Very old outdated hotel! It's more of a motel than a hotel. It has a horrific smell throughout and a very unclean appearance. The window seal is rusting, as are many of the other fixtures. This hotel hasn't been painted modified or anything in several years! The carpeting is very dark and dingy. You can't see if bugs or if it's dirty due to the dark color. Thank God; as we began spraying disinfectant, a roach came running out into the tile area near the entryway. We knew this was not what we wanted! We went back to the front desk; we were offered a new room. However, we declined to keep our reservations. We were told we could cancel the reservation and be refunded. However, when we requested a refund of the prepayment, we were told that there would be an early check fee (The front desk attendant visited the room to see the roach himself yet still said that we would be responsible for an early checkout fee) because he offered us another room the fee would apply. Mind you, we only stepped into the room to inspect and disinfect it! At any rate, the gentlemen finally said that he'd speak with the manager in an attempt to have them override the early checkout fees. Needless to say, Choice Hotel Group has taken way off the grid over the last 10-15 years. My advice to anyone looking for a comfortable clean stay is that this location is NOT for you! In addition, keep in mind that should you book a stay and find yourself dissatisfied, they will treasure steps to retain your money as am "early checkout" when you just checked in!

Do NOT stay here!! I should have read the reviews of this place prior to me making reservations so big fail on my part. On arrival, the grounds were unkept, the awning needed replacing, and bricks were falling off the façade. The lobby smelled great and check-in was easy. The lobby furniture was dingy looking as if they got it out of the garbage. Our room was on the first floor. Walked in and it smelled musty and old. I noticed the trim around the baseboards was falling off and exposed MOLD. Opened the closet and found more mold. The bathroom ceiling had mold with spores growing that looked like little mini (spikey) balls and I'm not talking about little specs of mold, I'm talking about a microbiology lab's worth of mold. I request another room. All metal fixtures were rusted, and a broken glass picture frame hanging in the bathroom. The pull-out sleeper had dirty sheets - tiny curly black hairs that looked like (pubic) hairs. Had to request clean sheets. The breakfast was very limited and I didn't want to consume their food anyway so i just had coffee. The chair (cushions) in the breakfast area were all peeling and were dirty looking - just old. I am a Choice member and very surprised this hotel looks they way it does. Shame on Choice. (i have videos and pictures to verify my review). *****I saw an older lady(80yrs old +) coming out of the same moldy room I was in, the next day. No way the hotel did mold remediation that fast*****Obviously, they don't care about their customers.

I must start by saying that I usually don’t write bad reviews, but I must warn people about this location. This hotel is nothing like the other comfort suites we have stayed at before, and Motel 6 would have been a better option. The bathroom door had been broken and was “repaired,” and now the door knob does not always close and stays latched. The faucet was missing the handle. The air conditioner had a plastic knife in the vent. I was afraid to touch the handles on the drawers because I felt I would need a tetanus shot. The walls were filthy, and I did not bother touching the chair next to the desk after I saw the back covered in dust. The rest of my family went to have breakfast, and they were not impressed. They had cereal and waffles. My husband only wanted a bagel, and there was only stale bread. Also, before checking in, I received a phone call (not an inviting e-mail reminder about my check-in per other comfort suites) demanding to know if I would check in and what time since it was after 4:30 pm. At check-in, the gentleman notified me that the pool was not working and asked if that was ok. He also mentioned that there was going to be a deposit charge placed on my card. I'm not sure for what, precisely since I have never had to pay a deposit, only have a hold on my credit card. I definitely will not be staying here ever again!!

