Worst experience at a Marriott ever. First, the hotel was extremely understaffed as there was only one old lady at the front desk. There were three wedding parties and it was a Saturday night. The hotel was overbooked and we had to sleep three of us in one bed. We had specifically asked for two beds, when we asked for two beds we were given an attitude and told they had no one working that night so our only option was one bed. Then the shower had black mold and orange/pink mold growing in it. The drain also wouldn't work so the water filled up the sink and tub. The toilet ran constantly all night long. Again there was no staff available or extra rooms so we are stuck since our toddler needed to go to sleep. Then the second floor was extremely loud and using drugs all night with MANY complaints to the old lady at the front desk but since she was alone not much was done. No vending machines to buy water so we had to wait for 20 minutes to buy water. Some people just helped themselves because they were sick of waiting. Then once we got our toddler finally to sleep at 2AM the fire alarm was pulled by the same old lady working the front desk. This was terrifying for my daughter and we were forced outside to be eaten alive by mosquitos. The police then arrested a young black man while my daughter was subjected to the foul language of him and his friends. 15 minutes later the fire department showed up to check the premises. In the mean time the drug dogs that were violently barking went through the outside and inside of the hotel. At this point my daughter was in hysterics, and we were never told that we could re-enter the hotel by the police, fire department, or hotel staff. After a hour and a half and many mosquito bites, we reentered the main lobby. This is where we were confronted with another disturbing scene. A half naked black woman yelling and cursing at police while another black woman video taped the whole situation. This was my daughter's first experience at a hotel and she was traumatized by it. She said she never wants to stay at a hotel again. We paid more money to stay at a Marriott because we thought it would be a clean, quiet and safe place to sleep. We received none of that and would have been more rested at a more budget friendly establishment. Now we have a cranky toddler and are sleep deprived to start our vacation since your establishment couldn't correctly staff your hotel. I will not stay at a Marriott again. Ridiculous experience for the...
Read moreMOLD IN THE ROOMS- KNOWN BY THE STAFF AND OWNERSHIP
Overall my stay was not terrible, the staff was helpful and the issue is out of the staffs hands and more of property owner issue.
When we arrived and checked in we were given room 218, as we walked into the room we were hit with an odd odor and did not want to stay in this room. I went down to the front desk and let them know that the room had a funny smell, the front desk was more than helpful in moving us to a new room. Then next room we were assigned was 206, again the room had an odor but it was not nearly as bad as the last room so we took it thinking it was nothing to bad. We changed then went on our way to a wedding rehearsal dinner, upon arriving back at our room the odor had increased causing us to open the window... That did the trick and we went to bed. The next morning we woke up to a hot room and wanted to turn the AC on, as we did this we were hit with the strong smell of mold. We called the front desk and they sent someone up to confirm this and see if there was anything they were able to do. As the gentleman arrived I opened the door and he too took a step back from the smell and knew it was mold in the air. He told me he would change our room once one was available. As rooms were cleaned and ready for turnover he took me to a few different ones which all had the same moldy smell. Finally after searching we found an available room that did not have a mold issue and we were moved up to 300.
My issue and concern stem from the fact that multiple hotel staff (maintenance, cleaning, front desk and the owners) all knew about this issue yet still had no problem putting guests in these rooms. I say they knew because as I walked checking rooms with the gentleman from maintenance he admitted there was a roof or facade leak that cause a row of rooms at the front - middle of the hotel on multiple floors to have this issue. It was again confirmed by the cleaning staff saying not to check certain rooms because the issues was there as well.
Overall very disappointed that a hotel is more concerned about filling a room rather than the safety of...
Read moreA highly disappointing stay. We have stayed here a few times before and always had a great time. This was different. Under new management? At check-in I asked about my free night e-certificate and was told, a bit coldly, that I must call myself. As she was completing my check-in, I asked what the room number was. She just showed me the number written on the envelope. Again, a bit cold. We get to the room and one of the wall lights was missing a shade; there were smudges on the full length mirror (looked like a little kid had been putting his face on it); and the refrigerator was barely past room temperature. Around 6pm we headed to the pool. The pool was beyond cloudy and the hot tub was dark green--literally. I'm not exaggerating when I say the hot tub was disgusting and the pool looked unsanitary. We didn't go in either one (which is a main reason why we choose this hotel). My girlfriend went to the desk to see if they would clean the pool and hot tub. Before my girlfriend could finish her sentence, the staff person said "oh, let me guess, you need towels?" (Which begs the question, why not put out some towels if you know it's an issue. And for the record, later that evening and the next morning, there still were no towels.) After my girlfriend explained that she was not there about the towels, the staff person said that she wasn't sure when the pool/hot tub could be cleaned; that the custodial worker may or may not be back later or perhaps the next morning. We checked back about an hour later and no change. We then checked the next morning at 9am and no change. I asked the staff person and she said that no one was coming until Monday; they don't have anyone on hand during the weekend. (For the record, the Saturday morning person was much friendlier.) This was supposed to be a relaxing, one night get-away. Not so much. We had been here a few times before and always enjoyed ourselves, but have no plans on returning. There is a million hotels in driving distance. Why go to one with these kinds of problems? If anyone asks, I'll tell them to go...
