Maui Sands Seaside — Hotel in Maui

My family of 5 stayed at the Maui Sands for 2 weeks. We had a 2 bedroom unit for the first week and then 2 1-bedroom units for the second week because the company we booked through couldn't get us a 2 bedroom for 2 consecutive weeks. || ||I would never stay here again. ||||Unit 1B (2 bedroom):||Pros: bed was decently comfortable, had spices in cabinet, boogie boards.||Cons: the residents to the side of us let their baby SCREAM for over 3 hours from midnight to 3 a.m. He started to scream again another night but thankfully that only lasted an hour or so. ||The people above us let their kids run around like wild maniacs and it was so loud...like little elephants running around upstairs. ||Another neighbor smoked pot. A lot. So we'd open the door for some fresh air and then have to close it because that is definitely not the fresh air we were looking for.||The a/c sucks...it barely cools the living room. No a/c in the bedrooms. So you have to sleep with the windows open and you get to hear allll the street noise. And people in the area apparently REALLY like their subwoofers and loud cars.||The bedrooms are along the front walkway so everyone can look right in at you while you're sleeping. Yuck. And even with the windows closed you can still hear so much noise. ||||Unit 3M (1 bedroom):||pros: slightly quieter than 1B and no screaming/rampant children above us or next to us. ||beach chairs and an umbrella in the closet, plus 1 broken boogie board||Cons:||Needs to be updated. A glob of glue on the sliding bathroom door, outdated kitchen, etc. Not a big deal though.||The a/c problem again. But in the bedroom the fan had one setting - high. So your choices were to sleep under a wind tunnel or listen to the noise outside. ||Again - very classy neighbors. We were startled awake by a couple having a fight. Yelling, cussing, and then she almost ran the guy over before she peeled out of the parking lot. Nice.||Thankfully there were actually a couple quiet nights and we finally got some sleep! But the bed in this unit was terrible.||||||1G (1 bedroom)||This unit was nicely updated, had a comfortable bed||No boogie boards or beach chairs, ||Loud street noises (surprise, surprise)||Next door to the kids that were above us and they were still noisy.||||||As for the condo complex, the grounds were nice. There's a nice spot to sit and watch the ocean as the sun set or to go play in the water but it's not much of a beach. We opted to go to better beaches and never explored this one. There's a small pool.||It costs $3.25 to wash and dry one...

Their booking dates are a mess and cancellation statement is inaccurate. Through VRBO Chase 'N Rainbows, I tried to book a week in Nov 2022, once I clicked submit with my card info, I got an error page that said my dates are not available. So I presumed I did not get the reservation. But upon checking my bank statement- I was charged. So I did more reading on this company- appears they've had history of duplicate booking and having to cancel someone last minute....not something I want to deal with weeks before travel! So I opened my email where it said I had the condo reserved, but clicked to cancel it. Although when I tried to book this it said 100% cancellation refund, they are not giving me 100% refund. I only book with places that offer 100% refund otherwise would have never tried this place. FYI that this company has multiple issues, best not to bother booking with them. Also- interesting reading about complaints on BBB. They are not BBB accredited, but compare their F rating to other companies...

Stayed in unit 2A|PROS: Very clean, small gift basket w coffee and mac nut clusters, kitchen cooking supplies well stocked, bed and fold out sofa ok, good communication w Vacasa prior to check in, 3 large beach towels supplied, 5 minute walk to park w excellent beach for kids, very quiet the whole time we were there, grounds well kept, large pool (unheated). price very competitive, small strip mall just across the road w good little family owned eateries. |CONS: This whole complex is dated. Our unit had several windows that did not open or close completely, furniture worn; access to bedroom only through bathroom-ie if someone was using bathroom you couldn't get into bedroom, pool not heated so on cold days we still did not want to use the pool, (complex nextdoor had 2 heated pools), no beach chairs supplied, beach in front of complex was too rocky for little kids so had to walk to beach down the road|Overall just OK, biggest plus was the cleanliness, but would prob not opt to stay in...
