADIES called up to our rooms to tell us to make everyone else leave so we did even thought i’ve never been to a motel where you can’t have guest over. Mind you everyone around us had people over or were outside grilling in big groups. When I went to turn in the key the employee cussed me out and said I was banned from her property (she doesn’t even own it she’s not even a manager) the other lady refused to give me towels until I could prove no one else was in our room. She had a grudge against me before I even walked in because her and my dad went to high school together, very unprofessional that she couldn’t separate her feelings and be professional. If I was to talk/treated a customer the way those employees treated us I would be fired from my job immediately. Now I see why all there...
