Absolutely outrageous and scummy prices, I can't put it any other way. I brought in an 18K bracelet to be shortened half an inch, and was quoted $395. I also brought in a ring to be resized, and due to the significant size difference (5.5 to 3.5) they said it would have to be remade instead of resized. I was quoted a price of $1795 to remake a 14K ring that only cost me $600 when I purchased it originally. I can't find any logic in that whatsoever. When I mentioned it was also engraved, the lady shook her head and just said "no that'll be gone" (which of course I was aware of) and didn't offer to engrave it after resizing. Everything about the experience, without even knowing the prices yet, felt like a bummer.
Right after I got the quote the next day, I picked up my jewelry and brought it to another local jeweler. The bracelet cost $60 to resize. He also said it was no problem to resize my ring. Because I appreciated his business so much I'm now getting 4 gold rings and my bracelet resized for a grand total of $170. He laughed extremely hard at the prices I was quoted and told me that he's the guy everyone comes to when they've been quoted scammy prices by greedy jewelers. A 3rd jeweler quoted me $102 to resize only the bracelet so I feel confident the average should be somewhere around there.
I also want to point out this is my second less than optimal visit here. A year ago I wanted to buy a standard gold chain for a pendant. I was shown two necklaces only, and the rest were in "a book". I remember having to call and ask them to send me that text twice. I went elsewhere.
So I know your response will be that you provide quality and your prices reflect that, and I believe you because your jewelry is beautiful. But those prices can't be justified and should be thoroughly reviewed. A quick Google search tells you average prices and yall...
Read moreBuyer beware. I purchased a piece of jewelry at Griffin Jewelry about a year ago. I was referred by a local and the store owner claimed I was getting a great deal because of the referral. The piece was for my girlfriend - we split and I since attempted to sell the piece of jewelry. I took the piece of jewelry to multiple jewelry stores to have it appraised and it appraised for half of what I paid at griffin jewelry. When I contacted Griffin about this they offered to buy the piece back at 50% of what I paid or completely refund my purchase once I provided a certified appraisal. I thought this was a great gesture by the store so I had a certified appraisal performed by an unbiased store that has been in business for 35 years. As expected, the piece appraised for much less that what I originally paid. When I sent the appraisal to griffin jewelry and asked how to proceed, they dodged me and then unethically contacted the store which performed the appraisal and attempted to influence their appraised value. I was shocked. Everyone at the store seemed so nice that this entire experience has been very shocking. I'm now out the value of the jewelry and also the cost of the appraisal. Their dishonesty and unethical actions are disgusting - why would they make an offer to refund something if they had no intention to honor their offer? Complete waste of time and money - and I'm stuck with a piece of junk which I've been told is only worth the value of the raw goods. I would encourage anyone considering a large purchase here to do their research before...
Read moreI wanted to take a moment to inform you of a horrible experience regarding the warranty on my Triton wedding band. Last year my ring was replaced by Griffin with a larger ring under the resize warranty. Because they were listed as an authorized warranty location I visited Griffin Jewelry atGriffin Jewelry 316 N. Central Expwy., McKinney. TX 75070. Shortly after the underside of the ring began cracking. That crack has now turned into 2 cracks and a chunk came out. When returning to Griffin the experience was far different than last year. The owner claimed I "dropped the ring because that is the only thing that could cause such damage". She insisted that I should take the ring to the place I bought it because she makes no money on warranty claims. She repeatedly made this claim and stated it was a lot of trouble for her to make the last claim and cost her money. I am shocked that a company such as Triton would do business with such a disgrace to customer service. Now I am stuck with a broken ring and a lifetime warranty that is apparently worthless because listed warranty jewelers are "losing money" over the warranty. I deffinitely won't return and would not recommend Griffin.Like I said, Griffin is listed as an authorized warranty location for Triton. Ibpurchssed this ring and got married 3 years before Griffin even had this location. To not honor the warranty because I didn't buy it there is ludicrous and Triton has been notified that this location does not honor the Triton warranty as listed on the...
