One star because the ring is gorgeous. But the service at this location??? I will be returning my ring later today due to being lied to by the associate.

Long story short, my boyfriend of 5 years lives here, I live on the mainland. I visit him many weeks out of the year. Last May we were searching for a new promise ring since my old one is loosing its stones and color. As my boyfriend went into Maui Divers he laid eyes on a particular ring and brought me in later that day to see it. I fell in love. We are really picky and $500 is a lot of money for us. The lady (who was the same one who later sold it to us and lied to me) negotiated the price with Kama’aina. Brought it down around $50 and I think we negotiated further but in the end we decided to wait. I came back about 2 days ago while my boyfriend was at work to pick up the ring. The same lady was there and she remembered us. I asked her if the Kama’aina discount could still apply even if my boyfriend wasn’t with me. She said yes and I was able to provide his Hawai’i Drivers License. (Had she said no I would have completely understood and would have come back with him since he lives here and I do not. ) She then was checking me out at the register and proceeded to tell me the price was $570 after tax. I asked “and that is with the Kama’aina?” She said “Yes.” She also had me fill out a form and she said “For Kama’aina” that I needed to put my bf’s current residence and info on it. The price of the ring originally was $545 without the discount. I assumed taxes were high here or something so stupidly I went with it because I trusted her. Later on, I looked at my receipt and found she charged me $545 plus $25 for the ring and tax. She lied straight to my face. Idk if it’s because I am younger and probably naive but I am extremely disappointed in the service provided by her, and being lied to. Poor experience with Maui store. Purchased a ring as a gift that shipped to me from Oahu. I'm a thirty year Maui resident and liked the idea of buying local. My gal loved the look of the black coral ring but was concerned about fragility for daily wear. Went back to the store where manager confirmed it was a fragile ring and not intended for daily wear. Wish I'd been told that when I purchased it. Also was told by manager that an exchange was not possible because it had been re-sized. That wasn't explained initially either. And how was it re-sized? I didn't purchase a physical ring in the store that was re-sized, it was made in Oahu to the size specified. Anyway, went in ready to upgrade to a more expensive ring but left feeling like the commissioned sales people there didn't care at all about customer service but just wanted to move along to making a sale to the next tourist who walked in. Tried to comment off line to them via text and email but neither of those functions work on their website. They solicited this review via Google. Also disappointed in quality of piece. Big defect in coral top center and adhesive that secured coral to the setting had piece of cloth stuck to it that I mostly removed myself, but it shouldn't have shipped like that. I love Maui Divers, love their jewelry and LOVE LOVE LOVE the girls at this store!!! In true Maui Divers style they were friendly and kind, but they went above and beyond to make my birthday special! After having a bad experience at another location I headed to this store in Whalers Village where I was helped by Higenia and Yoshimi. They were friendly right when we walked in, greeting us warmly and letting me try on anything I wanted, they didn't pressure me to make a sale, they let me take my time to make sure I really loved the earings I came in to buy. It was my Birthday and I was kind of upset because of a bad experience I had at a different Maui Divers we had gone to first. They listened to my experience at the other store and apologized for the other store. They didn't have the exact earnings I wanted, they had them but in yellow gold and not white gold, but they went above and beyond to make sure I could get them on my birthday, they called the other store and arranged for me to pick them up from another location on my way back home. They took out the osters and let my 5 year old son get a pearl too. They were simply amazing and they made my birthday special 💗 these ladies are...
