First of all the hotel cleaning personnel and breakfast staff were friendly, and provided great service. My main issue is when the AM Manager/Supervisor came into the hot tub/pool room and told me and my wife (of 20 years) that we could not sit together in the hot tub. We were not kissing, or otherwise. My wife had her head on my shoulder. There were kids in the pool with us (our 4 children). If you are going to ensure that couples cannot sit with each in the hot tub please post on your rules board. Also we booked a double queen suite and we were given a king suite, which would have been fine, if we had not needed the extra bed because we are a family of six. Almost forgot to mention that their wifi/TV service was down all night. There are other decent hotels in the area, if you are staying in Huntsville.
Edit after Manager's response: First of all, thank you for the quick response. You stated that both the internet and TV were different companies. Well both were down, with the TV not being able to get a signal, which was super fun for our 4 children. Next you mentioned that there was an out of order sign posted on the door to the pool (which allegedly covered the hidden no PDA sign). We had checked with hotel staff 45 minutes earlier, and was told to wait 30 to 45 minutes to swim due to recent chlorination, which we then went back to our room and waited the appropriate amount of time. So now I am concerned that your hotel staff told my family that we could swim after we had waited, and you are saying that we put our children in danger, by following the direction of your staff. Concerning the child licking a french toast stick, I recall the toast stick in question, and can assure you that it ended up on my child's plate. He has autism, and like I said before, your breakfast staff was very considerate and understanding. Management could take notes from their employees. If you are looking for a hotel with hot breakfast and considerate breakfast/cleaning staff this is the hotel for you. If you have kids, and/or a marriage that still after 20 years has "some affection", Look elsewhere. If you want working internet and TV, after a long day, look elsewhere. If you want a hotel with a manager that takes the time to closely watch your family's every move (You are on camera sign was clearly posted, right above the complimentary cookies container), then this is the hotel for you. (Second review I noted where the manager closely follows families around that have children). If you want to ensure the safety and well being of your family, protecting them from the effects of chlorination, after having been told misinformation by hotel staff, look elsewhere.
Final thought, if hotel policy does not allow me to show "some affection" with my wife, then the hotel should have worked harder to provide us a double queen suite, instead of a...
Read moreThis hotel was terrible! The room had bugs crawling on the curtains, the room smelled musty and did not appear very clean. Several guests were in common areas not wearing masks and no one enforcing the masking policy in this time of COVID. We did not use the room or stay. We immediately checked out because we did not feel clean or safe. They still charged us for the night. Very bad experience. Don’t recommend them to anyone! The owner replied to my review which I do appreciate however he/she tried to make it seem as though it was about the size of the room rather than the cleanliness. Yes, I did an online chat with the hotel through Expedia which was fair at best. I was trying to understand what the room configuration was and why the room I selected from Expedia said it slept 6. To make a long story short, my inquiry was not answered in a way that was helpful. I ended up calling the hotel, paying more for a room with two queen beds and a pull out sofa which was just fine. When we got to the room it was too close to the noisy elevator and I asked to switch rooms. While I was speaking with the front desk clerk 3 guests walked by with no masks though they had signs up, no one was enforcing. While my family waited in the room to see if there was a different room, my husband saw a bug crawl on the curtains and one of my kids saw two bugs crawl on the sofa. The person who responded to my rating is tying to make it out to be about the room configuration when it was about the cleanliness of the room and the safety of my family that was my biggest concern and reason for leaving. We left without staying, rented a room just down the road with the same configuration, two queens and a sofa sleeper. The difference is the room looked clean, smelled clean and everyone we encountered was wearing a mask. Clearly the Hilton brand of hotels takes more pride in ownership than the Radisson brand of hotels. I think it is a shame to be charged for a room that I did not use when the reason was because of cleanliness and safety. And o by the way I was not in town for pleasure. My husband's mom passed away and we were there to take care of her final arrangements and were very much concerned for our safety and the safety of our children. To have this added expense of another night hotel is just the icing on the cake...
Read moreFirst off I was having a horrible time with Airbnb. They flagged my purchase for a potential scam and locked me out for 48 hours. Here I am with my wife and kids and stuck unable to rent a place for the night. Quincy (whom we'd never met prior to this engagement) the evening front desk concierge (this is the short word for magician, host, tour guide, counselor, and the friendliest employee we'd ever met at a hotel) recognized that I immediately needed to change two fussy kids diapers and needed welcoming asap, dropped his tasks and came to our aid. He let us view two different spacious rooms and pick which one we wanted for a layout and floor plan that was complimentary of the space we requested as a small family. And while I settled up business at the front he allowed my wife and children to go ahead and get comfortable in the room so she could begin our bedtime routine with the babies.
In today's climate of everybody wanting the most for the least amount I recognized his service and chalked it up to the age old saying that you cannot find this kind of service and hospitality for a dollar. Every room at this hotel is immaculate, comfortable and inviting. During our stay we did elect to choose the king suite which gave us two full size rooms so we can lay our kids down in one and have our own separate bedroom. While staying in hotels we've never had this much space for the money. We later met other staff members which all carried Quincy's same complimentary and amazingly positive attitude. So we knew we were in the right place. The only negative thing to say about this day was that it was short lived and our time flew by. I would cross town now just to stay in this hotel again and if I traveled I would look for the same hotel chain and expect five star but receive six star service.
You can train customer service all you want but it's in the character of the person on how they deliver it to you as a customer. Quincy stood out higher than most and at the time in which we needed him on a random Wednesday he was there for us.
I was not paid or coerced to make this review and it's been two days since we've left and my visit at this hotel still stands out as one of the best that I've been to.
Thank you Quincy and the staff at Country...
