(YOU WONT BELIEVE WHAT HAPPENED TO ME IN MY OWN CITY, MUST READ!!!!)
I want all my Black people to no never go to "Sports City Bar and grill" in Mesquite Texas.. on a Friday afternoon, me and my cousin Carlton Williams Jr. had a recording session, and we we're finished recording and decided to relax and have a meal, and a few drinks before we headed home. I decided to tell my cousin let's go to this place because Ive been to this establishment before many of times with old friends. I even referred a few people I no that doesn't mind spending money in a nice establishment with nice, helpful friendly employees. As soon as we got there, it was a little early, it really wasn't allot of people there, so we went in the back where the bar is located around 7:15/7:20. We decided to skip the meal, and just purchased a beer. The bartender look at both of our I.Ds, fixed our beverage, and slid it to us. We paid for it, then We took our beverages outside in the back side area, we're you are allowed to drink and smoke cigar's, or Electric cigarettes. we seen a group of females sitting down, We approached them, sat down next to them I introduced myself to them, and that's where I was disrespectfully interrupted by a white man, that was the manager for Sports City bar and grill and another white man that was a Mesquite police. They ask me could they see my ID, I responded sure! I got my I'd out, and I handed the manager my ID. He stared at it with a devilish angry look on his face. I knew it was a mistake because I never started trouble nor Been in any trouble with no one at this establishment or any establishments what so ever. After 5 minutes I asked him was there any problems? Just a second! is what he told me in a disrespectful tone right in front of the police. And the police didn't say a word. He asked me how am I drinking because I wasn't wearing a risk band. The girls at the table including My cousin that had purchased a beer along with me noticed he nor they did not have a risk band on either as well as they constantly cried out to tell him. He responded with "I'm not talking to you all, I'm talking about him" after that he gave me my ID, and he disrespectfully told me I had to leave the premises or I would be arrested. I was highly upset, confused, and embarrassed because I no for a fact it wasnt me they was targeting, and it was a mistake. But the manager nor police wasn't trying to listen to us, nor give us the money back for purchasing the beverages. WOW, I'm asking all my brothers and sisters, stand with me. Racial profiling still exist still in some people, and some places. Help me by joining and spreading the word by SHARING, and bringing awareness, so our people Never go to this racist establishment Again! the name of that establishment is called "SPORTS CITY BAR AND GRILL" in Mesquite Texas. Thanks family!!! Black...
Read moreI recently visited your establishment in Mesquite, TX, for a girls night out which turned out to be the worst beginning to a fun night out.
As we entered the bar area, we saw some seats that were empty and proceeded towards the seating and sat. Now these tables were clear and free of any beverages, coats, purses and it looked like it was free for the taking. Jordan, the waitress, comes to my friend and I, tells us we can not sit there because it is reserved. Since when is there reserved seating in the bar area? She says the patrons that were there before us were outside smoking and they will be in any minute. Well the table looked like it hadn't been used at all. And there was an adjacent table that was "saved" as well.
Well, I asked her where they were and that I would move once they got there. She rolled her eyes and walked away! My friend and I sat there for approx. 10 minutes and still no one came to claim the seats. The other table adjacent to us was taken by other patrons and nothing was said to them about moving.
So another ten minutes (still with no service), the manager, Joey Duran, comes up and starts screaming at us and telling us that we cannot sit there because they people before us went to "grab a smoke." Well, I said I still don't see who these people are that you are talking about and I tell him that I am not moving. At that time, he storms away and brings two police officers as a way to scare us from getting up from the seats. We explain to him through the loud music of what transpired. Obviously, Jordan had not informed him of everything. A fellow patron also interjects and says "Hey, Boss man, there wasn't anyone sitting there for an hour." But to no avail.
The people that the seats were saved for eventually showed up and they declined to take the table. They had apparently just walked in from the front door.
But it was a big fuss over a Jordan getting her feelings hurt when we said we wouldn't move and her trying to reserve seats at the bar for her friends.
Sorry, but I will not be at this bar again with this kind of service. This is the worst service and treatment, and it doesn't make sense at all. And it is a bar area, since when do waitresses save seats for patrons or their friends.
This is no way to manage an establishment and Joey Duran...
Read moreWe used to visit here all the time when we moved into the area. It was always full. Then the service took a turn for the worst! We had stopped coming here for awhile. We recently started coming back and the service was ok. Tonight however, I was very disappointed in the service. We did not receive our drinks until we got our food. They messed up my son's order, which had to go back. The wait wasn't too long. We then ordered a to-go meal for our daughter. The toppings were horrible!! The lettuce was welted very bad and the tomatoes were rotted. Image if she had just eaten it instead of looking everything over. I'm sorry, but I have given this restaurant so many chances. I'm tired of it.
UPDATE: We took the burger back to Sports City and asked to speak to the manager. We explained how we were there recently to eat and took the burger to-go. He had the nerve to say, "I don't know if you ordered this in the morning and are bringing this back." My husband politely showed him the receipt with the timestamp. We got our money back. That manager is lucky my husband is older because he would have cussed him out so bad they would have called the police. We left there and went the TGI FRIDAYS to get the burger. Never again Sports City! Not even if they were giving away...
