Not worthy of the Marriott name at all. Cold showers, children working the front desk that could not be bothered to get off of their phones to help - Absolutely terrible service and a dirty room.
The first sign should have been the 20 minute wait at the front desk to check in. There was literally nobody in sight until this young man came in for his shift and realized we had not yet been helped. Shawn (or Sean? Shaun?) was the only good thing we encountered at this hotel. Very accommodating and apologetic for the series of events that happened upon check in. Though I think this was a sign.
It was late by the time we checked in and got in to the room - it had a musty smell. The room itself was quite old, which is no big deal, but it was also very dirty. Even my children commented on how gross it was - and they hate to shower and clean. There was a stain, which may or may not have been blood, on the beds. Also found some black mold on the bathroom ceiling - Yum!
We were going to attempt to switch hotels, but it was difficult to work out a new hotel with the last minute reservation as well as the way the points were booked. The hotel was willing to work with us, but it would have been complicated working with Marriott to book a different stay because we booked with points/rewards. In hindsight, we should have left.
The next night, the shower would not get warm, and could continued to get progressively colder as the rest of the family showered. Have you ever tired getting kids who hate to shower in a cold Shower? I hope you never do - I would rather shower a cat.
A couple nights later, we went to shower and it was the same thing with cold water. I attempted to call the front desk multiple times, but the calls went unanswered. I decided it best to walk down to the front desk myself - no body there for a few minutes. Finally, I hear some noises from the door labeled “employees only”, so I say “Hello” loudly.
A younger person, who I could not describe as gentleman, slithers out from the room in shorts and a t-shirt , barely able to look up from his phone. I asked about the water and the said “oh yeah, I have been having to reset it a lot today”. Which I can only assume indicates an issue with the boiler system.
Subsequently, I went to look at other reviews of this particular hotel and found that this issue has been going on for 5 months, if not more. What the actual f@&$?!?!
I am not just disappointed, but utterly disgusted at this hotel. As a Marriott Titanium member who stays in hotels over 200 nights out of the year, I am considering staying with other completing brands if this is even allowed to be a standard with which Marriott allows their hotels to be.
Hopeful that Marriott Bonvoy services will do something to make good upon my poor experience, but if nothing else, I hope this review saves others from staying here. I’d recommend the...
Read moreDO NOT book here! Horrible experience. The hotel sits directly on the road in a mass of construction. Takes forever to get anywhere. The room looked ok at first glance then I noticed mold everywhere even under the picture frames. I was exhausted and had already unpacked and ready for bed when I pulled the curtain shut and a massive cockroach fell out. It was dead. Placed a plastics coffe cut next to it for size. Took the photos to the front desk. A young girl was sitting on a stool on her phone in the room behind the desk and did not look up. I finally said “ma’am” and she sighed and strolled up to the desk. I showed her the pic and pics of the mold and she said “so what do you want me to do about it?” I asked her to move my room. She sighed avd slammed stage keyboard and slammed the key on the counter without telling. I checked that room before I packed up my things. The wall unit was on 67 and sputtering water and it was very hot and stuffy. Strangely there was no wall thermostat in this room to see the actual temperature. I went back down to the desk and she was again on her phone and very irritated to have to come to the desk. I told her that I did noy want to move twice as that air was not working and she rolled her eyes at me and said omg you want another room to which I replied not another room but a single room with working air that did not have mold or cockroaches. She rolled her eyes and stomped to the back. When she came back she refused to speak or look at me and slammed the key on the counter without a word and went back to her phone. The 3rd room was cleaner and the air worked but it had a room with an adjoining door that had huge gaps. There was a woman in the other room talking so loud on speaker phone that it sounded like she was in my room. By this point I was exhausted and knew if I tried to move to again the interaction would not be pretty. I got back to my room the next evening and the woman in the adjoining room talked on speaker phone for 6 hours and 20 minutes!!!!! I recorded how clearly you could hear her. I finally gave up on her getting off the phone and slept with my AirPods in to drown her out. There were also people running up and down the hall all night and a string smell of weed especially on the first floor. I travel for business and was shocked this was a...
Read moreDevastation hit us when least expected. Our family had to leave our home due to us constantly fighting unexplained illness. This Marriott is hands down the best place to go under our circumstances. We are fairly local and I must say the 5-10 lobby is a hidden gem. Everything is as cozy as can be. The staff has been professional but unfortunate for us, not much empathy. If I could change one thing it would be that all staff members treated us like the one young lady Kayla. She made a few adjustment on our room location and it made a horrific day much more brighter. She went above and beyond to make us more comfortable. Most of the front desk staff answer quickly and professionally but haven't been willing to do a little extra work to make this time for our family a little easier. Keeping our family next to one another instead of on separate floors was a request that was rejected. It could've been done easily but the front staff wasn't willing to do it and I wasn't able to express to her again what we were going through. I can see the staff members that had been there the longest had lost the ability to empathize and become a Professional Marriottkateer. Good for most but not for us. Maybe Marriott will add "actually care when you ask visitors why they are traveling. Don't just do it because it's in your handbook". Business travelers this is an ideal location if working just outside of the Eastern Dallas city line. Next best location is going to be Greenville Ave/ 635 or anything passed 75/Lemmon. This is for certain when you are concerned for safety or you travel with high dollar equipment. We live about 20 minutes east but this is the nicest location and best ventilation since a lot of times you don't have windows that open. The indoor pool is a nice bonus. The on site Starbucks is such a blessing. There is a Fairfield in walking distance that has breakfast buffet if that is your thing. Practically every Resturaunt you can find in DFW area has a location within a hats throw. Don't venture further than Mesquites Restaurant Row or you may end up in a "not so friendly spot". Professional, clean and convenient this Marriott is by far the best hotel within a 15...
