We unexpectedly made a reservation due to too many soccer games in one day and being too far away from home. The hotel was difficult to find on our GPS. Once we finally found the hotel we were checked in quickly. Our room was on the 3rd floor so we took the elevator. It was not a very smooth ride. My daughter said when we had to go back downstairs we would take the stairs because she didn’t trust the elevator. When we used our key to get into the room the usual green light lit up for us so we turned the handle to go in and the door barely budged. I tried to open the door several times (pushing with the entire weight of my body) before calling the front desk for help. The employee came up pretty quickly and used our key to open the door and he had to forcefully push the door for it to open. We didn’t want to stay in that particular room in fear that we would be trapped after the door was closed. The employee offered us a different room. He knocked on a room across the hall and used his master key to let us in. He then explained that we could come downstairs whenever it was convenient for us to get a room key. We are finally in our room and I go to turn the AC unit on and it sounds like something is “rattling” in the system. My daughter was not able to go to bed until after midnight due to the loudness of the AC unit. When I went to use the restroom the door handle was hanging off the door and I couldn’t close the door properly for privacy while using the bathroom. The following morning we decided to take the stairs instead of the elevator due to the jerking and noises that were coming from the elevator the night before. I decided to skip out on the free breakfast because the shape of everything else in the hotel was so run down I was afraid of what the kitchen looked like where the food was being prepped. When we made it to the parking lot my daughter told me to take a picture of the hotel so we could remember to never come back to that hotel. If I spent $60 for the room I understand “you get what you pay for” but $100 plus tax the hotel should be kept in better...
Read moreLocated within a stones throw of half a dozen other hotels exactly like this one I can say first hand why this one will ultimately have a turn of management. While the room and breakfast and pool were nothing special nor out of the ordinary, the service was exceptional. Exceptionally poor.
The management staff, particularly one blonde woman, went out of her way to communicate what a lackluster experience she wants to provide her customers. To begin with, when she had a few technical difficulties processing my card she acted with all of the disdain of someone inconvenienced as if I had brought an interruption to her otherwise miserable existence.
Fortunately, our experience with her was minimal beyond that point though our encounters with likewise bored and unhappy employees added to the unimpressive environment we retired to between activities. That is, until a certain small toy got left behind that our youngest child has been very attached to.
When we contacted the hotel to inquire if the toy had been discovered, she was the one to answer and was quick to dismiss us saying she surely had no idea and to call back the next day. Naturally, this meant we would then be further away and unable to retrieve said toy, but she hurried us off the phone.
The next day she huffed and puffed over the phone when we followed up as she said the toy had in fact been found. We asked if mailing it was an option and she asked for our credit card information but then hurried off the phone saying she had a customer and left us on hold for more then ten minutes before it finally became clear she was not going to help us.
What a taint such an unpleasant attitude can bring to such an unremarkable hotel experience! As stated at the beginning, there are literally half a dozen alternatives within walking distance to this one offering the same amenities and similar price points. I will use them next time I return to the area for a quick getaway...
Read moreThis was probably the WORSE hotel we have ever stayed in! Our AC didn't work...we contacted the front desk and the attendant said, sorry nothing I can do because my shift is ending but I'll pass it to who is coming on and they can assist you?! Never heard that before but OK! So, 15 minutes after 11pm I came back down (because the phone in the room didn't work either) and asked her about it, she didn't have a clue what was going on. She said sorry, I can't do anything as we are booked up. I told her that the person before her said that she could assist us in getting another room or another hotel of theirs and she said she didn't know how to do that but she would call the manager. She never called me back...SO, long hot night for us.
Next morning I went down and she was on her way out as the new girl was coming on. I asked the overnight girl what happened and she "forgot" but was leaving, so the new girl could help me.... SO, I explained all this again to the new day shift girl and she was going to see what she could do and would have the manager call me. I had to leave for the day and unfortunately had to leave my wife dealing with it, which had been sick the past couple days as it was, so the no AC thing didn't help. She went down later to speak to the lady and again, "she was checking and would have the manager call us". NOBODY EVER DID....EVER!!!!
We got back later in the afternoon to find the first guy from check-in back there so I asked him what was going on and he said, oh they are moving you...but he wasn't happy nor pleasant about it! So in the end, they moved us but not without spending the first night in the sauna and having to deal with rude people. We stay in a LOT of rooms because of multiple Dr appts we have to come into DFW for....I can assure you, we will not stay here again! And I'll be sending an email to corporate about the...
