The application was submitted on September 28th, with a September 30th start date. I got an assurance from the leasing agent that I would have enough time to complete the application process in time for the move-in date of September 30. I had to get in touch with TaMesha, the leasing agent, on September 30 to inquire about the status of my application because I haven't heard back from anyone. She informed me that the application had been accepted, but I have never heard from her again. I was also informed that the move-in date would need to be rescheduled, but she did not provide any further information. I had to get in touch with them once more to request a later move-in date. I was informed that the moving coordinator would get in touch with me by October 1st, but nobody has. Whenever I texted or called, TaMesha was either unavailable or not in the office, but I was never getting a response. Every time I contacted the leasing office, they assured me they would leave her a message. It was such a terrible experience, especially since the move-in date was the same day or the next day. Because of this, I had to extend my lease at my previous address by one more month. I attempted to extend my move-in date by communicating with the management, but they told me that doing so would result in an increase in rent! Since TaMesha wasn't responding to my contacts, I spoke with Sue, another leasing agent, who promised to ask manager Zach about price matching and get back to me within a day. I had to contact her because she didn't respond to my message. She then asked me to wait another day, saying she didn't get a chance to speak with Zach. The next day, neither Sue nor TaMesha were in the office, and I didn't hear from either of them either. After speaking with another employee at the leasing office, I was able to get in touch with Zach. Zach claimed that although he had never heard of my price-matching request, he could immediately approve it. October 21 was set as the new move-in date. After receiving the 'WELCOME' email, I had a 72-hour window to sign the lease, after which my application would be canceled and the security deposit I had already paid would be forfeited. The signing page was missing from the portal and the incorrect amount was displayed on it. had contacted Zach and addressed the matter in a response to Shayna, the moving coordinator. Zach assured me that he would take care of it. After more than a week of waiting, the issue was never resolved, so I had to get in touch with the office once more. With Mario's assistance, another leasing agent, I was finally able to sign the lease. Subsequently, I discovered that I had never been informed about a promotion that offered free parking and two months of free service beginning on October 19. I was instructed to get in touch with TaMesha regarding this matter, so I did so. She merely replied that there was nothing she could do. Now that I've had to deal with so many issues, and the management has given me very little help or effort during the whole application and moving process, I feel really disadvantaged that I'm only getting one month free. I could have withdrawn my application and submitted a new one if the management had informed me of the promotion for which I was eligible. They refused to collaborate with me all the way through. I've never dealt with communication management so poorly in my life, and I'm scared that things won't get better from here and that the management won't help at all.
Oh, I forgot to mention the condition of the unit on the day of move-in. The bathtub and sink in the bathroom were clogged, a window was broken and cracked, the fan in the bathroom wasn't working, the stove has a broken knob and shook due to missing legs, the air conditioner wasn't working, there was a pest problem from day one, and there were still issues to be found. The pest problem is still there, the window crack is still there, and the air conditioner needs to be fixed...
Read moreMy husband's company is sub-leasing an apartment here while he is working in L.A. On the outside, The Medici looks very nice- like a Mediterranean village and they advertise as "Upscale luxury living" close to downtown. The apartments are located next to the 110 freeway entrance so in the morning and evening commute hours the streets leading up the building are clogged with traffic- worse in the evening when everyone is trying to get on the freeway. Our unit is on the 'A' side which is across from the guest parking garage. The only way to get into the parking garage on our side is from 8th street, but you would have to battle with DT traffic just to turn onto Bixel to go into the garage. Most of the tenants will enter from 7th and Bixel and cross the double yellow line to make a left into the garage..oops, are we not suppose to do that?! They should really add a turn lane for the tenants. When you start looking around at the property closely, you'll see: porch railings that are dirty, stains on the hallway rugs, musty smell in some areas, trash smell near the refuse bin (I feel sorry for anyone who has an apartment right in front of the the trash chute), bits of trash here and there and around the pool, etc. Maintenance is really horrible- our garbage disposal leaked about a month into our lease and it took them 2 days to come out and check it- we're SOL because they don't have the part. Then another maintenance person comes 2 days later- "I am here because of a work order"? I had to tell him 2 guys came a couple of days before and that they said they were waiting on the part to replace the disposal. "Oh, it says here no yet serviced, so I'll check with the office". It finally got fixed over the weekend while we were gone, after 6 days. Now the air conditioner ceased on Friday July11th. Husband reported it not working before we left for the weekend. Monday rolls around, it still isn't fixed in 85+ degrees hot, humid weather so a call goes in again. He returns to the apartment and places another call to maintenance today (Tuesday July 15th) and they say "We fixed it"- Um, no, the air conditioner is blowing out hot air that is 88 degrees inside. I would have to agree with most of the reviews- most of the tenants are students but there are a few families from overseas. Their are a few young inconsiderate ones who think it is okay to be loud, play loud music, bring beer bottles to the pool and spa area, (Even though signs clearly say "No bottles"). A gate to the pool area is left open, even though it is posted "All gates to the pool area must be closed" and security chooses to ignore it. Smelled pot coming from one of the apartments right next to the pool area, where the tenants were smoking on the porch. Oh yay! If you love city noise, this is the place to be with honking horns, sirens in the middle of the night (the hospital is nearby) and an occasional outbreak of people yelling, cussing and commotion from the street (and sometimes from the apartments). The pool could use cleaning daily, it would be nice of they had someone remove leaves, hair and debris. The spa has too many bubbles and an odd odor- like urine mixed with chlorine. Yikes! On the plus side, they have a private park with tennis courts, volleyball court, bbq, small children's playground and circuit training. We really wanted to love this place because it looks like a beautiful resort, but it isn't the cleanest and the lack of attentiveness to maintenance problems is...
Read moreI've had the pleasure of living at the Medici Apartments for the last three years. I've had a wonderful experience due in big part to the staff at Medici. Particularly, Jose Luis, James, Lizbeth and Maggie. These staff members have always been very professional, friendly (which is rare) and the ultimate hard workers. Jose Luis, was always efficient and thorough in his work, in particular with my apartment unit and also around the entire property. Jose Luis has the best work ethic. James, has always been quick and perfect with his work. Maggie, well she is perhaps the person that made me feel at home the most. Her friendly smile is genuine every time she greets me. She has high standards for the work she does, which is impeccable. I see her breaking her back every morning cleaning the gym and around the lobby areas. Her work ethic is something to admire. Lizbeth, well this great lady at the residents' office, is great. She is super efficient, friendly, great customer service and has an immaculate professional demeanor. Thank you Medici staff for a wonderful living experience.
Separately, I want to add a review about Kimberly at the residents' office. I believe she is separate from the staff I mentioned above but this system will not allow me to do so. I feel that Kimberly believes in the principle that hard work is of the upmost importance. And I got to see her hard work ethic for the last three years. On the very first day I moved into the Medici I experienced a professional and friendly person and she has continued to be the same. She always manages customers service needs promptly. When we started getting too many homeless individuals setting up camp near our building, she took the time to listen and write down my concerns and subsequently moved the matter to the higher ups. When I problems getting packages (because of the sender) she gave me the extra time to look into the problem. It got resolved soon after. So many times she came to the rescue. I admire her character, she has the inherent ability to help others. Thank you Kimberly!!!
Well it looks like I cannot submit a separate review for Angel, facilities staff member at the Medici. I thought I had submitted a review for Angel last week. Anyway, I feel Angel is the most courteous professional individual. He keeps the grounds very clean and organized. He always greets me with a smile. Opens doors for me when he's around. I see him working hard EVERY day. Medici is very fortunate to have Angel...
