This branch is one of the worst I've ever been to. I hate, I mean, HATE going down there. They are rude, incompetent and apathetic to your situation. What's unfathomable is that they have zero sensitivity training for people with disabilities, which I have. And yet, they are the place that issues disability benefits!! I've seen them yell and be rude to people with obvious mental impairment and the elderly. The security guards make me go through the metal detector despite the fact that I have a pacemaker that will get wonky if disrupted by those machines. I am completely life-dependent on my pacemaker. If it gets scrambled, I die. They make me go through it anyway!! I even have an ID card which proves I have this sensitive pacemaker, but the meat-heads running security outright do not care. These people, the representatives and security guards alike, should be required by law to handle clients with physical and/or mental disabilities, and the elderly differently. They should ensure treatment is not ableist, racist or ageist and engage with care, respect and patience.
In addition to their abhorrent customer service, they even cannot tie a shoelace on straight. I have had them lose my information, hold me accountable for clerical errors on their end - and then get upset at me for getting upset at how frustrating the whole thing was. When I seek clarification on something or ask a question, I will get five different answers from five different people and then get penalized for not doing the right thing when they wanted me to.
Try this: try asking one of the representatives for their name when you're attempting to handle something complex - so that you have employee accountability for the faulty information you're about to receive. They won't give it you. They will outright refuse to give you their name, so that you are never able to establish a record of your actions in good faith toward their requirements (this is if you are receiving benefits of any kind) i.e. Melissa ID #1234 told me I did not have to turn in this form until January 1st, so that's why I didn't turn it in until now, Jan 1st.
That's what I call a shady policy with no transparency or accountability. I'm not even sure how it's legal.
If I could give this place a zero, I would, too. They should be ashamed when reading these reviews and take corrective action. But they won't. Not ever. Even though...
Read moreI visited the Social Security Administration office to check the status of my youngest child’s SSN. From the moment we arrived, the process was smooth and professional. The officer at the entrance respectfully guided us, security check was quick and clear, and the check-in machine was easy to use.
After just 5 minutes, we were called to window #16. The officer there was extremely helpful, polite, and professional. He carefully reviewed our documents and explained that no SSN application had been submitted for my son. He immediately scheduled an appointment for us on July 21st and provided clear instructions on what to bring.
Everything was handled clearly, respectfully, and with a human touch. I’m truly grateful for the way this office operates. Thank you to the entire team for supporting families like ours during such important moments. 🇺🇸👏
✅ Update to my previous review (SSA Metro East Office – July 21, 2025)
Today we returned to the Social Security Administration office for our scheduled appointment. We were quickly called to Window 13, and once again, the experience was exceptional.
The representative at Window 13 handled everything with great efficiency and professionalism. Within just 5 minutes, the SSN application for our youngest child was fully completed. The process was smooth, respectful, and clearly explained to us.
I deeply appreciate how organized and helpful this office has been from start to finish — from the first visit to the final step today. Thank you again to the entire SSA team for your dedication and for supporting families during such important life moments.
👏🇺🇸
Final Update – July 28, 2025
Today we received the official SSN card for our youngest son — just one week after our appointment on July 21st! We are truly impressed by how quickly and efficiently everything was processed.
This entire experience — from our first visit, to the helpful representative at Window 13, and now the successful delivery of the SSN card — has been incredibly smooth and reassuring. SSA Metro East Office exceeded all expectations.
Thank you once again to the entire team for your dedication and kindness. You helped our family feel welcomed and supported during an important transition in our...
Read moreMy mother attended in person on May 28,2024 around 10:39am. Unfortunately, she was unable to get full name, last name Gonzalez (male). Really bad service from the start, said very unpleasant comments regarding the amount of incentive received. He proceeded to question everything on file. He told my mother that she was an opportunist which, was very out of line. Gonzalez even questioned a rent money order saying it was an extra income when it clearly states it is a rent money order, like really. During the visit he started making calculations of what she should actually be receiving, also super out of line. He even mentioned she is going to be fined for not bringing updated documents when she has been up to date, proceeding with intimating her by saying they would be opening an investigation. Only for my mother to realize he had a visual of all those documents he stated were not reported. Ending this very unpleasant experience for my mother he ended by commenting, she should thank god that the investigation would not be from a specific time period. It’s a shame you allow this type of service to be given. Of course I took the time to write this review, it is very unacceptable for this type of service to be allowed. If Gonzalez was having a bad day he shouldn’t reflect it on others. I fully understand it can be overwhelming working with multiple people throughout the day but this is no motive to treat clients with this type of behavior...
