This is one of our favorite places, going there on the $2.50 per bowl GG Birthday promotion. Everything was different for the promotion in so many bad ways.
Mike provided his usual customer support excellence as he has for years but his hands totally tied by corp bureaucracy.
One of many bad examples that night was being denied opportunity to order anything but the small bowls...even if willing to pay for the med or large bowl like I was and others I'm visiting. My wife was happy with a small buy I wanted a med or large as always. I was not even askibg to pay the difference vs. regular price being told only small bowls that night. Nothing I believe said in the email blast larger bowls at regular prices were unavailable for purchase during promotion. This made no sense.
Why would a company reject additional revenue opportunity when a customer comes in for a promotion and is willing to spend more and denied? Thats what promotions are supposed to do, right? If I were shareholder I'd have to question whose interest the restaurant was focusing on....
We heard larger parties walked out because unable to get what they really wanted.
We also noticed removal of the chopped nuts, Chinese noodles and fried wonton toppings....not even able to request no more...this takes away a nice addition.
Adding to our frustrations, our two dishes were up there getting cold because they seemed somewhat short handed. I saw our two bowls up (exact items and our name next to them) and went to get them being careful not to touch anybody elses. I was very rudely talked talked down by an attending employee (not Mike to be clear) to not touch anything and sit down. Really? We also had to pay in advance...is this a way of assuring customer expectations cannot be met?
Finally they also set up new rules for tge direction of flow in line for building your bowl which we followed but not others. So in future I'll build the bowl in the order I want or walk out.
Except for the ongoing history with Mike's great service, I would never return. He took his best efforts to calm situation but his hands were tied by the new "rules and practices".
We will give it one last chance but hope these inputs are taken seriously as good customers over the years and hope to avoid seeibg yet another restaurant shut its lights buy not hearing the voice of their...
Read moreThe wife and I went to Genghis Grill on Sept. 18. We stood at the door (no host present) waiting to be seated for well over 5 minutes. One couple seated, one man seated, another couple waiting to be seated as well. We could only see a single cook at the grill. The server finally appeared and set the couple waiting and then us. My wife is a fan of picking her on ingredients, I myself do not care for that experience. I chose a dish from the menu, regular size, my wife chose a bowl regular size and we each ordered an egg roll. When the egg roll came out I was very disappointed, the eggroll was the same size as my thumb, see picture. The eggrolls tasted o.k. but the size did not make it worth the cost, $1.29, at that size they should be 50 cents each. When our meals arrived I was again very disappointed, my wife's regular size bowl had 2 times more food than my dish ordered off the menu. If both are size regular and both cost the same why was mine dish half the size of my wife's? The food tasted good, but no wow factor. I am disappointed, the only other Genghis grill I have ate at was in Clear Lake Houston, when I ordered off the menu there the meal was approx. the same size as my wife's why is it different here? I will not be returning to this Genghis grill again, and if all Genghis grills have changed to this portions I will not visit any of them. Forgot to mention the server/host was good, it was obvious they were running the place with him and 1...

Order 2: Medium bowl: Shrimp, Calamari & Crab, broccoli, bean sprouts, cabbage, egg & fried rice in 3G sauce.
M: My dish was good. The sign said Lo mein noodles, but in reality they were thicker like Udon noodles, a little disappointing. Wish I knew that I could have gotten cabbage instead of noodles. Needed another ramekin of sauce. My vegetables were crunchy and had great flavor with the Dragon sauce. Happy I put pineapples in my mix, it added juice & sweetness.
C: Food was properly cooked. Vegetables had the perfect amount of crunch. Needed another ramekin of sauce. Overall, the concept is cool. I would attempt another location due to service.
This was our first trip to any Genghis Grill. We weren’t sure what to expect. The way things were explained (or not explained) left us to figure things out for ourselves. Thank goodness for signs or we would have been lost! 😂 It’s a do-it yourself type of experience. It’s pretty neat they allow a tasting station for the sauces, love that concept. When asking the cooks questions about the “2 sides” we got smart answers in return, along with unexplained items/sides/ingredients not listed. Our server was polite, but very young and new at serving. We had to get up a few times. Overall, good food, not so good service… try...
