I was here attending an event in downtown McKinney, which was convenient from the hotel and from the freeway to access other locations (though exiting the freeway to basically a parallel "freeway" took getting used to, but that's Texas for you).||Check-in was easy, though I did need to get a physical key card - I still have been having consistency issues using my phone as a digital key.||As an aside, the pool didn't look small like some other hotels that angled their pictures to make them look bigger. It's just that given the hours you can access it, I couldn't take advantage of it in the evening - when beating the Texas heat would have been really refreshing, but yeah, liability issues, etc.||Elevators are a little slow, but with so few floors, not that big of an issue.||Getting to my room it was certainly interesting. Yes, I did look at the room photos beforehand, but it was still a bit weird to see a curtain used as a divider between areas instead of a wall. Also weird to see same type of curtain instead of cabinet doors, but actually I didn't mind that at all. Anyways, the room was really nice, the bed was comfortable, the shower as one would expect (did give proper hot water), and while I didn't use the kitchen really, looked like you could do quite a few things there if you were prepping your own meals, etc.||Speaking of that, you were in a central area where you could go for fast food if you wanted to (Whataburger, Raising Cane's, etc.), or do some grocery shopping if you wanted to make your own meals.||Back to the room, the desk area had an oval table that rolled out, which was actually convenient and I used it extensively during my stay.||The only significant quibble about the room (though may not be for anyone else, because who watches TV?) is that again the hotel appears to use a non-traditional provider for TV coverage (maybe something like those online cable providers), but there was a channel that I wanted to watch (TVG) that tuned into a different channel instead (TV Games) which theoretically has the same abbreviation, but the guide showed the schedule for TVG. This isn't the hotel's problem per se other than the fact that they decided to use this particular provider which I have seen at other Hilton Hotels every once in a while, but it would be nice to see it fixed.||I didn't have time to stay around for breakfast, so I can't comment on that part of the stay. But when I was in the lobby, I was able to talk to the staff who were very friendly and answered any questions I had.||While perhaps a more abbreviated review, it probably speaks to the fact that I have travelled extensively at this point, and the things I comment on generally are the same and that at this point it's more if I find something wrong or something exceptional. Otherwise, I figure the hotel I choose when traveling will meet my base expectations (which I figure is...
Read moreMy wife and I check into the hotel with our service animals and had no issues the first day with the guy who checked us in he was awesome. The following morning when we went to breakfast we knew we were going to have problems that day because the obese agent behind the desk stared at us, never spoke, and gave us the worst stare as if we didn’t belong in the hotel. That same day my wife got sick and had to go to the er. When we came back to the hotel, the obese lady KELLY AND THE OTHER OBESE LADY WATCHED US from the time we walked in and never greeted us. When we got to our room the front desk called us and questioning us about our service animals asking why do we need them and what was our condition. My wife told her that was against the law for her to ask that, but we do have paperwork that we can show her that our pets are registered. Even tho we do not have to give this Information.
We went downstairs and Kelly claimed someone saw the dogs in the car unattended. She went on to say we couldn’t leave them in the room either even though we hadn’t gotten all our stuff out of the car. We let her know the car and a/c were on, and we also cracked all four windows. The entire time we spoke with Kelly who is the manager she did not listen to us. We tried explaining that we had to get our luggage and groceries out the car but she wouldn’t listen. After standing down there trying to figure this out with these two obese women, I went back up into my room and my wife had to drive herself to the er. 2 hours later we were charged a pet fee out of nowhere . My wife called and the agent claimed the manager was in a meeting and she didn’t know when she will be out . When my wife spoke to the manager she completely disregarded us, and tried to tell us we said we left the dogs alone the night before. We did not. We were merely telling her even though we are near the stairs our dogs do not bark when they hear noises they are well trained. We asked her to run back the camera so she could see that we never left the dogs in the room . Obese Kelly said she might run the camera back today , but she didn’t know when she will have time . I’ve never had any issues like this staying at a Hilton. I travel for work and stay over 100 nights a year with Hilton. I will never stay here again solely based off the service of those two people , and their disregard and lack of knowledge on service animal laws
Someone really needs to do something about the manager Kelly. I’ve read so many reviews stating how nasty, rude and unprofessional she is. Not to mention the hotel had trash all down the hallways late into the day. We took the stairs every time we went to our room, and there were used teeth flossers that were on the rails from the day we checked in and were still there when we checked out. She will slowly deteriorate this hotel if...
Read moreWe had a perfect, no-stress one-night stay while visiting friends in the area. We didn't arrive to check-in until 11pm, but that was no problem at all. The room was clean and cool and had all kinds of amenities that we didn't need but would have been nice for a longer stay. This was my first hotel stay since the pandemic began -- I tend to be more cautious than most, and I felt fine here.
Noise level really depends on the other guests who happen to be there at the time. For us, everything was pleasantly quiet. There was a moment in the morning when someone in the room above us stomped to the bathroom and back for 30 seconds or so, but it was pretty muffled and didn't vibrate our walls like it can in some buildings -- my spouse slept through it, and I would have if I wasn't already awake.
Breakfast was fine -- several types of packaged frozen breakfast sandwiches, cereal, whole apples/oranges/bananas, 3 different small juice boxes, bagels, danishes, and other things I don't remember. It was easy to grab what we wanted, and I overheard a guest requesting (and easily receiving) a different type of sandwich that wasn't currently out at the counter. There was a self-serve waffle iron, but I think I heard someone say they had run out of batter. The coffee carafe was empty, so I just made a couple cups in the room. Everything looked clean to me.
I felt safe at all times. The property next door has an outdoor pool and there were definitely kids out there yelling at 11pm -- I never heard it from inside our building, but our room's window wasn't very close to that pool.
I'm probably a low maintenance guest, and this was more than I needed. I would stay here again when visiting our friends in the area. It felt a little expensive for what little we needed, but we booked the day before so we may be able to get a better deal in the future by booking in advance. We didn't need to shop, but it felt like there were many stores nearby if we had a longer stay and needed to pick up anything. Also, the fridge was great size for a hotel, and I would imagine it would be great for keeping groceries during a...
