110% WOULD NOT STAY HERE AGAIN! The room I paid for was NOT what they originally put me in; it was a down grade. When I went to the front desk to have the situation fixed, I was told my room, which was not even facing the ocean, was an ocean view and nothing they could do to move me to the right room cause they're "sold out". I showed them the 2 emails I received from them showing my room type, all of a sudden, they were able to move us to what we paid for. Looking back at the situation, I should have taken pics. The floor was so nasty that our feet were black with filth; we wore our shoes in the room until we got in bed. Our room was hardwood laminated floor; obviously it had never been mopped. I pulled the filters out of the ac units, and they were disgusting! It took me less than 5 mins to rinse them off, dry them, and replace them. You DO NOT get housekeeping while you're there. The room had a weird smell, but so did the rest of the hotel. The whole hotel smelled like pot and moldy alcohol; most of the hotel is carpet. It wasn't until the night final day of our stay that I was packing up and discovered the smell was mold!! I was picking up a few small toys that had rolled under one is the ac units in the room, and I saw mold on the vents two the until. I wiped it off, and it was black mold! I went to the unit in the other room where my children slept and discovered the same thing! I wiped it off and wiped under it. The under part was the worst!! Our balcony was always wet, but not wet on the side where the ac unit was, which was weird. It wasn't until 2 days into our 4 day trip I learned about the "no housekeeping until check out." You have to ask for clean towels. The hotel area is NOT SAFE! The police had to shut down the entrie block due to a shooting/raid at the hotel across the street from us. The police had that that hotel surrounded, kicked in 3 doors on 3 different levels, and I watched the throw a flash bomb into one of the rooms! The whole area around the hotel is ghetto! Most ofbthe hotels look like trash or are abandoned. At this hotel, on the last full day of our stay, which was June 1st, the police were called because a housekeeper accessed a room they were not supposed to be in. Im not going to say what happened as it is still an active investigation. It involved a male worker and a female occupant. The housekeepers and staff, 75% of them, DID NOT have on a uniform! Not only were they NOT in any type of work uniform, but they were not even remotely dressed professional! The walls in the common areas were filthy. Saying the indoor pool was dirty is an understatement. I did see staff cleaning the outside pool deck each morning. At check in, and throughout the building, there are signs that say you must wear a wristband at all times for the water amenities. (Insert hard eye roll) I saw dozens of kids (abput ages 10 and under) rude with no manners, running wild all hours of the night without a wristband. They could have been staying off property and coming their to use the amenities. He'll had i known that I would have done the same with my family and paid a fraction of the price with a much better experience. The manager.... yea, ok, he's a joke and just a warm body! Don't even waste your time trying to get help out of him with your issues. "I'm sorry to hear about your experience. Unfortunately, there's nothing I can do. Here call this number." He gives you a number to call. Good luck getting anyone to answer. And do you know why he can't help? THESE ROOMS ARE TIME SHARES!!! THEY ARE INDIVIDUALLY OWNED AND THE OWNERS COULD GIVE 2 SHITS LESS! I saw a few of the rooms as we were here for a big event and had a lot of friends at the event. Some of the rooms were really nice and others were very ghetto and dirty. I had to carry my child who uses a wheelchair up 2 flights of stairs because 2 of the 4 elevators were working. Again, rude kids with no wristbands running in front of us to jump on an elevator and wouldn't allow us in. DO NOT STAY HERE!! GET YOUR...
Read moreMy family and I visit Myrtle Beach every year. Each year, we choose a different hotel or resort to stay at so we can try and find THE one for our family to return to for years to come.
I can assure you, without a doubt, The Landmark Resort is absolutely NOT the one.
We Pre-Checked in the day before and got Priority Check-in, so I was suppose to be able to skip the line upon arrival. That was NOT the case and I still had to wait to be helped, and do the check in process all over again. The lobby is outdated, with ripped carpet every where, stained, scuffed or damaged walls, and the building has not been updated since the Berlin Wall fell. Our room was small, with two full beds, and smelled like mildew and cigarettes. The carpet was ripped, stained and lifting from the floor in some spots. There was one functional power outlet in the entire room for 3 people to share.
The elevators are slower than Joe Biden. Just take the stairs.
The numerous indoor and outdoor pools were either warm and sandy or cold and filled with trash and bugs. The beach-side shower to rinse sand off your body before entering the pools, had little to no water flow which explains the sand in all of the pools.
The second day, we came back to our room and saw multiple house keeping employees on our floor, even in the room next to us, cleaning and supplying rooms. We walked into our room and saw that nothing had been done. No new towels, no toilet paper, no clean linens or made beds. We let it go and went about our day. Fast forward to the next day, same thing. Housekeeping on our floor, in other rooms, but our room hadn’t been touched.
