Disappointing and NOT worth the distance to the strip...
Being my first experience with the VIRGIN brand, I was certainly expecting something more fashionable, more flamboyant, more unique; specially when it comes to Las Vegas!!! Unfortunately, and probably because of such heightened expectations, the contrast was stark and just found a dispirited, deflated, average resort, and for Vegas standards, maybe even underperforming: Worn out, stingy carpets; a lifeless casino; an uninviting dining/drinking scene –not even the Nobu made us hesitate about going to the strip for dinner every single night; no Starbucks, which I’m not fan of, but a resort this size in Las Vegas with no Starbucks is a ”something”; unappealing shows and entertainment; and to top it all, near zero gold/diamond tier Hilton Honors recognition...
Service is courteous and friendly at the front desk and across the property, but fun fact, I found maintenance, housekeeping, and gardening staffers more knowledgeable and willing to assist than higher-rank staffers; these guys took me through the most wheelchair friendly route, knew whether the pool or the shop or whatever would be open or about to close, and always pointed me in the right direction to wherever I was headed… something no suited staff did or knew.
Moving on to the rooms, on the one hand, although they do not feel 21st century Vegas, they are spacious, comfortable, and well lit; the whitish palette helps in this regard and it is highly appreciated that Hilton’s lousy beige palette did not permeate to this property. On the other hand, it is discouraging that Virgin Hotel Las Vegas is one of those properties that believe mobility accessible rooms deserve the most unappealing views they have to offer (still at $250 USD/night) whilst being the farthest from the elevator. By the way, always go for a strip view when staying in this property or you’ll wind up with some of the worst Vegas views a resort this magnitude has to offer. All in all, rooms are decent but lack some standard perks widely available in other brands across the strip, for starters, no coffee machine, no remote-controlled shades nor room service beyond breakfast, and a far-from-lavish bathroom.
A couple more quick highlights for wrapping up…
Virgin Las Vegas offers free parking and valet, with a courteous, friendly, and efficient service.
Mind the location. If your plans revolve around the strip, take commute times and costs into account… do not underestimate the heat and the distances if trying to walk… also regarding location, hardly anything to do or where to eat nearby –from a touristy point of view.
I stayed at Virgin Las Vegas because it was the only Hilton property available during my stay, but I’m not quite sure I’d stay here –or recommend staying here, should I have not been a Hilton Honors member. Price per night is not what you would call cheap and you definitely need to take transportation costs into consideration. Putting all numbers together, I could have stayed at the strip with no need for taxis/Uber nor renting a car, and would have...
Read moreI had high hopes for our weekend stay at Virgin Hotels Las Vegas. As a longtime guest of the former Hard Rock Hotel, I was genuinely excited to return and fall in love with this reimagined property. Sadly, the experience fell short on many levels—especially around hospitality, food quality, and overall upkeep.
We spent several days at the pool—one in a cabana and the others in regular seating. The cabana experience started with frustration: we had a 9:00 AM reservation and I was fourth in line by 8:45, yet wasn’t checked in or escorted until 9:30. Only one employee was handling check-in, payments, and escorting guests, which clearly created delays and frustration for everyone waiting.
Once in the cabana, service was lackluster. Our server held our credit card all day (which is unusual—most places run it and return it), and her check-ins were inconsistent. Orders were wrong, two food items never arrived, and we had to push to get the charges removed. The most baffling part? We were charged for two cups of ice, and told it was because we asked for “too much water”—in 100+ degree heat, at a pool. That’s not just absurd—it’s borderline unsafe. If hydration is an issue, the property should provide water stations, especially for guests paying for premium experiences.
Our cabana fridge and mister also didn’t work, and we had to be moved halfway through the day.
On the other days we spent at the pool, the atmosphere still left much to be desired. While the bartenders were kind and trying their best, trash was blowing around constantly—even into the pool. It gave the entire space a neglected, unkempt feel.
Dining throughout the property was another letdown. There just aren’t many options anymore, and several places closed early. The food quality across the board was disappointing, and the menus feel as dated as the property itself. What once had a vibrant, trendy energy now feels like a discount property—without the lower prices.
Service overall was hit and miss. Some team members were friendly and helpful, others seemed disengaged. It just didn’t feel cohesive or welcoming.
One bright spot: we loved our room. It was clean, well-designed, and comfortable—definitely one of the highlights of our stay.
Finally, when I posted a review on Yelp, I received a response from someone named Jackie A., but it felt generic and canned—like a template reply rather than a thoughtful response to real concerns. That kind of interaction just reinforces the feeling that guest feedback isn’t being taken seriously.
This used to be one of the coolest properties in Vegas. Now, unfortunately, it feels like it’s lost its identity. There’s still potential here, but it’s going to take a major reset in hospitality, cleanliness, and overall guest experience to get back to what...
Read moreExtremely Disappointing Stay – Unpleasant Staff, Misleading Promises, and Poor Experience Overall
I recently stayed at the Virgin Curio Hotel by Hilton and unfortunately, it was one of the most disappointing hotel experiences I’ve had.
From the moment we arrived, the reception staff were cold, unwelcoming, and outright disrespectful—both at check-in and again during check-out. At check-in, we were clearly informed that we had a $79 food and drink credit included with our reservation. However, at check-out, we were rudely told that it only applied to drinks—and even then, it "did not apply" for unexplained reasons. The attitude from the reception staff was unacceptable and dismissive, especially when simply requesting a copy of the invoice.
To add to the frustration, everything in the hotel is excessively overpriced. A half-liter bottle of water was $10—absolutely outrageous. Breakfast was another disappointment: cold, bland, and far from the quality expected from a hotel of this supposed standard.
But the worst part came on our final night, when we decided to dine at the Kassi Italian Beach House restaurant inside the hotel. Not only was the service slow and disorganized, but after our meal, we ended up with food poisoning, ruining the end of our trip completely.
What was promoted as a relaxing and upscale experience turned out to be anything but. Poor customer service, false promises, overpriced basics, low-quality food, and health risks—this hotel delivered it all in the worst ways.
I strongly advise future travelers to avoid this hotel. Save yourself the disappointment, frustration, and potential...
