NOT ADA ACCESSIBLE. Do not use this hostel, i was very excited and pleased to find that there was a place i could stay for a conference i was going for. Since this is a hostel, which i am 100% okay with that fact, this means that is a shared room. And because of this they will not accommodate you if you have a medical need. They will not reserve the lower bunck, even if you let them know in advance. And i have a service dog, i get that of a service dog is a gray area is a lot of places, but by ADA even that is illegal. Not even for allergies or "to make sure other guests comfortable". The way you go about it, is you contact the people who will be sharing the space, and ask if anyone would be uncomfortable with a service dog staying in the room during 2-3 days durkng there stay. Even if the wording was the guest would like to know if there would be any problems. Here at least, you would hear directly from the guests and not just an assumption that they would be uncomfortable. This would show your willingness to accommodate guests. Maybe if one room is not available maybe the other is. There are options. It is really a shame for this place.
And despite all of this options, they still go with the same excuse, saying the the property is listed as no PETS acomodation. And i was like great, he isnt a pet he is a medical device. No matter what i said, or suggested to make sure the other guests were made sure that were taken into account, not that i really did, but i always show courtesy to guests and the establishments i go to. Anyways, as much as i would like to see a hostel like this stay up and running in a big city, a place that is discriminatory towards disability, will not have my business and will not have my approval. You may do what you wish, but it is a 0...
Read moreThe hotel felt unsanitary. It was not messy per se but the pictures on the website are misleading. Trashcans around house was seemingly always full. Outdoor cats are only mentioned in reviews (I loved them, but I can see how others might not.) Staff were almost never readily available. Walls in bathrooms are stained which speaks for cleanliness. Bed assignments were changed multiple times an hour before check-in which was strange. I avoided the kitchen so no opinion there. Shower broke on 2nd day of trip and was not fixed even after 2 days. Water from upstairs shower was too hot and downstairs shower was overall awful (low water pressure, no shelves, dirty floormat). No sandals are provided or suggested for shared bathrooms so it is a breeding ground for foot fungus. Toilet paper cannot be flushed, meaning it must be thrown away which feels like a health hazard. Residents don’t clean toilet if they make a mess (not entirely hostels fault but they should be cleaning more often.) Bedrooms were the most adequate part of the hostel. Sheets were cleaned, topsheet, blanked, and pillow were provided, blackout curtains, outlets by the bed and a personal light. Quiet hours were respected. Lockers were a struggle as the codes provided did not work but staff was kind and patient in solving the problem (reassigning lockers). The front porch was also another plus of the hostel as it provided a nice place to relax in the nice weather of LA. The location around the hostel felt safe, however, the hostel itself was not as there were multiple ways to enter without the passcode on the gate. There was also nothing to do close to the hostel aside from the convention center being nearby. edit: Came home to groups of itchy bumps all over my body…...
Read moreProbably one of the worst hostels I've stayed at in Southern California, which is impressive, because most hostels in Los Angeles do not bode well.
I booked a night and arrived one night too early, apparently. The guy taking care of checkins acted as if I were an intruder and said no room would be provided until the night after. I ignored him and fell asleep in the lounge.
The day after, a different girl who was Russian took a look at my booking and said because I stayed here one night earlier than I was supposed to, requested I make a Zelle deposit. so I did.
I don't know much else of what happened after that. When the time came for me to receive a bed, I didn't get one. So I asked for a refund, which the host would not provide. Upon deciding to leave, I was given a short time frame of packing all my things. I couldn't find my sneakers, after having changed into flip flops the night before. I'm going to assume they were tossed out.
The gentleman who took care of checkin the previous night continued to treat me as an intruder. I've also seen the staff look and touch my things I've left in the storage area to see if my stuff were really mine, which was intrusive. I understand I checked in a day earlier but treating me like I was an unpaying guest and violating my privacy was bewildering and sincerely upsetting. I do not recommend...