I went down to the front desk to talk to someone about why housekeeping had not stopped by our room in 3 days. They told me: “You have to request that. We don’t do housekeeping without requests.”
So, at a “Resort” where I’ve paid nearly $1000 for a 4 Day stay, I don’t get housekeeping, have to take out my own trash, make my own bed, request towels and toilet paper, and fight off roaches in an outdated, smelly hotel? Got it.
What I can only assume was the manager walked up to me and said “Due to staff shortages, we don’t currently have housekeeping unless you request something. We have housekeeping 24/7 so you can request something anytime and we’ll bring it to your room”
So you have housekeeping 24/7 but not enough on hand to clean and replenish rooms? Makes sense. I requested Towels, Bed Linens and Toilet Paper and went back to my room. After a few minutes I decided to call the front desk just to make sure there understood everything I needed. I reiterated that we need Towels, Bed Linens and Toilet Paper and they assured me someone would be right up.
My family and I decide we’re bored and go out on the town for a few hours. When we returned, there was a bag in front of our room with towels and linens inside. They couldn’t even bring them into our room, or at the very least, placed the bag on one of the beds. When we opened the bag, there was no toilet paper. At this point, we’re livid. How hard is it to get some toilet paper in this place? We almost resorted to using wash cloths and rags. But I told my wife I would get us some toilet paper.
I immediately picked up the phone and called the front desk. No answer. Called again, no answer. My wife and kids wanted to go back to the pool, so on our way down I stopped at the front desk and saw a few employees standing around, laughing, not answering the phones.
I approached the desk and asked them again for some toilet paper and made sure they knew that I have been to the desk twice now and called three times trying to get toilet paper. They went to a closet behind the counter and grabbed two rolls and handed them to me. I said “No ma’am, my family is going to the pool, can you have housekeeping or someone drop it off at my room?”
They said “No sir, you can take it now”
And at that point, I knew my family and I would not be returning to...
Read moreSo I give this four stars because of a few factors. Our room was great. We stayed in 1439 with an awesome ocean view. The kitchen was very large compared to other stays at surrounding resorts. The room was clean and had many appliances and dinnerware for our use. The beds were comfortable and sheets were clean. Here is why the 4 stars….
We were really sold on the water slides across the street. My kids love them. Unless you are into blacking out or drowning, I wouldn’t suggest it. They took my whole family out besides my six year old who just loved them but didn’t come out unscathed. My other child swore he had brain damage. The water pressure is too hard and there is too much water at the bottom. So when you come out you are just laying in a lake unsure of where you are after being whipped around inside the tunnels. This seemed to be a complaint among many of the other guests in the hotel as well.
The pool access is frustrating. There are six ways to access the outdoor pools, but only one works and that makes it frustrating when you are trying to get in and out from the outdoor and inside pools. I sat next to a “false” exit and over a dozed guests tried to get in and out that door. These need to be better marked. Let’s hope there is never a fire. Seems very hazardous. There are not many chairs on the inside pool for families. I get they want people to go to the beach or outdoor pool but when you have had too much sun and need a shady rest, this is the place. Please put more chairs in here. The elevator that takes you too the pool just sits there with doors closed and doesn’t move. A lady said “oh it’s stuck, but I’m used to it”….No Mam! In no way should this be “normal” lol. Stairs for me.
The front desk staff was VERY nice, helpful and polite. We got there at 11:30 to see about checking in early. I mentioned it when I made the reservation and when I checked in. I even called and they had note on my account when I came in. We never got a call about a room being ready. & checked twice and the second time was 4:15 before we got out key to a room. We did end up staying another night when we had only planned to stay one. They made extending out stay very easy and painless.
On checkout day there was this older white lady who I can only assume is a manager that was very unprofessional. I came down to ask for a trash bag and the front staff had seen me plenty and knew I was a guest. She corrected the other staff right in front of me about asking for a room number and “getting in the habit regardless of if you have seen the guest”. I say correcting because she had a bad tone and her body language was aggressive. Very unprofessional! That is something you do discreetly when there are no guests present and you want to train someone. Yucky power move and not ok. I hope she reads this review and thinks about ways to be a better manager.
The parking for handicap is few. My son has cerebral palsy and there are only about four spots for handicap but 20 for 15 minute unloading. You all need to fix this. There needs to be even just a few more. We just parked beside the hotel in the “pay” parking and I displayed my handicap hang tag and resort tag. I didn’t end up getting towed or a ticket. Maybe luck? Maybe the city understood there were no handicap spots and parking is usually free anyway and let it go.
The other staff did a great job keeping up with the clean towels in the pool and cleaning the floors regularly for any sand or wetness from the pool.
The pull down bed in living area needs a HARD cleaning behind the headboard. This is absolutely disgusting.
This is one place that we will def stay at again. Access to the beach is great and everything is so close...
