Summary:
This property provides a true Las Vegas vacation experience even though it’s slightly off strip. At first I thought that could be an inconvenience but now I feel that it’s a benefit. The Ruby Tower is peaceful and nice. It’s a short uber drive to anywhere you would like to go and literally right next to the airport. And all of the amenities on site combined with the excellent staff makes this place stand out amongst their competition.
Thumbs Up Or Down: Thumbs Up
Key People:
LaLa - Front Desk (Ruby Tower) : She was very knowledgeable about the property and providing me the details for creating the experience I was looking for. She gives the perception that she can adapt with any personality to make them feel welcomed. Which is a true asset for Virgin Hotels.
Nancy - Front Desk (Ruby Tower) : I was pleasantly surprised by Nancy. Initially she gave a very laid back approach. But when I began to ask details and explain the room type I was looking for. She not only provided me with an excellent option but each time I encountered her she was nothing but professional and upbeat. Another asset I encountered on my stay.
Parish - Bell-desk : Very Professional Brought my luggage up right away. I thought it was a nice touch that it was the same person I gave the luggage to initially.
Shannon - Hudson/nextgen : a true star with a vibrant personality.
Zoe & Christine - Business Center : on a previous stay I needed some assistance at the business center and they were both wonderful with helping me. This trip the business center has been relocated to a new area but they were just as kind.
Arionna - Pool Deck Attendant : Very Knowledgeable about the pool...
Read moreI know there are some wide ranging reviews out there. Some are before the complete changeover took place. As of our stay March 17th to 20th it was my understanding they were in the tail end of the change in management and ownership and that tail end had some of the bigger changes. We got great insight from several employees. The small sports book director and his staff were very helpful and explained that the new rewards had launched the first day and to get it. Eventhough I was a member of the old being in the new one was going to be a plus. That remains to be seen of course. The dealers we had two in particular and one of the pit leaders were great ambassadors. All three had been there since the Hard Rock days and collectively all were positive and happy with the new group. Apparently the old owner of the property between Hard Rock and now were not good from a morale standpoint. They all were excited and sang the praise of new ownership.
The hotel itself is not small or mega resort size but like all Vegas properties it is not small. The pool looks like it will be such a blast and improvement from the old Rehab days. It was not open but they were working hard to get it ready for spring. The workout room was solid and perfect size. Food wise we enjoyed the simple breakfast buffet and service was great there. There is a pizza joint that does the slice thing as well at that was a great before bed snack. I can't speak for the rest of the food there although my smoothie from the smoothie bar was great.
We like the back bar by the high limit slots but the front bar by the main door always seemed busy and they had bands in the show room next to it and folks milled about there at night. We did most of our eating and drinking away as we always do no matter where we stay. The gaming was fine and the blackjack small deck was there with a 25 dollar bet. That was fine. The roulette folks were kind to my wife who had never played and just overall the casino folks were great.
The actual hotel only one small complaint and it is not a deal breaker at all. They have a dedicated check in for each tower but we did not know that. We only found it when we went to our tower the ruby tower. That is all I can offer negative and it does not even matter. We have stayed at Curio from Belize to Brisbane. This is what I expected from accommodation. Top notch and different. It was not cookie cutter in the traditional sense. Bed, night stand, big screen and repeat all over. The room was different. First an entry way with a little foyer with armoire and storage. Then the main room was split in half and divided by two TVS back to back. One side was two couches and three nice chairs and cool coffee table the other side the bed side. It gave a suite feel to it and as one who spends several month a year in a corporate apartment I would trade this room for that space in a heartbeat!
The bathroom you could park a small car in. It had a huge soaking tub and a walk in shower with a sitting area and plenty of room. It was not just a one room shower. There is a seperate toilet room almost a closet and two sinks for hers and his needs. Yes it is close to the airport but anything on the south end of the strip gets air noise as well. It does not bother me anymore than being close to Love Field flight path does in our Dallas home.
The Curio brand is always clean and unique and from time to time quirky. It also has some class as well. The room was as nice as I have had out there. I have had a few small suites and standards at some of the big names and this room was great. Curio does not always mean the Ritz but it always is special. To me there is a difference. Paying luxury is one thing paying for being different and unique is my preference and it also sometimes feels like luxury. This did that!
They are still working out some kinks as they complete the change but if you want the Vegas cookie cutter and headache of the zoo that is the strip then skip it. You want to actually enjoy Vegas and not deal with the nonsense this is the...
Read morePart 2 - It Gets Even Worse After my initial review, I called the hotel AGAIN, hoping to finally get some real answers. Instead, they doubled down on their lies and essentially called me a liar to my face. They claim to have a “report” proving I smoked, yet when I asked for it? Nothing. No evidence. No photos. No proof. Just more excuses and a refusal to be transparent.
Let’s be clear: I DO NOT SMOKE. I HAVE NEVER SMOKED. I DON’T EVEN OWN A LIGHTER OR MATCHES. So how exactly does someone like me “smoke” in a hotel room? The answer is simple: they make it up and charge you anyway, hoping you won’t notice.
This isn’t just a mistake. This feels like a deliberate scam. They never informed me at checkout, they never contacted me about the charge, and they never provided proof when I asked. They just quietly added $300 to my bill and hoped I wouldn’t catch it. Now that I’m pushing back, they’re attacking my character instead of admitting their fraud.
And let’s not forget: this hotel is already known for treating people terribly. Not long ago, their own employees were protesting outside because they’re treated like garbage, just like the guests. Multiple Vegas locals have confirmed that Virgin Hotels Las Vegas has a terrible reputation for shady business practices, and after what I’ve experienced, I fully believe it.
At this point, I have no choice but to pursue legal action against this hotel. No guest should have to deal with this level of fraud, disrespect, and outright deception.
STAY AWAY. Vegas has plenty of hotels, don’t waste your money at one that scams its guests and treats people like dirt.
Check the screenshot attached! They are doing this by more people!!!
Part 1:
Beware of Fraudulent (Scam) Charges & Terrible Customer Service!
I’m beyond disappointed with my experience at Virgin Hotels Las Vegas. I was falsely accused of smoking in my room and charged a $300 "smoking fee", despite the fact that I do not smoke, have never smoked, and never will. I also don’t drink, so the idea that I would violate hotel policies in this way is completely absurd.
At checkout, no one mentioned any issue, and I was never contacted about this supposed violation. I only discovered the charge when reviewing my bill. I immediately called the hotel, explaining that there must have been a mix-up with another room. Instead of handling the situation professionally, I was met with rudeness, a dismissive attitude, and absolutely no hospitality. Rather than investigating the issue, the staff seemed more interested in shutting down the conversation and refusing to take responsibility.
The only explanation I can think of is that after attending an event at The Sphere with business partners, where smoking is allowed and my clothes may have carried some tobacco odor. But to use that as an excuse to wrongfully charge guests is fraudulent and unethical.
I travel all over the world and stay in hotels regularly, and I have never experienced anything like this. It’s clear that Virgin Hotels Las Vegas is running a scam to charge guests for things they didn’t do, using so called "smoking detectors" without any real proof.
If you’re considering staying here, think twice, you might end up with unfair charges and terrible customer service when you try to dispute them. I will be taking further action to ensure this is exposed. Avoid this hotel...
