I drove from Florida to Toledo as my father was in Hospice Care in Monclova and chose this hotel due to the proximity to him While the room was clean, the amenities are less than average. Upon arrival, I notified them the hotel phone in room 109 didn't work nor the blow dryer either. While out the next day, I was told the phone and hair dryer were replaced (by another phone that had a cord short and you had to hold the cord in a certain position to be able to use it.) I took my shower, and went to use the what I thought was a replaced blow dryer and it burst into flames in my hand at which time I threw it to the floor and unplugged it. When I went to front desk with the blow dryer and holder that I had easily slid off the wall mount and reported it, the desk clerk Shannon found it amusing though she did apologize; and a man came out from the back and sarcastically asked "You weren't hurt were you?" then found it humorous as well. The desk clerk then stated "We don't have to provide them." I don't think either the phone or blow dryer was replaced at all. I bought my own blow dryer and checked out a couple days later. I returned a few days later after staying at my sister's in Michigan for a few days, and my father had passed away. I met my brother out shopping for my father's funeral and he noticed my license plate was gone from my car. I called the hotel and the clerk on duty went through the surveillance videos and found that another guest at the hotel removed my license plate and left with it at 6:28 am. I made a police report with the Maumee Police and the investigation is ongoing. I went to the Maumee Police Department to get a copy of the police report when I was leaving to return to Florida after my father's funeral, and was told they were unable to get the security footage from the hotel; so it's still an open investigation. The ladies at the desk did disclose to me that the guest that stole my license plate was a regular guest and well known there; so I'm wondering if they are trying to protect him by not providing the video footage? While I don't blame the hotel for the action of their guest, I do think they could do better with the amenities that all hotels provide across the world being a working and SAFE blow dryer and a telephone. I hope that they will do the right thing and the video footage will indeed be shared with the Maumee Police Department and that the grown man who stole my plate is not allowed to return to victimize someone else. The continental breakfast is a dry biscuit (I kid you not) and grape jelly. Nothing else to offer except coffee and tea while they have a full breakfast area that is used as a storage area. Would I return? I don't think so, unless I couldn't find a room...
Read moreTasha B. you are both professional and friendly thank you for making my stay comfortable. I’ve been coming to red roof Inn since 2015. Toledo is my hometown I stay at red roof because most of my family members have animals who could accommodate me but I am not into animals. My expectations are simple: clean, comfortable and reasonable rates. That’s far I’ve not been disappointed! I’ve always found the front desk staff very friendly and accommodating. However, it has been rare for me to have interaction with housekeeping staff. My most recent visit afforded me the opportunity. I passed in the hall and outside and found housekeeping staff who were friendly and actually said hello first! I had an issue with the toilet in my room shortly before checking out. So I went to the first person (who happened to be Tasha) I saw in the hallway who’s body language was very approachable. After exchanging morning greetings I told her the situation. She then said, she’ll make sure to report it to maintenance and I could do the same when I check out. Then she asked me if there was anything else that needed attention in the room, her tone was both friendly and professional. I was curious as to whether she would be the one to service my room after she said yes, I told her that there was no tipping envelope in the room. Tasha then gave me one. I then wanted to know how I could share my experience with management whereby she’d be recognized. It was then that Tasha reveal the fact that if I make a review on the Maumee Red Roof Inn page that management would pay attention to it. Tasha is a consummate professional and delivers customer service with a smile. So Tasha I know being a supervisor in housekeeping you’ve no doubt have had your share of experiences. The grace and professionalism that you exude is exemplary. I hope our paths...
Read moreOur family of five and our dog checked in the evening of Saturday, 6/22. After a long week of camping in the hot weather, limited access to showers and a clean bed, we were happy to stay in a hotel for the night. When we travel with our dog, we are aware our choices are limited, and my wife and I are easy going enough to excuse a mess here or a sketchy reception there. But dear god, nothing could have prepared us for the fresh hell that awaited us.
Our first room was not clean. Stains on, in, and around the microwave. The sheets and bed covers were mismatched and stained. My wife took a shower shortly after arriving and stepped out to a find a pool of water on the floor; the seal around the bathtub was old and cracked. The entire room smelled of menthol cigarettes. The second room was not much better. It smelled weird and the floors were slick and greasy.
But the real problem was that the AC was broke in these two rooms, which prompted us to move twice before we found a room with one that worked. Not only did the AC in these two rooms not work, but they seemed to be making the rooms hotter. Imagine sitting in a sauna while someone burns a tire on a radiator.
Thankfully reception found us a room with a working AC. We stayed in a room that smelled like an open grave and had little black sink flies all over the bathroom, but hey at least the AC worked.
Worst stay of my life. The people who run this hotel knew full well they had multiple rooms that are unkempt, filthy and with broken AC. They don't care about your safety, well being, or your comfort. They care just enough to make it look like a hotel so they can fleece poor folks like you and me who are unfortunate enough to stay here. Stay far away...