The rudest unprofessional woman at the front desk, too busy talking to I assume were people she knew or maybe friends. She said she had no reservation for me and I clearly had the conformation email. She was just short and told me to call the customer service because she didn't have any rooms. Then I am standing in the lobby making the call and she has a friend come in with food. She clearly made it obvious with rolling her eyes, her shortness with me and her body language that I was inconveniencing her. I was talking with customers service who was super nice, I explained what she said and she asked to put me on hold so she could call the property to verify. While on hold I could her the front desk woman being just as short with the nice woman who was trying to help me. She made it seem as if someone asked her one more time she was going to blow a gasket. Her tone was raised and she told her just refund her. She hung up and sighed loudly enough to make me leave the lobby because I was bothering her. The customer service lady came back on the phone and I apologized for how short and rude she was to her. Customer service lady said she was sorry about this and she could refund me. I used Priceline and I would say Priceline customers service was amazing. She called other places to see if anyone had a vacancy, but I was already exhausted and couldn't safely drive anymore. In the end I just decided to sleep a little in my car before getting on the road again. That is exactly what I am doing. Please look into hiring more compassionate people, I understand mistakes happen. When someone shows you they care and understand what you are going through (even if it is just great acting), it makes you feel a sense of relief when you are already frustrated with everything else that you are dealing with. I would have given this place 5 stars has the lady not seemed like doing her job was too inconvenient, she also made me feel unwelcomed and she kept rolling her eyes at me and getting short and snappy. Also to make me feel unwelcome enough that I would rather be outside in the dark alone as a woman on the phone, rather than safe in the lobby until I could find out what they were going to do to help me, but she had no problem with friends being in there with food and stuff. I know there are plenty of unemployed people right now that could be a very warm, welcoming person that actually cares about people as well as representing a company in a manner that would keep people happier and making great reviews. I would not recommend this hotel until they can properly train, hire and make people feel welcome. Thank you for reading this. Again, not upset because they overbooked, it happens. It was the way the situation was handled. Hopefully this helps with making a better team. I wouldn't want her fired, I would give her the opportunity to understand the way she handled it was incorrect and hopefully she will be willing to change her work ethic so that she can become a stronger employee and part of a great team. I wish you blessings to both the front desk woman and the customer...

The service was not exactly hospitable. The updates or alerts of the actual hotel on 3rd parties is non-existent. The front desk did inform us that the pool and hot tub are not open and it is not present on any 3rd party sites, only on Choice Hotels. The front desk did ask us a preference of close to the elevator or not. The location of the hotel was good and felt as if it were in a safe area, overall; but the security of the hotel is obsolete. The side doors remained open all through the night and did not need a key card for entry. Infact, there wasn't even a box to use a key card by the outside doors. There is a night club just at the top of the road (less than a 1/4 mile) and on Friday & Saturday nights loud music was heard. This didn't bother us so much, but would be something some would like to know. There are several food options near by and only about 5 minutes from shopping. The cleanliness of the hotel overall wasn't disgusting, but in my room, the floor was dirty. There were several sticky spots on the carpets. The ceiling in our bathroom was molded and had a water leak. We discovered this as it stormed during our stay and the ceiling leaked for the duration of the morning. There was make up on the mirrors & wall next to it. Entering from the side door, the inside wall was covered in mold. Several interior doors of the hotel and our room had not been wiped down. It was a bit excessive from daily grime and could use a good magic eraser wipe down. The room phones did not work and we were not informed by the front desk. I discovered this when trying to reach the front desk. There were several plugins that did not work which prevented my family of four to charge and use what we needed to all at the same time. The iron left residue on my husbands shirt from the dirtiness inside the steaming part of the iron, as if it had not ever been cleaned. There was no information given for breakfast or checkout from the front desk. The front desk was kind enough to offer to ask their management for a refund for us since our intentions were to stay with an indoor pool as the weather was expected to be poor during our stay and this would keep our small kiddo entertained, but they stated that they "keep in contact with other hotels near them and none of them had an open room so we were better off not to try and cancel." Our key cards were not working each day after housekeeping had entered the room. We intentionally ensured that our cards were secured in wallets and/or away from devices that may demagnetize them and this still occurred each of the 4 days we stayed at the property. The handles of the armoire and dressers are tarnished, but didn't feel rusted as some mentioned in previous reviews. The lamp in the "suite" area did not work. The hinges on the bathroom door were rusted and the bathroom lock made it hard to leave the bathroom.

I'd only stay again if it were the only room left and all I needed was to sleep. It didn't fit our needs for a 3 night 4 day stay where we needed to get ready for several formal events for a relatives...
