What a RIP OFF of a hotel. I think it's probably the WORST hotel in Leavenworth. We booked 2 rooms for 3 nights and spent more time out of the rooms than in the rooms because of the conditions of the rooms. Our daughter and her family's room was either always to hot or to cold. The heat could not be adjusted and the only way to get the room to not be so hot was to turn the heat off, then in the morning it was too cold. The house cleaning was poor as they found beer cans from previous guests in the drawers and under the sink in the room. We only saw one housekeeper for our floor and I'm sure she was not being given enough time to properly do all the rooms. Management appeared to be skimping on cost and it shows. Our room was the worst. The heating system sounded like it was trying to come through the wall, the vent fan in the bathroom sounded like it was a drilling machine. Our carpet was BADLY stained, VERY dirty, coming out from the wall and had big wrinkles throughout the room. We never heard a vacuum cleaner at all during our time and the housekeeping cart did not have one on it either. The cloth chairs in our room had several mystery stains on them to the point that I would not sit in them. Gross might be an understatement. Our window was very dirty and I don't think it had been cleaned on either the inside or the outside in a long time. BOTH ROOMS had issues with the water as it was cold one minute and extremely hot the next. Water pressure was not very strong either. Parents, please be close by if your child uses the shower because we had to jump back several times when the water became so hot. That is a HUGE safety issue. The beds in the rooms had very thin covers/bedspreads on them and the sheets were NOT tucked in on any bed. Housekeeping kept them short at the foot of the bed to be able to fold then at the top of the bed. Outside trash cans were over flowing daily. This was over Christmas and we knew that there were many gift boxes and wrap, but management should still pick up the trash on a regular basis. My grandson broke his plastic sled the first day and when we left 3 days later it was still in the same trash pile. I took a bad fall on the ground floor sidewalk from all of the ice and when I told the young lady at the desk, she seemed like she could care less. Luckily it only hurt for a bit but if an older person or someone else fell in the same spot the outcome could have been much worse. Once again, a huge safety issue. We also had to contend with SMOKERS! No smoking in the rooms, but lots of smoking on the outside deck/walkways and we had to smell it every time we went outside. More proof to me that smokers are nasty is these smokers flicked their ashes and butts down on the vehicles parked below. I am sharing our experience with Howard Johnson management and the pictures I took. If this is what HoJo has become, then we will never stay at one again. HoJo should be ashamed of themselves for letting what could be a nice hotel, become such a dump. I would revoke the contract with the owner of this independently owned franchise. It's obvious the owner only wants to make money and not...
Read moreAs one of Leavenworth's "budget" accommodations (it's relative in this overly popular vacation destination), Howard Johnson's rooms are decent—spacious, roomy bathroom, very comfortable beds, fridge and microwave—and the location is good, within walking distance of town, although note that the rooms face busy Highway 2, and traffic noise is an issue. Also, my room was on the second floor of three, and kids (?) running or jumping on the floor above me was obnoxious -- loud pounding that was distracting. I don't think these rooms are very well insulated.
And in this case, it took over an hour to check in due to technical problems affecting the computer system. The front desk clerk was on the phone with the manager, who was away from the area, and she had no help or backup to greet arriving guests while she was out of sight (behind a closed door on the phone) trying to get the problem sorted out. I and some other guests finally had to go with her to the sister property next door so she could get onto their computer system and issue our keys. I had my dog with me, and it was tough to wait that long to get her out for a walk/potty break after a long drive. There should be back-up plans in place for such a situation. As it turned out, absolutely no compensation was offered, no discount or any other gesture, after such an inconvenience -- I missed a dinner reservation with my friends in town as a result. Although the clerk was pleasant, she did not seem to grasp the significance of the delay and didn't do anything to appease those affected.
Also, the air conditioner in my room didn't want to come on, despite adjusting the temperature (fan would not blow), and internet was slow and spotty off and on. I would be reluctant to return here as a result, even though the room itself was spacious and...
Read moreWe arrived early around noon ( with temperatures in the high 90's ) - to confirm our res - With having driven three hours we needed a washroom - the gal at the desk was quite blunt and on the rude side - " there are no public washrooms available " there are no washrooms at the pool ? no washrooms in the conference center ? . the only washrooms available are in the rooms themselves it appears - not sure what the staff use? - we were told to go down the street and use the washrooms at the service station or Kristalls Restaurant and Lounge ( the staff there are very courteous and friendly) and have a great menu .There is no restaurant or lounge in this motel ( this unit should not be listed in the hotels section at all , It's a plain and simple " motel" something along the 1960's style operation . The front desk and lobby do not open until 7:00 am if you want to be on the road early you'll be doing it without as much as a coffee, tea ( unless you want to make it in your room and wake everyone in the room up ) , or toast - the rooms when we did get them at precisely 3:00 pm where clean , the air conditioner did work after some effort to adjust the thing , spend a few more dollars and get a better unit - check each motel, hotel for what they have available would be my advice - this one is bare bones - one step up from a tent even a trailer would provide a washroom upon arrival - One more item they have a key drop box -- do not use it - if the key is removed from it and used you could be liable for any damages done to the room - leave the key in the room , If you do use the drop box take a picture of doing it as this outfit likes to have you sign your life away for all liabilities , take a picture of the room upon leaving as well - cover your tail and trail -...
