Flamingo Motel — Hotel in Los Angeles

My brother rented the room because I had no ID. He kicked back a few hours and left shortly thereafter. I called my friend to come stay with me and had my brother call the manager to advise them. Surprisingly, they (a group of brothers) vehemently rejected the request, expressing more disdain and disapproval than necessary. With over 12 hours left before the rent expired, I left the motel and headed home, encountering on my way out one of the brothers who continued to stare me down. Help me understand this; suppose you owned a motel and a hypothetical traveler rented a room for 2 for one night. If the traveler first takes a nap for a few hours, then leaves when his wife and kid arrive so they too can rest, how does this affect your math as a business owner? Why is an aggressive rejection of this arrangement necessary when it is presented to you? What cost is incurred that outweighs the gratitude and future business you gain by allowing a simple, harmless arrangement to take place? Needless to say, this is my last stay here. Needlessly strict rules without obvious justifications are a red flag and can be indistinguishable...
